Alisha Rai, one of contemporary romance’s brightest stars, makes her Avon Books debut with the first novel in the sexy Forbidden Hearts series! One night. No one will know. That was the deal. Every year, Livvy Kane and Nicholas Chandler would share one perfect night of illicit pleasure. The forbidden hours let them forget the tragedy that haunted their pasts—and the last names that made them … names that made them enemies.
Until the night she didn’t show up.
Now Nicholas has an empire to run. He doesn’t have time for distractions and Livvy’s sudden reappearance in town is a major distraction. She’s the one woman he shouldn’t want . . . so why can’t he forget how right she feels in his bed?
Livvy didn’t come home for Nicholas, but fate seems determined to remind her of his presence—and their past. Although the passion between them might have once run hot and deep, not even love can overcome the scandal that divided their families.
Being together might be against all the rules . . . but being apart is impossible.
One of Amazon’s Best Romances of the Month & Best Romances of 2017!

This book grabbed me body and soul. I felt in my bones. This was my first Alisha Rai book but most certainly won’t be my last!
OMG, it was so good I didn’t want it to end. I loved Livvy and Nicholas! This story is sexy and filled with family drama and so much heart and compassion for those suffering through their emotional baggage.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the Forbidden Hearts series!
Try the Forbidden Hearts series by Alisha Rai. It’s set in a small town, which I love, and it acknowledges that small towns are rarely Hallmark-card perfect, which I love even more. Alisha’s writing is pretty hot, so if you prefer a closed bedroom door, her books may not be right for you. She writes compelling characters and angsty stories, but they’re definitely romance novels. You can be confident they’ll find a way to work it out in the end. (Start here: Hate to Want You)
I loved Nicholas & Livvy’s story. The love scenes are super hot and I was completely wrapped up in all of the angsty family drama. I also appreciated the inclusion of a main character who struggles with mental health issues.
Love the book and the main characters!
I adored this book! Grab it now while it’s on sale!
Good book,
It sort of dragged for me. I didn’t care for male and female main characters
Loved this story. So tragic but so so encouraging.
Hot, beautifully written, and compelling. I just loved Livvy, the heroine, in all her very real complexity. And Livvy’s family dynamics were heartbreakingly real. I actually cried a little near the end, and that almost NEVER happens for me with a romance. Highly recommend this book.
I enjoyed this whole series!
Hate To Want You is a heart-wrenching love story full of passion, angst, and emotion that is sure to leave you completely satisfied! This is a first read for me and I have to say I am beyond impressed with what I found, the story line was wonderfully crafted and highly engaging, the characters were well drawn, overall I would say it was a top notch romance read!! Be prepared for a steamy, and highly enjoyable read!!
I loved Olivia! Though unusual but awesome to see an Asian heroine, she was an intelligent chic silently suffering under a cloud of depression. And dang it if Livvy wasn’t a tough cookie! Her struggles with depression were a real fear and I appreciated how it didn’t keep her from searching for her little slice of rainbow to call her own. She didn’t shy away from her issues; she embraced them and though she had setbacks, she didn’t hesitate to recognize when she was floundering and needed to grab a helping hand.
Nicholas came across as this cold block of ice incapable of feelings, but around Livvy he was a passionately needy guy and I loved seeing those cracks in his armour. He tried to control every aspect of his life to the point of not living one except for the once a year hook up he and Livvy kept. He had his own set of issues to deal with, and even though he recognized he and Livvy couldn’t continue on the way they were, he had to figure out why he couldn’t let her go.
Their relationship began as first love and transitioned to something emotionally and mentally unhealthy for both, leaving sex as their one definite method of honest communication. Their open consent stripped Nico and Livvy emotionally raw and showed how much passion they had for one another beyond the physical. The sex also showed their love/hate relationship was more love than hate, but the full depth of loss and grief and fear of complete acceptance from one another overshadowed that epiphany for both of them.
This is the first book I’ve read by Alisha Rai and I was impressed! I’m not usually a fan of angsty romances, but this one…I simply couldn’t stop reading it! I wasn’t prepared for this fantastically tumultuous second chance romance and I’m so glad I took a chance. Nico and Livvy’s journey wasn’t easy, but even when I couldn’t decide if I wanted to cheer or cry, I continually held my breath hoping they’d make it. It’s not a perfect story, but it gives hope that anyone can have a some type of happy ending.
great
Excellent writing.
