Rule #1: No hot guys.It might sound ridiculous. I get it. It kind of was, but college was supposed to be my sanctuary. It was my place to start over. The rumors, the whispers, and the jealousy I endured through high school would all be gone.No one would know me at college.Rule #2: No drama.I’d major in pre-law. I’d make a few loyal friends. Everything would be easy-breezy. No one was going to use … No one was going to use me or hurt me. I wouldn’t let them.
Rule #3: New year. New place. New me.
Right?
Wrong.
And all because of Shay Coleman.
Football captain and quarterback, he was the big guy on campus. The cocky guy in my political science class with a smirk.
I hated him on sight . . .
. . . and he was about to break all my rules.
Hate To Love You is a full-length standalone.

You absolutely can’t go wrong with ANY book by Tijan.
Original as all get out. Love her books!
Tijan for me is an author who I will always one click and when I got the chance to sign up for an ARC I was excited and then to actually receive this I was so grateful and beyond super excited and this right here is why I love being a blogger I also may have started reading straight away.
When I first read this books blurb I thought yes it’s another winner but sometimes you can be biased I will admit that but when you get to read the book and it exceeds your expectations I am one very happy Tijan and book lover.
The one thing I can say about Tijan is she can write a kick *** female characters and Kennedy was no exception, she was tough, tougher than she thought she was, she was strong and really stood up for herself and for her friends even if she didn’t realise they were friends. She took some pretty hard times and tried to stick to her plan of starting over in college but sometimes plans just don’t work.
Shay was interesting he was popular and he knew it, it just seemed like he didn’t really care, he went to college played football hung out with friends and that was as deep as he went. I wasn’t so sure about him to start off with I was expecting him to be really nasty and mess Kennedy around, but no in the end he really was perfect. He was cocky but it was over arrogant and he knew what he wanted and would go for it.
As Tijan does best there is a whole lot of Drama, angst, sexy times and just a great story line that kept you turning page after page. I loved it when you were reading that when you think you have one situation sorted, another one drama or story will pop up, absolutely loved everything about this story.
Big big 5 stars for this baby
Another great book from Tijan !
Kennedy and Shay! What can I say! WOW! Kennedy had rules.
Rule #1: No hot guys.
Rule #2: No drama.
Rule #3: New year. New place. New me.
Of course one look at Shay and she knew rule #1 was going out the window! He was the big man on campus, hot guy, start quarterback of the college football team, sweet, nice and did I mention hot…lol. Kennedy wanted to stay away from drama, but drama found her more than once unfortunately! Shay was a stand up guy and even after all the drama Kennedy went through with the girls, being nicknamed “dick crusher”, and getting the tar beat out of her and having to deal with Shay’s stalker (which he had no idea about), he still kept with her and loved her through everything!
I loved this book! I cannot get enough of Tijan’s books! I just love the characters, the writing, everything!
This is such a great read, the story was so easy to get into and I loved Shay and Kennedy. The story was hooking, sexy, emotional, had plenty of drama and I even had some good laughs. I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend giving a read
Another phenomenal read by Tijan. Grabbed me from the begging and didn’t let go until the end. Devoured this! A must read. Love her characters, storylines, and everything!
spoiler alert ** I loved this book ,it was hot and steamy and it made me feel all the feels 🙂
I really liked Kennedy, i liked that she stood up for herself and she didn’t take any shit ,there were times where i was a little confused by her ,i mean i understood that some crappy things went down in high school but i don’t know if i would have allowed it to effect me like Kennedy did , New school new people and in walks Shay Coleman ,the most popular dude on campus and Kennedy catches his eye from the first day ,everything he does annoys her and then they get paired in a group for a project and she has no choice but to interact with Shay ,which leads to a hot make-out session in her closest and the more she is around him the more she starts to fall in love with him .
What can i say about Shay Freaking Coleman beside he’s hot, smart, funny, good at sports and other things if you catch my drift (wink wink) from the start he was into Kennedy and she didn’t want anyone to know about them ,he goes along with it because he likes her and then she gets attacked and he goes off on the 2 guys who hurt her and she finally sees that he wants more .
I really liked their story ,there were times where i was kinda sick of Kenddey’s insecurities ,i mean what more could Shay do to prove that he was in love with her ,i mean don’t get me wrong i too suffer from insecurities but i would hope that if someone like Shay was interested in me i wouldn’t question every single second that we were together ,i would enjoy that time and show them how much that meant to me ,because insecurities run both ways .
Also loved the side characters too 🙂
Overall loved this book ,i am a huge fan of Tijan Myers writing and i can’t wait to read more from her 🙂
Audio Review from April 2019
This was my first Tijan book and I was not disappointed.
The main female character got shit handed to her on a regular basis her first year of college yet she didn’t let it get her down (too much at least).
Savannah Peachwood was perfect for this role! Young and sweet sounding but she gives the backbone some umph nicely!
Now the only question is what the heck to read next!
“I don’t play fair. Ever. You should know that about me.” – Shay Coleman
Instant chemistry and sassy suspense! Both noted, are the drawing aspects of Tijan’s enemies to lovers, dark sports romance—Hate to Love You.
“I’m broken now.” – Kennedy Clarke
Shay Coleman is not the typical jock; He is everything that Kennedy Clarke despises. When the two are brought together through a group project, well, Clarke finds Coleman’s charism irresistible. And, despite her issues with hot guys and social climbers, Kennedy turns the situation to her satisfaction. Even when life throws her curveballs, setting her out of bounds, all while facing the indecision and traumas, requiring a new perspective of second-chance enlightenment.
“You’re going to ruin me. I just know it.”
– Kennedy Clarke
Overall, I found this new adult sports romance just as captivating as it’s title. As expected, Tijan uses the grit of life challenges, allowing her characters to grow and develop sound conclusions. However, I was a little disappointed that an epilogue was not included, but was able to infer enough for a decent conclusion.
If you fancy a suspenseful, dark romance with an intense heroine, then I recommend this book.

: 4.5+/ 5
I just did a re read of this book. I now remember why I loved it so much. This is a hate to love romance. I girl who trusted once an was really hurt. So she planes to go to college. Just study and get threw it. Nope not going to happen. She meets boy he sees threw her. But she can’t seem to see threw him or trust him. She gets hurt over and over again but he is always there for her. I love this book. Amazing work Tijan.
This was a really thought-provoking book when it comes to consent and standing up for people, regardless of gender. I think it’s a timely book. I liked Kennedy and the way she stood up for herself and was brave, even when it was hard. Shay reminded me too much of Mason so it was hard to keep Kennedy separate from Sam in my mind.
What a great story. It had its drama at times and things got a bit sad. But this was such a good funny read. Definitely loved these characters.
If you haven’t read this book go read it
The first book I read by Tijan and it hooked me instantly! I’ve now read so many and can’t wait until she comes out with a new book! Never disappointed!
As usual Tijan took this book in a direction I didn’t see coming. Kennedy has her reasons for being cagey and cautious but Shay breaks down her defenses. This story becomes so much more than the college quarterback and the freshman who catches his eye. There is so much more at play and when the hardest moments for Kennedy come Shay is right there staking his claim and being there any way he can for her. It all started with him messing with her to get a reaction but it turned into so much more. The proclamation of love might just be one of my favorites. Shay Coleman was so swoon worthy when he showed Kennedy how he felt.
A great book!kept me wanting more, and beautiful ending!
An emotional read!
I hated him on sight…
And he was about to break all my rules…
An emotionally charged read that deals with the darker side of college and of the world. I’m glad the author tackled those issues in college. She brought attention to it when other books I’ve read just skim through it and act like it’s nothing. So, bravo to the author!
I really liked the novel but honestly it felt flat to it (except the issues). I felt hardly any connections to these characters – only at certain times. Overall, it was a really good, emotional book.
Full of attraction, issues, fear, trust, friends, family and love.
Perfect for readers of contemporary romances.
The main character is an original with real feeling and true heart. I love the fact she chooses to tackle her battles head on. No falling off her stilettos while being chased by the killer for this lady. Kudos!!!
Loved this book
Couldn’t put it down. This was the first book I’ve read from this author and I’m quickly making my way through the rest of her books.
