Our love wasn’t enough. He had demons. I had hopes. Together we were never meant to be. That didn’t stop us, though. Even when it should have. Even when I saw those demons loud and clear. I should have stayed away. Should have never looked back. But love, it’s a fickle thing. And sometimes… You need to embrace the darkness. Or let it destroy you. I was drunk once. Now, I’m sober.
This book was absolutely amazing I loved every second of it.
“Tantalisingly tipsy on T.L Smiths words”
I began reading this around midnight with the intent of reading a few chapters and I turned the final page just after 4am. We’ve all said just one more chapter, but this book compelled me to continue reading until the last page was turned.
What a brilliant way to conclude the Love Me Duet. Gunner was abrupt, brash, adamant it was his way or the highway. He was so full of self importance that he never expected Claire to actually take a step onto the motorway. She was brave putting her heart on the line, sticking to her beliefs and not lowering her expectations or standards. Gunner was cruel, poked barbed comments into her bleeding heart, using them like a shield to protect his own. I cried through the broken, twisted love they shared and there was never a doubt that they lived each other. I hoped they’d compromise and see eye to eye, but they were poisonous together. He never stopped trying to protect her even when being toyed and played with by the other characters. Go grab a copy now!
Hate Sober, is the conclusion book to the Love Me Duet.
Prepare for the unexpected and more importantly prepare to be thrown off guard. If this is what this author intended. T.L. Smith certainly didn’t disappoint.
This book was just like the first one, it was manipulating, compelling, and this duet is no exemption. A devastating beautiful read about embracing the darkness that consumes you and setting those demons free. A must read for those of you who love Twisted, cold and calculating reads.
Everly has to be my most favourite heroine, she is one strong, determined and brave woman. Even though she had to learn through the hard way of falling in love so fast and realising that the love they shared wasn’t enough that she would be faced with the demons that possess the other person. Sometimes when you brace the darkness, you need to prepare for it to destroy you.
Boy didn’t it destroy, it’s a fickle thing sometimes. The darkness within.
I’m a sucker for guys like Gunner when I read my books, where people grew to dislike him at the end of book one and the start of book two. I was stuck loving him throughout.
The heartache you watch Gunner go through, the pain, will absolutely break your heart. The thing about growing up the way Gunner did, is you believe that what you’ve been taught is the way you should become. In the eyes of many, a monster.
Throughout the see the journey of Gunner realising what is important and him working on himself to fight his way through those problems he has been faced with.
I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. You should definitely check out this duet.
Hate Sober is book 2 in the Love Me Duet by T.L. Smith. And once again Mrs Smith has captivated not only my attention, but my heart. After reading Love Drunk I couldn’t wait to see what was in store for Gunner and Everly. And i anxiously awaited Hate Sober.
Now I’ll be the first to say, after Love Drunk Gunner Reid wasn’t my favorite person. But I knew he was a tortured soul, I knew there had to be more, that he indeed had a heart. And WOW! In pure TL fashion she had me so in love with Gunner Reid before I got 1/2 done with Hate Sober. He won my heart, my heart broke for him. And i kinda got pissed at Everly quite often. But in the end these two finally got their crap together, and let’s just say I enjoyed EVERY SINGLE MOMENT of this duet. I highly recommend it!
I couldn’t wait to start book 2 of the Love duet after the cliff hangar we were left with in Love Drunk. I didn’t know how I would ever be a fan of Gunner after book 1 but TL Smith once again works her magic and proves me wrong in Hate Sober. This was an amazing conclusion to the story of Everly and Gunner!
This is the second book in the love me duet and it was a marvelous ending!
I gotta say I was kind of on the fence about gunner and everly’s ending because of the first book. it was another rollercoaster full or emotions, not all good but well worth it. TL does not dissapoint and some other characters make an appearance so that was well liked.
What a way to keep one on their toes. Hate Sober by T.L. Smith was an exceptional conclusion to this duet. With the perfect amount of suspense, lust and tension it made for a thrilling read.
After walking away, or so she thought, Everly becomes more aware of her surroundings. With everything on the line is she able to forget Gunner once and for all, or will their love be enough for him to slip his way back into her life?
I always love reading T.L. Smith, her books always seem flawless and so compelling. Aside from riding the coattails of my last review, I’m just going to say I EFFING LOVED THIS DUET!!
I highly recommend this.
Love Everly and gunnar exciting twisted conclusion
intense emotional broken beautiful
so ready for more
Hate sober

What a roller coaster ride !! Oh i loves every minute.
TL Smith knows how to write a series that will hold you captive
!!
I loved it and can’t wait for more from her !!
I loved seeing the character growth in “Hate Sober”.
I think the biggest one for me was Gunner, he had a
way of life that was already ingrained in him. For him
to change and relearn and balance his way of life with
Everly ‘s was a big thing. It showed that nothing
mattered anymore if he didn’t have her by his side. So
he became a better man, not only for her but also for himself.
I was glad to see Everly put her foot down and get a backbone.
She had to stop everyone from continuing to make decisions for
her, especially ones that changed her whole world.
Hate Sober by T.L. Smith is the conclusion to her Love Me Duet . A dark and twisted tale of love and desire, twisted priorities, dominant tendencies and a second chance at love that could make or break a man of steel. Gunner and Everly’s romance is twisted and I wasn’t quite sure how this could ever possibly end up anywhere good, but somehow the author managed it. I was quite relieved at the eventual ending and would be interested in reading more of the secondary characters in this world. Enjoy!
Hate Sober is second book and final book in Love Me Duet. After the cliffhanger at the end of the first book, I wanted to see what happens next even though I didn’t like the main characters. I have to say that the second book didn’t change my view. Everly is in dilemma. She still loves her husband but also hates him. We read the same thing over again and again. Gunner didn’t redeem himself at all (in the first book, I really hated him and still do). Overall, I really didn’t like main the characters. To me, Jasper (a side character) was more interesting.
Hate Sober is book two in the Love Me Duet. It can not be read as a standalone, you must read Love Drunk first. Everly and Gunner story continues in this one and it picks up where Love Drunk left off. Gunner and Everly’s story is intense at times. I loved the growth in the characters. And again in this one there are twists I didn’t see coming. If you read the first one you are definitely going to want to pick this one up and if you haven’t read the first one yet, this duet is worth picking up.
Oh man talk about an emotional roller coaster. This one had me once again loving and hating Gunner. T.L. Smith always delivers a book that will have you wondering why you are loving certain characters and stories so much when their story isn’t an easy, sweet one but you just can’t get enough. It is dark and twisted and oh so delicious. This one is definitely one you need to read after the first in order to truly enjoy it but you will love this duet.
Gunner holds his feelings so close to his chest that you have no idea what he is thinking pretty much throughout this book. You are going to want to commit acts of violence for sure. Everly will have your heart in your throat. She doesn’t know what she wants and I don’t blame her since everything hasn’t been what it seems around her.
Danger lurks, hearts are broken, souls seem crushed, enlightenment occurs and more, leaving you with a book you won’t get enough of. Definitely a must read duet!!!
We really enjoyed this story from beginning to end what and what an emotional roller coaster did this story take us on.
This story had an amazing set of characters that you could not help but fall in love with.Gunner was a character we where drawn to him the minute we met him.Gunner was one of those tall and dark and dangerous men that makes you
uneasy as his dominance and presence is always over the top and that always keeps you on edge as you never no how the man will act next.
“That man scared the sh** out of me but, I also knew if you were his he would protective you with everything he had and even giving his own life to do it.”
We always pick a favorite character and this time around its going to be Gunner as we loved seeing all the changes that this man went through and the struggles he had with wanting to become a better man for Everly and the kind of man she needed but also deserved.
Everly- We loved her instantly as we loved that she stood up for herself and demanded respect and equality in her marriage and when she realized that that would never happen she chose to make a life for herself on her own even if she would be leaving her heart behind,
Overall we loved this story from beginning to end and everything in between. This story made you feel and you saw just how messy life really can get and that love alone is not always enough. My heart went out to both of these characters as they were hurting and so in love that being apart was killing each of them and moving on was becoming a problem for both.
“We love the ending to this not so perfect love story !”
What would it be like to not be able not to move on be able to move on by a love like this ?
Gunner and Everly really had a difficult story. I wasn’t sure how things would turn out in the conclusion but all the drama and angst had purpose. A story that will keep you captivated til the end. All the feels in this story.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Hate Sober is part two of the Love Me Duet by T.L. Smith and picks up right where Love Drunk left off.
Y’all. Love Drunk had me captivated from the beginning, even through all the hate I had for Gunner. I knew I had to know what happened.
After leaving Gunner, Everly is trying to find her way out of the life she thought she was going to have. Her heart is shattered, torn in pieces.
Gunner still upset me so bad in this book, but not like he did in the first. He realizes his mistake and he lets her go. And I cried. SO DANG HARD! Because even though he treated her the way he did, I was rooting for them. I was ROOTING for them to find their way.
I couldn’t stop reading. This story, both books together, captivate you in a way that is unmatched. The books are beautifully written and spun together so intricately that you can’t help but stay rooted to the seat you are in and keep turning the pages to find out what happens. And we all know something has to happen. There is no way around it.
Gunner and Everly aren’t conventional. They aren’t tied together in a cute little package with a nice bow. They are real and raw and passionate. This book was everything I needed it to be to make this duet a perfect match.
If you haven’t dove in to read Love Drunk because you were waiting on its partner to release, now is the time to dive in! These books will leave you haunted, on the edge of your seat and wanting more!
Five beautiful amazing stars!
This is the second book in the Love Me Duet and picks up where the first book left off. Gunner is one controlling, heavy handed alpha male who pushed his new bride Everly too far too fast and is reaping the consequences of his actions. Everly is setting boundaries and discovering her non-negotiables but at what cost to her life and what she truly wants? Reading these pages is like being exposed to a beautiful ballet where one is mesmerized by the lines and grace of the dancers lifting one to the highest highs and then coming back down only to get swept away again by the choreography. Watching the growth between Gunner and Everly is like a roller coaster ride not knowing which way the track will lead. Are these two meant for each other or has too much transpired between them to try and stich up the chasm that divides them? This is one journey that the reader will have to hold on tight and bridge for the twists and turns and the emotions that will be wrought as the pages turn. This is one well written storyline that you should add to your tbr list. I volunteered to read and advance copy of this book.
Second book of the duet, Hate Sober is a slow burn. When Love Drunk as the first book is more fast pace, intense, whirlwind romance, Hate Sober going on the slower pace.
In this conclusion book, it’s not as dark as usual T. L trade mark. It’s actually more contemporer slow burn.
Even Guner change. Interesting to see his changes. I just wish there’s more from his POV so we know what happened to him and what he thinks.
And Every, I love how she stand up and say she can’t take it. She won’t take it even though she love him. Her reaction are normal for me. Not anyone can take Gunner’s “taste”
But one thing bug me, they never really have that in deep talk about his “bedroom taste” while Gunner portrayed to change his “skin” just for her and she can “compromise” to some of his taste.
I just think for a dominant and a submissive, even if their kinks only in bedroom, should be talk real good.
Overall, I love how these two takes time to fall in love and not just fall in lust
Hate Sober was a gripping slowburn that toyed with my emotions. After Love Drunk I didn’t think things could get any more chaotic for Everly and Gunner but their story was far from over and there were still so many twists left for them.
As much as I probably should have detested Gunner I couldn’t help but love him. I enjoyed watching him realize what was worth fighting for and how patient he was in pursuing it. Everly was so amazing in this book and was such a determined and strong woman. She grew into her own in Hate Sober and refused to just give in and allow others to dictate her life.
Gunner and Everly’s journey was intense, twisted, and heartbreaking but oh how I rooted for them. I enjoyed how their story kept me on my toes trying to figure out all the twists and turns thrown in their path. Hate Sober was an intense and addictive conclusion to this duet that I was sad to see end.
