Amazon’s #1 Most Unputdownable Book of the Year. An Amazon Charts bestseller.A Wall Street Journal bestseller.A Washington Post bestseller. From New York Times bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes an unexpected love story of secondhand hearts and second chances… mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.
Something blue.
I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”
Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.
The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.
He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.
But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.
Something new.
But I have no idea how this one is going to end…

I really enjoyed this well written story and characters! I thought it was witty, Charlotte was so fun! I like that they did jump right into the sex and built up the steam!! I listened to audiobook and like the readers voices, which is a big thing for me!! Look forward to reading more by Keeland!
A fab read, thoroughly enjoyed it.
I loved this book so much. The love story was so good, but the main characters sure didn’t have it easy. I highly recommend this book.
4.75 stars
I fell in love with the characters and story as I read. It was so interesting the idea of chasing someone because of a note and compare the real thing with what you had imagined.
Charlotte was such a badass character and I loved Reed since the start. They were perfect together in so many ways, and with such a perfect epilogue it was impossible not to tear up a bit.
Such a fun read.
This is a beautiful and hopeful love story. Loved Charlotte’s outlook on life. The dynamic duo has done it again, thank you Vi & Penelope.
For me when I find myself not skipping chapters so I can see what’s going on or how it’s going to end (and yes I do this audible too) that means I’m vested in the book I care about what’s going on and I’ve fallen in love with the characters. This was such a funny heartwarming story about love and acceptance, I’ve read books by this duo before and they never disappoint.
A fun read on winter break. Read it in one sitting!
Great book that will make you laugh out loud and maybe shed a few tears. This is a well written book with dynamic characters. I highly recommend this book to fans of the contemporary romance genre.
“It was amazing how bland a life could seem when the one person who matters suddenly disappears.”
‘Hate Notes’ is the story of Charlotte Darling, a woman who is left devastated when she discovers her fiancé cheating. In determination to get her life back on track she takes her wedding dress to a shop in the hope of getting some much needed cash. Upon browsing the store, Charlotte becomes captivated by a feathered wedding dress, particularly with how she feels upon reading a penned note attached to it.
Later that evening when Charlotte is attempting to re-evaluate her life and downs a bottle of wine, she takes it upon herself to locate the author who penned the words that she can’t shake… Mr. Reed Eastwood. Their first encounter is hilarious but shocking and leaves Charlotte feeling pathetic and reliant upon a stranger to help her recover. But little does she know that the stranger would have a hand in transforming her desperate situation into one she could have only dreamed of.
Reed is sullen, his pride wounded. After being left by his fiancé he has taken it upon himself to live a single life and to never allow himself to become a burden to anyone. When Charlotte turns up to view a property he is selling, she instantly ignited something within him- mainly anger.
The twos sparring relationship is witty and will definitely have readers laughing, but behind their banter lies a chemistry that’s building and eventually it becomes a tale of two broken hearts helping each other to heal. The story has some very unexpected plot twists some which as a reader were emotionally charged and had me teary-eyed, but it was those moments that really captured the depth of the writing.
I absolutely loved this book and was glad I discovered it. I would recommend to all romance/ chick lit lovers. This was the first book I’ve read by either author but it has definitely encouraged me to explore their collection if works.
Easy read. No depth.
Charlotte finds a blue note in a wedding dress in a second hand boutique that intrigues her. She stalks the name on the note and through a crazy drunk series of incidents ends up working as His Personal Assistant. Coincidence? Fate? Reed thinks Charlotte is certifiably crazy. His grandmother loves her.
Reed and Charlotte both had broken engagements but where Charlotte is optimistic, Reed is bitter. As they spend more time together, it is fun to watch the friendship evolve. And the blue Hate notes. The Bucket lists (not what they call them) are hilarious and as they help each other fulfill them and jealousy arises you can feel the sexual tension accelerating. The friendship they try to have is doomed. There is no way they can only be friends.
The surprises that occur in this book cause many twists that wind these characters up but allow them to finally evolve to a HEA. I loved Iris and Max as family, they were perfect. I also liked having dual POVs to allow us to know both H and h’s thoughts. And the epilogue Perfect. This is one of the best books I have read this year, wish I could give it more than 5 stars!
I loved this book and couldn’t put it down highly recommend
Oh I loved this book! I loved how Charlotte never gave up, and how he proved he loved her regardless of how hard he pushed her away. I even loved the epilogue and how far into the future it was. This book was funny, and heartbreaking.
This book took me completely by surprise, I was fully expecting comedy, and while, it is a really fun story, it also contains this undeniable amount of angst that continues to rip my heart out through out the full story.
Charlotte and Reed stole my heart from the very beginning, well, at least Charlotted did, cause I have to admit that initially I thought of Reed as a pretentious man, and while he behaves like one, while turning the pages you discover how pure and big his heart is. And Charlotte? Her quirks, insane and charming personality made me love her instantly.
These two had a complicated relationship from the first time they met. Though, I must say I really enjoyed their witty and fun banter. But even when they made me laugh out loud, they also took my breath away when they shared some heartfelt moments. They truly belong together. As they were falling for each other, I fell for them as well. I laughed and hurt with them too.
Hate Notes has it all. From the most hilarious moments, to the most moving ones. But it also has some crazy and heartbreaking ones.
Touching, funny and beautifully awesome.
This was a quick fun read for me that I really enjoyed! I liked the main characters a lot and was really pleased with the epilogue that let you get an inkling of their life together years later.
I love this book to bits!
It made me cry, laugh and love all the characters.
It definitely a great read to me.
I want this book to be my something blue someday.
One of my fave read this year!
I struggled with writing this review as much as I struggled finishing this book. This was a one click for me and I was truly excited for this one. I have loved books by this writing duo in the past and had high hopes. I know this will be a very unpopular review, but this book simply feel flat for me. There were some highs in this book (Reed’s grandmother was one), but there were too many different tropes going on in this one for me to feel vested in the characters. As far as the hero and heroine go, I did not feel connected enough to either to care about their happy ending. While I liked Charlotte’s positive outlook on life, I felt like she spent the entire book chasing Reed. No matter how rude he was to her she just came back for more. And while I didn’t hate Reed, he was not an alpha in a sexy way, but a mean way and I found him just meh. On the upside the cover is gorgeous.
loved it
Not your usual trope. The underlying conflict really surprised me. I really, really loved this one. A LOT. One of the best contemporary romances that I read in a while.
