Amazon’s #1 Most Unputdownable Book of the Year. An Amazon Charts bestseller.A Wall Street Journal bestseller.A Washington Post bestseller. From New York Times bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes an unexpected love story of secondhand hearts and second chances… mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.
Something blue.
I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”
Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.
The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.
He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.
But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.
Something new.
But I have no idea how this one is going to end…

Take the journey with this couple. There’s laughter, angst, raw emotion. Hate Notes is an addicting tale from beginning to end.
I’ve mentioned before in my reviews of Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward’s collaborations that the titles and blurbs often belie the serious themes and intensity of the stories and that was definitely the case with Hate Notes. In fact, this book was a double-whammy as far as the serious themes. I may have teared up a time or two, and there weren’t even any dead dogs (well, not really).
Reed Eastwood did not endear himself to me when this book first started. Thankfully, Charlotte Darling was much more open-hearted and forgiving than me, she saw the façade he’d put up and knew it was protecting a terrified and hurt part of him. Eventually, he wore me down with his wit, honesty (in most regards), and melancholy. Reed was far more than I initially gave him credit for, and his distressing past made my heart ache for him.
Charlotte Darling was immediately sympathetic. Perhaps because we meet her in one of the lowest moments of her life, but more likely because she is just one of those people you can’t help but like – even if, like Reed, you really want to dislike them. Charlotte was perpetually happy and good, something I can’t relate to on a personal level but always admire when I see in other people. She had every reason, and then some, to be surly and mad at the world, but she saw the virtue in everyone – and everything. Charlotte was the sunshine that came into Reed’s life when he desperately needed it.
Hate Notes was a slow-burn romance, spanning several months, it took the time to let Charlotte and Reed’s relationship build block-by-block, inching toward something so much more than I could have anticipated. I loved that they were able to build a solid foundation of friendship and trust before they acted on the chemistry that had been brewing between them from their first meeting. Once they finally crossed that threshold, there were no secrets, no lies, nothing lurking around the corner to tear them apart and it was beautiful. Almost as beautiful as the love they’d nurtured and held tightly in the months it took them both to finally admit to.
OMG! This book blew me away! Charlotte found her fiancé cheating on her. She goes to sell her wedding dress to a consignment shop and finds a dress with a blue note attached to the lining. Curious she looks up Reed on Facebook and finds he is not married. So she books a showing of a house on impulse just to meet him. This book has all the feels and the true reveal of why Reed is the way he is does not come immediately—so watch for the plot twist. As for Charlotte, she is truly a nutty ray of sunshine that Reed desperately needs in his life. I love their individual “bucket” lists. This is a must read! 5 amazing stars!
6 Hearts!
Hate Notes is the newest masterpiece by one of my favorite writing duos, Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. I don’t know how these wonderful women keep writing better and better stories. The characters are outstanding, the storyline unique and emotional. I found myself reading faster and faster to see what was going to happen but then forcing myself to slow down because I wanted to savor every word and I didn’t want it to ever end! Charlotte is brokenhearted over her own broken engagement only to find the most romantic note inside another wedding dress. After a little searching, she finds the owner of the note and he’s gorgeous! But obviously his story didn’t have a happy ending either. Reed must be so romantic and swoony and lovely to have written such a note. Right? Well, not exactly. As fate would have it, Reed’s is now Charlotte’s boss and he’s nothing like she thought. He’s condescending, jerky and obnoxious. At first. Then Charlotte notices parts of that sweet, romantic man hiding behind something inside of Reed. But Reed doesn’t let his guard down very often. It’s as if he uses his jerkiness to push her away. They have a very interesting relationship. Yes, they are boss and assistant, but they are also both stalking each other and revealing secrets. It’s hilarious and heart-warming at times, but Reed keeps pushing. Charlotte is like no other woman he’s ever met. She’s gorgeous, fun and smart, but she’s also nuts! She has the most amazing outlook on life. If something pushed her down, she gets right back up, dusts herself off and learns from it. She wants to live life to its fullest and enjoy every minute. Reed wishes he had the luxury of doing that himself. Charlotte has a F It List of things she wants to do! And she inspires Reed to create a Bucket List. They can’t keep their lists private, so together they form a friendship to start marking things off their lists. Reed wants Charlotte. He wants her body, her soul and her heart, but he just can’t go there again. Charlotte tries every tactic to get through to Reed, but he’s not falling for any of them. The attraction and chemistry are there, but he’s holding back. Can Charlotte show Reed that they are worth the risk? Will Reed realize Charlotte is The One before it’s too late? I LOVED this story! It’s one of my favorites of the year. If I didn’t already believe in fate, love and destiny, Reed and Charlotte would have convinced me. Everything happens for a reason and these two were meant to be together. There was more at work here than mere Fate. Just meeting Charlotte unlocked something inside Reed. They were destined to both end up where they did and you just can’t stop destiny. You can fight it. You can push it away. You can even ignore it. But, it will catch you and it will show you the way. In the end you just have to trust in yourself, your love and the person you’re meant to be with. Charlotte made Reed a better man. Reed showed Charlotte who she wanted to be. Their love story is epic! It’s filled with humor, sexiness, attraction, sadness, loss, fear, hope and longing. I laughed, cried, shook my head, rolled my eyes, cheered and cried some more. Charlotte is a hot mess, but she’s fierce, loving, funny and determined. Reed is sexy in his bow ties and suspenders, but he has so many layers and I enjoyed watching them all get peeled away. Iris is the greatest grandma! I want to be her when I grow up! The ending was perfect and I had to read it more than once through the tears streaming down my face. I’m sad their story is over, but I’m so thrilled I got to experience it!
Dear Charlotte: Do you know why squirrels love you so much? Because you’re NUTS! Reed.
“What do you need, Reed?” Although I was annoyed, I also couldn’t help myself. Unintentional rhymes were just funny.
“You just amused yourself with a rhyme, didn’t you?”
“Darling as in my last name, with a bid D not a little d, right? That’s ok, I like big Ds.” She did not just say that. I bet you do, Charlotte. And in another life, maybe I’d give it to you.
Reed’s smile was a gift. It was rare, but when it happened, it totally consumed me for as many seconds as it lasted.
I am always looking forward from these two amazing authors. Individually, they’re amazing – together they’re unstoppable. Hate Notes is just one of those book which fit right into your top-shelf.
It started with a note sewn into a wedding dress. Charlotte’s relationship just went to the drain when her fiance cheated on her. She found this note when she was about to sell her dress. This note, gave her hope, and somehow the curiosity to find the enigmatic man who wrote this note.
Unfortunately, Reed wasn’t the sweet guy depicted on the note. He was an arrogant beast. A sexy, irresistible arrogant beast, that is. But it didn’t stop her curious mind to find out the history behind the note. Good thing that she was now employed in his company, not that he wanted to. The more time they spend together, the more she knows him. The more she knows him, the walls he erected between them just got stronger. Will she be strong enough to destroy those walls and let herself in?
This book is simply a great read. Not just it was a splendid romance that will tickle your hearts, but authors surprises us with something I didn’t see coming. Reed may have been an a** in the start but he had his reasons, and it was completely a show-stopper. Definitely, love will find a way – despite all circumstances. Despite the fact that we try not to, prevent it – love is too powerful to stop. I was glad that Charlotte is stubborn and amazing. She’s a great girl who was willing to do anything to fight for her love, and not just that, for life as well. She’s afraid, but she takes risks. Because of that, she had Reed.
The Epilogue – I’m pretty sure I saw some video of that out on social media – and yet it didn’t stop me from getting teary-eyed. Aw. It was such a great way to end the novel. The scene, the emotion was just perfect.
Hate Notes is fun, heartwarming, sexy and romantic read.
Keeland and Ward have rocked it again with another hit story!!! What you have is a sassy, sweet and hope eternal heroine- CharlotteDarling . Then throw into the mix a sexy, moody, gruff hero- Reed Eastwood. Which equals 1 insanely steamy, intense and emotionally beautiful read that hits all my must read buttons. The angst, the banter, the emotional feels, the laugher, the heat and heart, the angst, the heartwarming moments are just some of these reasons why I not only adore Hate Notes but if you believe in romance, true love, 2nd chances, and have dreamed of conquering a bucket list, then this is THE book for you; you will love this exciting and fantastic 2nd chance at love romance story.
My Rating: 4.8 stars *****
I couldn’t be happier after reading this amazing story. Each time I read a Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward story, I always feel this immense happiness in my soul that I can not explain. I don’t know how they do it, if they synchronize their brains or what, but they always give us an outstanding, heartwarming and life learning story.
HATE NOTES is an emotional gripping story, that will make you cracking up with the hilarious interactions and it will have you in tears as well. I adored the push and pull between Reed and Charlotte, both have been burned by someone they cared for and now they have trust issues, however Charlotte still believes in romance and she will show Reed to trust in that and love again.
Their attraction and connection is strong, palpable and INTENSE. The slow burn is so consuming and perfect, they started as enemies, then friends and hoping for more.
The problem is not Reed’s lack of love, it’s not exactly a problem, it’s a condition that makes Reed think that he can’t have a forever with Charlotte.
You really can’t miss this book, if you haven’t read Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, you’re not reading romance at all. Their stories are amazing and each time they co write the result is just perfection!!!
This book!
Reed and Charlotte meet under false pretenses and their first meeting was one for the books to say the least! Talk about cringeworthy. Eventually Charlotte ends up working for Reed and he’s not pleased at all. Despite his disdain for Charlotte, he is attracted to her as well. This is where the book was tricky for me because Reed was such a jerk. Like he irritated me to no end with his hot and cold. Rudeness. And whole demonar. As time passes Reed becomes the man I was hoping he would be. He really redeemed himself for me in this book and I loved it!
Charlotte was a spitfire with a heart of gold. Even though life has dealt her a crap hand at times she’s still the “glass is full” kind of girl. Albeit a bit naive at times. Charlotte also did mature in this book and it made me happy. I loved her character so much and wanted nothing but the best for her!
As this story progresses the layers are peeled back, secret revelations are revealed and my jaw was dropping. I had to re read certain parts twice and at one point I dropped my kindle. As a long time reader of these authors, I knew the twist was coming but even I wasn’t ready for this! This book had my emotions all over the place as I read! This book has such an original plot and I loved how it made me think about my own life at times.
Ward and Keeland are my favorite writing duo. Hands down. Their writing was FLAWLESS in this story and everything just flowed. At times I forgot that it’s two people that wrote this book. I’ve read several books by these authors and this has become my top favorite from them. This story took me out of the dreaded book slump that I was facing. Thank you ladies and I can’t wait to see how you ladies out do yourself next!
If you love romance stories you need to read Hate Notes!!! I was about half way through when I knew that I would be rating it 5 + stars and if I could rate this book higher I would.
These 2 women, Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward know how to yank out every emotion that you can feel with reading. This book has ALL the feels. I got chills, I cried, I laughed and cried some more! The absolute best book. A MUST READ!
Hate Notes is Charlotte Darling and Reed Eastwood’s story. A TRUE Romance!!! I thought Charlotte is an original! Her kookiness is so refreshing! I love the way she thinks. No wonder Reed couldn’t help himself falling in love with her.
I absolutely LOVE the way Reed proposed! 😉 And, the epilogue is the best! I Love Hate Notes. Bravo, Bravo Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward!
I’ve loved all of the books I’ve read by these two authors so far but I really think Hate Notes will be one of my favorites! I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Reed and Charlotte; definitely laughed a couple of times and then when the story took a turn I didn’t see coming, I had tears in my eyes. Why that was, I’ll let you discover. One thing I really love about books is that they take you into a world where you can really lose yourself and maybe somehow you’ll find a piece of you there as it resonates with you and after reading this story, this one definitely will with me…
Charlotte found her ex-fiance cheating on her and is trying to deal with it the best she can. When she’s in a store selling her wedding dress, she founds a note inside a beautiful dress that caught her eye and one that will turn her world upside down; a note that makes her believe in love again. When a drunken night leads her to do something she’s never done before, she looks up the guy that wrote the note and ends up going to a showing of a penthouse. But it’s turning up to be a rude awakening! When finding herself in a real predicament, she’s being offered the job of a lifetime and takes the opportunity with both hands. Little does she know that the man she thought she’d never see again, is going to be her new boss…
Reese has been dealing with a lot of issues in the past year and when his new asssistant is standing before him, he thought he’d never have to deal with her again after the penthouse mistake! Even though they get off on the wrong foot, there’s something about Charlotte that interests him but he’ll never let it show. But life has a way of throwing you curveballs and the more they are intertwined with one another, they find they have more in common than they thought. Maybe there’s more than a work relationship between them. But Reese hides a secret that may end up coming between them or is it the walls he has up that will push Charlotte away in the end?…
Hate Notes is my FAVORITE of all the books Vi and Penelope have penned, without a doubt. This story is by far different from the others, deeper for sure.
I really did appreciate how much time they took to connect Reed and Charlotte. Nothing was rushed at all. I took my time, and enjoyed the slow burn.
Aside from the always funny and quirky banter, Vi and Penelope really brought the angst and drama for this one. And a boat load of tears. This story is so emotionally charged, I certainly wasn’t expecting all the emotions that came along with this story.
The whole idea behind the blue note, and then the actual Hate Notes. and the Lists! It’s the whole basis behind their clever plot.
Charlotte is a dreamer, maybe a bit crazy. But all these fun details about her are what make her different and stand out as a heroine. And God, did I love her quirks. And LISTS! She was funny, and full of life, just what Reed needed. Although he’s tough as nails (because it really takes him some time to soften up to Charlotte) he does fall for her, because how can you not! Reed has to be one of my favorites Hero’s they have written.
And the secondary totally rocked!! Iris! That’s all I will say!!
This is a MUST read! I plan on re reading this again and again!! 5 Stars all the way!
Wow! Such a heartwarming and emotionally charged read! I laughed and I cried and I swooned. Even though Reed could be an a$$ at times It still didn’t make you hate him. Especially when you find out his reasoning. Constantly held my attention. It sucks you in from the beginning and makes you feel like you’re part of their journey. I loved Reed and charlotte’s story. Another amazing read by these two authors. Every book they co-write together just gets better and better. I loved it! I can’t wait to see what’s next. Definitely a must read!!
NO SPOILERS!
Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward have written another unique, sweet, sexy, emotional, and surprising standalone contemporary romance with Hate Notes, and I absolutely loved it! The storyline and characters were phenomenal, and I loved the authors’ writing style. Everything Vi and Penelope have co-written together has been a hit, and Hate Notes has been one of my favorites from them so far!
The storyline was unique, refreshing, romantic, and I loved it so much. Vi and Penelope have never ceased to surprise me when it comes to the stories they create, but I always know they’ll be thoroughly addicting and entertaining. The story they created in Hate Notes was fantastic, and it immediately sucked me in. It has definitely been one of my favorite plots from them so far, and I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved the enemies-to-lovers/office romance aspect, among several others, and the push and pull between Reed and Charlotte was excellent. There were a few instances that I didn’t like as much, but overall I fell head over heels in love with Reed and Charlotte’s story.
The characters were amazing, and even that description doesn’t do them enough justice. Reed Eastwood and Charlotte Darling were sweet, feisty, and stubborn, yet kindhearted to the core. I couldn’t help but fall head over heels in love with them and their story, and I loved every moment of the journey. I loved Reed and Charlotte’s personalities and red-hot chemistry together, and how most of their relationship progressed throughout. It was a little slow at times for me, but everything was definitely worth it in the end. I loved reading Hate Notes from both Reed and Charlotte’s point of view, and nearly all of their banter and interactions with each other. I also loved a few of the secondary characters, and really enjoyed their addition to the story. Reed and Charlotte’s journey was special and unique, and I’ve certainly never read anything quite like it. It was everything I wanted and needed out of a Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward co-written novel, and I was overjoyed with the conclusion to Reed and Charlotte’s story.
Hate Notes was another unique, sweet, sexy, romantic, and emotional standalone contemporary romance from Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, and I would HIGHLY recommend it! Vi and Penelope blew me away with Reed and Charlotte’s incredible and unforgettable love story, and I was extremely happy with the outcome. Vi and Penelope continue to be two of my top favorite authors, and when they collaborate together, it’s pure romance magic. I am very much looking forward to devouring more of their amazing stories!
Vi Keeland and Peneleope Ward in one of my favorite authors duo. This gilrs know exactly how to write great romances . Of course Hate Notes is no exceptions. This story is everything what I love in „ViP” wrtitting style. I find here funny moments, sweet , sexy, but also not this easy ones. I couldn’t put this book down since the begining, but as I said …. “Unputable” books are in Vi and Penelope’s kind.
I loved also how girls started this story… After reading first words I knew that I’m losted for a while, that my kids can do anything what they want around because mommy is diving in reading time ;).
But… lets back to Reed and Charlotte This couple is just as amazing as they could be…. Vi and Penelope are thier “mothers”, right???? That’s WHY this book is full of HATE and LOVE… Reed with Charlote are so belicious together in it… I feel very sad that I’ve already finnished page number “Last”.
When I’ve meet Charlotte I was so sorry for her, my heart broke down.. but I was sure that this amazing girl won’t give up. And I was soo right Chatlotte find something interesting to watch… she just didn’t expect that this ONE thing will change her life. Meeting Reed was so full of plesaure as eating jar full of salt could be .. He’s such a … jerk in really KeelandWard’s way. I knew from the first moment… here’s my next bookish Alpha Male! He and Chatlotte have so much chemistry and it’s one if my favorites parts. Thankfully as every bad boy Reed has heart, somewhere behind his tough guy pose.
Readers maybe wondering what this Hate Notes mean ??? I need to said I was very suprised how much love I find also in this words. Hate… Love… HEA are here one of the bests kind.
I can only count on my fingers the books I’ve read in one sitting, and honestly, it’s been quite a while for me, but let me tell you—I devoured Hate Notes like there’s no tomorrow. Once I dove in, there was no coming up for air until I hit that very last page. And even then, I still wanted more. This book was just that addictively good.
“I think it’s better to spend years treasuring a memory that might hurt sometimes than to never make one at all.”
Reed Eastwood was a very compelling and interesting hero. He’ll keep you on your toes from start to finish with his attitude that ran hot and cold, and that enigmatic air that always surrounded him. When Charlotte first met Reed, he was just this egocentric, condescending bastard you’ll want to punch. But as you get deeper into the story, the more you start seeing a very different side to him that’s just purely irresistible and sweet and charming. He’ll hook you in, and you’ll want nothing more but to know everything there is to him.
“You want to feel me for one night? I’ll make you feel me for days.”
Although as intriguing and drop dead swoon-worthy as Reed was, I was utterly consumed by Charlotte Darling. I just fell head over heels in love with her. Her quirkiness and sweetness and huge heart made her such an extraordinary heroine. She had me laughing my butt off with her craziness right from the get go, but this girl also touched my heart. I want to have a soul as pure and light as hers, and to have the kind of optimism she always carried with her. She was bold and brave, and that got her the kind of love and happiness that only came once in a lifetime.
“Darling as in my last name, with a big D not a little d, right? That’s okay, I like big Ds.”
In Hate Notes, Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland undoubtedly did exactly what they do best—give the reader all the good vibes, yet still have you tearing up and feeling choked up a handful of times throughout the entire book. They’ll give you goosebumps from epic twists you never saw coming, and have your skin tingling from the intense sexual tension radiating from the characters. These two just never fail to tug at my heartstrings, singe and melt all of my insides, and make me laugh and giddy as hell all at the same time. Hate Notes was truly every single one of those and more—it’s ultimately the full package of an exceptionally beautiful romance I always yearn to read and escape in.
“I’ll always believe that I was meant to find you.”
If you want to swoon your heart out, have your toes curling with passion and your stomach swarmed by butterflies—do yourself a favor and pick this one up. Live, love, hope and dream along with Reed and Charlotte. You won’t regret a single second of it.
Reed and Charlotte have become one of my top favorite Penelope and Vi couples. I loved their story, the unique way they first meet. How fate seemed to intervene to bring these two together.
Charlotte was such a breath of fresh air. An eternal optimist, she has this natural ability to make people smile and brighten up their day. She’s been burned by a cheating ex-fiancé, but she uses this experience to finally do things she’s always dreamed of doing.
Reed seems to be the polar opposite. Always serious, quick to jump to conclusions about someone. He’s been burned in the past as well and it has left him jaded. He’s sworn to never fall for anyone again.
The chemistry between Reed and Charlotte is off the charts. A push and pull that drove me mad (in a good way) waiting for them to finally succumb to their feelings for each other. Their story is so emotional! I laughed, I cried, I wanted to hug them! I couldn’t put the book down, engrossed in their story so deeply!
Vi and Penelope wove pure magic when they wrote this book! The connection I felt between Reed and Charlotte was so tangible! Like I said at the beginning, these two are one of my favorite couples. I could read about them for years to come!
It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.

Holy freaking cow! What a FANTASTIC Read!! My review won’t do this book justice! Reed & Charlotte’s story was absolutely breathtaking! This will book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster in the best possible way! I was so sad to have finished it. I can’t recommend this book highly enough!
6 Hearts
Hate Notes is Vi and Penelope’s next breathtaking, and fun standalone novel. Not surprising if you follow my reviews, I did not read the synopsis. All I knew was that these kickass authors wrote it and notes were involved. Oh…and handsome man in a suit. Yummy!
It all started with a wedding dress. Charlotte had no idea that when she saw the blush feathered beauty that it would change her life. One act of fate turns into another and soon she has a new amazing job with a wonderful woman named Iris. What she didn’t expect was that her grandson, Reed was the man who unknowingly gave her hope when she found a note in the wedding dress from a man who loved the bride to not be. Running into him at his place of business wasn’t their first encounter however. And once again it wasn’t a pleasant experience. He was nothing like the man she though the would be. He wasn’t Prince Charming. He was more like Mr. Stick Up his Ass who thought she was a lunatic.
Reed did not want her here. Not in his building. Not in his space. Not in his head. He thought was crazy with a capital C. But she wasn’t going anywhere. Not if his grandmother had anything to do with it. And she did. He didn’t know what she was thinking when she hired her to be the family assistant. That was until he spend more time with her. She was smart, dedicated, and beautiful inside and out. Yet. Still crazy. She even made a Fuck-It list. He had no idea where she came from but she made him feel alive and that was why he needed to forget wanting her. In every imaginable way. He put his walls up over the last year and he had no plans of bringing them down.
Charlotte was on a mission. To get that stick out of her boss’s ass. She saw the way he looked at her. She felt their connection. He might have thought she was loony but she saw his smiles. He tried to hide them but she saw them. She knew it was fate meeting him and now she was going to prove it to him. Can she bring his walls down? Can she show him that love is worth it? That they were meant to be together.
I ABSOLUTELY fucking loved this book. Charlotte is a trip and I love her. She is a ball of positivity and energy. So unlike Reed. The workaholic. She brings out his funny side though and even when he is being an ass, I loved him. Their banter is hilarious. The sexual tension is hot. It’s a slow burn and I loved that. It made their story even more beautiful and hilarious.
Overall…I didn’t want it to end. It’s a fun and emotional rollercoaster of a story. I, both cried and laughed hard. Got hot and bothered and laughed some more. It’s a story I will never forget.
P.S. Air typing is fun.
Quotes:
“I see you learned a lot about professionalism during your time at Deez Nuts.”
“Screw you.”
“Whoa. Someone needs a ‘Backspace’ key.”
“Why are you so curious about me?”
Her eyes seared through mine. “Because from the moment I met you, I knew you weren’t the person you were portraying.”
All that pent-up crazy probably translated into one hell of a firecracker in bed.
You Are Everything
Charlotte is young, gorgeous and a mess at the moment. She’s still picking up the pieces from her broken engagement. And now she’s jobless!
Needing to get rid of her almost wedding dress, she falls in love with another dress in the store and takes it home. Inside the dress she finds a note from the groom to his bride-to-be. Now she wants to find out what happened to the happy couple she can’t forget. One night and a little too much wine, leads her to seek out the man who wrote the note.
Charlotte is bright and full of life. She’s happy and sees the joy in every situation. You cannot help but love and adore her. The man in the note…is her exact opposite. It definitely makes for an interesting and incredibly explosive interaction.
This story had so many layers. This author duo always touches on some heart wrenching topics and really tugs on those heartstrings. The characters pulled you in and made you become invested in their happiness.
I absolutely loved this enemies-to-lovers, slow burn romance! The wait for the fall…was so worth it! When you finally decide to follow your heart because loving her was never a choice…it was the way it was meant to be, because she was EVERYTHING!
If there’s one thing this author duo excels that, it’s writing love stories that are addictive, satisfying, and effortless to read. Hate Notes is no exception – I was charmed by this story from the moment I picked it up, and glued to the pages until the emotional, sweetly satisfying ending.
Did I mention I was charmed? That might be entirely due to the nutty little heroine. Charlotte is all personality and I was utterly charmed by her quirks, her steadfast heart, and her indomitable spirit. And make no mistake, Reed was no slouch in the charm department either. As the story progressed from a sort of lighthearted, playful beginning to a heavier, more emotionally packed middle and ending, my adoration of Reed only continued to grow. In fact, the balance of light to heavy here is nearly perfect and made for a compelling, interesting story on top of all the ways it set my heart aflutter.
In the end? Another fantastic release from a completely reliable pair of authors. I giggled, I cried, and I swooned – which is basically the perfect trifecta of emotion for any romance novel. I loved it, and definitely recommend!
