Amazon’s #1 Most Unputdownable Book of the Year. An Amazon Charts bestseller.A Wall Street Journal bestseller.A Washington Post bestseller. From New York Times bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes an unexpected love story of secondhand hearts and second chances… mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.
Something blue.
I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”
Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.
The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.
He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.
But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.
Something new.
But I have no idea how this one is going to end…

So much love for this book. The characters – even the minor ones – were so fun to read. There was so much laugh-out-loud, so much crazy, and this book will break your heart, but for me, it was so real and so endearing in more ways than one. Keeland and Ward broke the mold and did not disappoint in this refreshing, quirky, and romantically fun story.
Just finished Hate Notes! What a wonderful book!! This book has everything you need in a fantastic romance novel. It is going to be hard to find another book that live up to this one!
I have a confession: I’ve read books from both these authors and I have almost every book they’ve written together sitting in my Kindle, but this is the first one I’ve read. I can see the mouths dropping and “I can’t believe you” faces, but that’s the truth. Am I sorry I never found the time to read one before? Yes. That’s all I can say.
Now, where do I start? This book is one amazing story, so full of feeling and beautifully written. Charlotte and Reed are characters that are meant to be together and also meant to be loved by the readers and to stay in our hearts forever. The epilogue keeps running in my mind over and over like a movie on an infinite loop and it brings tears to my eyes every single time.
I seldom have the opportunity to read a book in one sitting, but that was the case with Hate Notes and the book hangover is real.
I loved everything about this book! I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I didn’t want it to end. So good!
The narrators for the audiobook were perfect!
Charlotte is a fun and confident woman but she lost her way. She was engaged to a man and had a job she thought she wanted but really, she had just settled for what she believed was the “right” life. When it all fell apart, she wasn’t sure what to do. Well, a drunken night, a crazy submission to view an expensive penthouse and one hysterical ‘meet-cute’ that lead to new beginnings for Charlotte. Reed gives off this totally up-tight vibe but you can tell more is going on and he has a heart of gold. Meeting Charlotte upsets his perfectly balanced world in a good way (for us). As these two navigate their off-the-charts attraction, we get to peel back Reed’s layers and find the true amazing man within. Charlotte also embraces her true self and forges a new path. Now, can they build something ever more incredible as a couple? Or will fears keep these two apart? Loved every moment of this incredible journey. There are many surprises along the way that kept me guessing and intrigued to find out what would happen next.
Hate Notes was a light, fun read, with great characters and a great story that will keep you hooked until the end..
Charlotte was trying to build her life again, after such a hard breakup but she wasn’t prepared for the changes were about to happen, not only she spends hours spilling her gut to a stranger in the middle of a bathroom, about her life and bad luck with men. but also she meets the love of her life without even knowing where was life going to take them..
“I’d joked about Charlotte Darling and her pixie dust. There was always something magical about her, the way she’d just appeared in my life and turned it upside down.”
Reed was so invested in his career that he wasn’t looking for anything formal, his past keeps trying to stop him from anything that made him feel happy.. he just wants to focus on what’s important but life has other plans for him and sooner or later someone special will change him forever.
“You’re beyond my wildest dreams. My love for you is infinite. You. Are. Everything.”
I laugh a lot with Charlotte, I love that she was strong and she didn’t take anything from Reed or anybody, she always stood her ground and made everybody know how she was feeling. she was bold and didn’t hesitate to talk about her feelings and that’s exactly what made it impossible to stay out of her side.
“Love wasn’t about a beautiful dress, a note, or even poignant words. It was about being with someone through thick and thin, about seeing them through not only the best moments of life but also the worst.”
Overall the story was great, I laugh so much and cry with Reed’s stubbornness more like I wanted to bring some sense to him..
i love the relationship and bond Iris and Charlotte have, it was really nice to see Iris supporting and helping to make possible something she knew was meant to be.. I also loved the changes of Reed character, in the beginning, he shows us a side of him that it felt cold but as the story goes, we get to see the real Reed, a romantic gentleman that was hiding all his love.
Get ready for a great ride..
That cover.
The last couple of their books have been hit or miss. This one was pretty good. I enjoyed the push and pull between Charlotte and Reed in the beginning. They had some funny moments, especially the air typing. I feel like they’re kind of using the same formula and of course there’s the slow burn. Yeah, still not a fan of that and it was meh when they finally got down to the fun times. But the epilogue gave me the feels, it was so sweet and touching.
I always enjoy the collaboration of Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward! Reed & Charlotte’s story keeps you on your toes & their story is a great hate to love tale. Take the time to enjoy!
LOVED this book! Read it as well as listened to iton Audible. Characters grab your heart from the beginning and don’t let go, even after you’re finished! Reed and Charlotte are the perfect match!
I fell in love with Reed and his prickly ways, and his ‘darling’, Charlotte, who made me laugh at her quirks. Charlotte’s endless optimism shines like the deep, thought-provoking soul she is. Reed endeared himself to me with every frustrating move to push her away, and pulling her closer in the next breath. These two have shown that love can heal and tame the prickly beast, but you have to open you hands, palm up, to let go of the past and receive the gift of your future.
I forgot how much Keeland and Ward can make me cry! My eyes and lips are puffy. My nose, red and stuffy. But I don’t regret reading a single word of HATE NOTES for a second.
Lord, Lord, Lord! This book!
I couldn’t put it down! Vi and Penelope, you made me cry and laugh from page 1 to the magical end! That epilogue was fantastic!
This is the kind of stories we readers take with us forever!
Did not want this book to end
Review on Goodreads and Amazon
I loved the J Iron Word quote! Everyone needs to have a love line that.
Loving this story been listening to the audio. Love Sebastian York.
I was captivated by this book from the very first page until long after it ended. This is a romance that is powerful, inspiring, emotionally raw, funny and breathtakingly romantic. Reed and Charlotte have a magnetic pull to one another. They share an intense connection on a soul-deep level that can’t be ignored no matter how hard they try to resist. The heart wants what it wants. Watching them fall in love was absolutely breathtaking. Their chemistry is electric and undeniable. The intimate scenes are passionate and incredibly sexy. The banter is witty and funny; they spar so well with each other. The storyline and characters are very well-written and relatable. I fell in love with these characters and their story. The writing flowed seamlessly between these two talented authors. The rollercoaster ride of twists and turns along the way that threatened to tear them apart was intensely emotional. The emotions just bled from the pages – happy, sad, angry, heart-warming and heart-stopping. I could feel every emotion they experienced. How they fight for one another and support one another was beautifully inspiring. I loved every second of this book and the ending is epic. If you want to read a book that will make you weak in the knees, steal your breath and have you laughing too than this is a book you definitely want to read!
I loved Charlotte. She was so down to earth yet had amazing. She had me laughing so hard for so many different reasons. She helped lighten Reeds tough and cool exterior by just being her self. The plot had me flipping to find out reeds past and what made him the way he was. That’s always a great sign in a book to me. Iris was a great side character who I couldn’t help but love and with that one of my grandmothers was like her. Her connection with Reed and understanding of him made him a lot more likable even when he was a jerk. Like always this author duo did not disappoint. I can’t wait to see what they come out with next. 4 stars #2OCCJD
I love a book with witty banter. Charlotte was nuts, but in the best way possible. Her air typing was hysterical! Reed took her craziness in stride. In fact, he kept going back for more. But boy did he fight the inevitable…with the best intentions. The little shocker of WHY he fought it really made me love him more!!
I own the ebook, audiobook and paperback. I’ve recommended it to coworkers. Honestly I can’t say enough good thinks about this book.
I am such a fan of both of these authors and have one clicked every time they decide to collaborate on a new book. Hate Notes had such an interesting concept and was filled with surprises. In order for me to give five stars, I really must admire both the hero and heroine. I loved Charlotte’s character so much and would be her BFF if I met her in real life. She is so optimistic, kind, thoughtful, smart, and witty. She is loving and passionate and while she takes life in stride, she also appreciates and seizes every moment.
How she comes to know Reed through the note he left in the dress she came upon is so unique. Charlotte is a romantic at heart and I loved her positive outlook on life. Reed is a different character all together. He grew up wealthy with an excellent education and is a smart businessman. Although some may not like sarcasm, I loved how he confronted her and called her out when he first met her while showing a multi-million dollar apartment.
Even though she tells fibs at times, her honesty as to why is so refreshing that you can’t help but love her. Reed sees this too and even though he has his reasons for avoiding a romantic involvement, he too falls under her spell as they spend more time together. Reed and Ivy both have been hurt as they were recently engaged to other people and it ended badly. But as they spend more time together at work, they realize they may have misjudged each other, and day-by-day, let their guard down a little bit more. I loved the slow build up and how explosive it was when they finally acted on their feelings.
His grandmother, Iris, is one of my all time favorite supporting characters. She is very wise and I feel gives the best advice. Iris didn’t have family of her own, and it was heartwarming to see how much Iris and Ivy cared for and respected each other. Iris may also have not always been honest, but she knew they were meant to be and used her years of experience to nudge them along. There are many touching and honest moments in this book, especially at the end, which was a surprise for me. I loved the extended epilogues which showed you a glimpse of their lives way into the future. Keep a box of tissues nearby
