Amazon’s #1 Most Unputdownable Book of the Year. An Amazon Charts bestseller.A Wall Street Journal bestseller.A Washington Post bestseller. From New York Times bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes an unexpected love story of secondhand hearts and second chances… mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.
Something blue.
I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”
Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.
The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.
He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.
But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.
Something new.
But I have no idea how this one is going to end…

4 1/2 stars. What a great book! I laughed and cried more than any book that I can remember.
Another winner
A wonderful enemies to lovers story that’s also about living in the present, I loved the setup here. I quickly came to care about both Charlotte and Reed, and the authors did a great job developing the relationship between the two. The mystery of why Reed and his fiancée broke up helps drive the first part of the story, while the second part is driven by the implications of that reason, and both parts kept me engaged in the story.
Laughter and tears, joy and sorrow, plus just the right amount of steam makes this another winner from this writing duo. 5 stars
So many moments in this book were serendipitous. I loved the banter between Reed and Charlotte, the constant push-and-pull. I was looking for a fun escape and the gorgeous cover attracted me.
It’s one of the hottest books out at the moment and with good reason—Keeland and Ward are a dream team.
Charlotte Darling was set to marry her boyfriend until she caught him cheating on her! Deciding to get rid of her wedding dress, she goes to Goodwill. While there she finds a beautiful wedding dress that she ends up trying on. Inside she finds a little blue note with a beautiful love note sewn inside. It is from the desk of Reed Eastwood. Charlotte needed to find out who Reed was so she sets up a showing of one of his properties and this is where the fun begins. After realizing what an condescending a$$ he is, Charlotte leaves and ends up in the lobby’s restroom crying. Unbeknownst to her, an elderly woman, Iris, is in there and begins talking with her. After their talk, Iris offers her a new job at the company she owns as the family’s personal assistant. Imagine her surprise when on her first day one of Iris’ grandsons is none other than Reed! Whoa boy…the dialog between these two will make you laugh out loud! Of course as Charlotte and Reed spend more time together, things start to get romantic. These two will take you on a fun, enjoyable ride as they work to get their happy ending. I just adored both of these characters. Charlotte was fun and sassy while Reed was totally all alpha with a sweet, romantic side. Their story will make you laugh, cry and swoon sometimes within the same paragraph! Overall this is another great book from this writing duo!
Charlotte is my favorite heroine ever! She is hilarious & I love her unique style. I enjoyed her love/hate relationship with Reed. I also really liked Reed’s brother, Max, and I hope he gets his own book!
Sweet love story with realistic characters.
I always enjoy the books by these two wonderful authors. I liked “Hate Notes”, though it is certainly not their best work. The story line moved a little too slow, and except for one plot twist, the book was typical for this genre. I do have to say, I wasn’t sure I was reading the “years” on the Epilogue correctly, as at first it seemed weird. Once I completed reading it, I understood why the Epilogue expanded so many years. 3.75 Stars
From the office of Read Eastwood: You will fall in love with Hate Notes!
Reed is my new favorite hero by Vi and Penelope! He is strong and is a force to be reckoned with. I am so happy that it is part of KU! Charlotte is a hoot! She knocked Reed’s socks off and is a pleasant surprise! I love her way in life and perspectives to it. I think that is one thing Reed loved most. Vi and Penelope have always been a wonderful duo and will always bring you a lot of emotion. The fears of Reed nearly crushed me. Charlotte’s free spirit was what he needed.
Hate Notes had me gitty, smiling, blushing, and shed a couple of tears. My heart was in my throat. I adored Iris and Max! Charlotte’s underline passion was amazing! I loved how the authors described her work in so much detail I was able to visualize it. There are so many surprises especially at the end that Reed has for Charlotte! BOY how I wish all surprises could end that way 😉 Hate Notes is a passionate read that will have you loving every page of it! A beautiful read as it will have you looking at our ups and downs in a new light!
Cute book, well plotted, cute cute cute. Kinda tired of cute heroines. But sweet. And cute. Did I mention cute? And sweet? But easy to read. Rom com material fo sho.
Just a great read. The wedding dress with the note, so tomantic
Very different book, which I can’t explain so as not to spoil anything. Not what I was expecting but so different that I loved it!
I’m going to admit, I went into this book completely blind. I didn’t read the blurb, I didn’t read reviews, but then again I never do. And I also didn’t look at any teasers leading up to the release. I knew I loved the cover, and that was pretty much it.
Oh my god! How I adored this story!! It was beyond amazing. It was funny, and sexy, and I even shed a tear or a hundred.
I was so emotionally invested in this story and the characters that I never wanted it to end, but yet it was so good I couldn’t stop reading. It was unputdownable.
Another fantastic co-write from this writing duo. And yet another must-read to add to your tbr.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters had an amusing animosity with underlying sexual tension that made for great humor.
Their relationship is not easy with seemingly insurmountable fear and loss at the heart of things. Iris is s master manipulator from moment one and I loved her. Charlotte is eccentric and impulsive and absolutely endearing. She’s says what she’s thinking and may be the worst liar ever. (Their meeting will have you ). Reed is definitely complicated and tough to get to know. But Charlotte doesn’t give up until she’s found the heart of the man.
There are so many great moments that had me laughing. But their journey in love, self-discovery, conquering of fears takes them to church, across the country and across the ocean. Their journey brings them together…finally. And the epilogue. Well let me say that I wasn’t sure whether my heart would break or if it was so full it might burst. Their love was truly beautiful.
Fantastic second chance Romance. This storyline rocks with an emotional tug at your heartstrings. Complex characters with great back stories; the romance built slowly and was well developed. Premise was a great one for the story. 5 star love.
I give this book 3.5 stars .
Ok Y’all let me start by saying who would not want a note like this from the man they are supposed to marry? I know I would. “She said, ‘Forgive me for being a dreamer,’ and he took her by the hand and replied, ‘Forgive me for not being here sooner to dream with you.’”—J. Iron Word
I know many may be put off by the heroine being so quirky but that is what I loved about it . I think Charlotte is great and Reed let me just say yum . Now when some of you may read this you might Reed to be a bit of an ass but I promise you stick it out and you will understand why he is the way he is.
Charlotte goes to a resale shop to sell her wedding dress that she no longer needs do to her fiancé being a cheating ass. What she finds there is fate in the making . I promise you this story will tug at your heart in many ways.
I do love a good enemies to lovers story and this one has tension in spades. They also had be at the blurb – sewn in notes? Hooked me good.
This is so out of the realm of my type of read, but wow did I ever love it. The evocative writing thrillingly captures the power of fated love and the universe-altering effect one person can have on another. It is romantic, amusing, and charming. The narration was exceptional and I really enjoyed the audible.
Hate Notes was fabulous! With Charlotte’s brand of crazy and the way she pushed Reed out of his comfort zone it was the perfect couple blend. Every relationship needs their yin to complete their yang and great couples know how to love the other person’s crazy to let them thrive in an environment with all their quirks.
What starts out as a “destiny” journey from Charlotte Darling (written with a big D because what girl doesn’t like a big D) when she finds a handwritten love note sewn into a second hand wedding gown.
Having just ended her own relationship and wedding plans Charlotte feels compelled (with a lot of wine talking) to seek out the man who wrote the note. She wants to find the man behind the romantic words and actually see for herself that love still exists and that it isn’t just a myth. Maybe if she knew the truth than there would be hope for her and her love life afterall.
Upon her meet-cute does she discover an uncompassionate, stick-up-the-ass, rude, arrogant, single man, Reed Eastwood. Charlotte doesn’t blame his ex-fiance for walking away from the angry, bitter man and now at least she knows why she found the dress for sale, yet still she ponders what happened to the man who’d crafted the beautiful words and what exactly made him change so much or had he always been this way and was he just duplicitous? She had a lot of questions, but assumed she’d have to live with the mystery as she never wanted to see him again, having walked away from Reed, but when destiny wants to help it always intervenes.
She never imagined beginning a new job, which is quite a story in itself, she would once again be in the direct path of one Reed Eastwood.
Ok so 5 Stars is not enough for this book at all. For a lot of reasons but just a couple are this is my top book of 2018!!! And another one as someone who has MS this book touched me so profoundly in ways that I do not have the words to convey just how much. And I think that when a book can reach down deep in your heart and soul and almost tell your story and make you feel so much emotion then that is the most perfect book you can read. I have loved every single book I have read of these two wonderful women but this one is my absolute favorite. Reed and Charlotte are the perfect couple. So if you haven’t read this book I highly highly recommend it!! In my opinion it is their best so far. – By Tina
Another amazing book by this author duo! Guaranteed to enjoy it!
