This story is expanded from the version in the Twisted Tales of Mayhem Anthology18+ for language and sexual situations…When Hatch, the beloved Sargent at Arms for the Dogs of Fire MC, finds himself falsely incarcerated, his woman, Maisie, must move heaven and earth to release him, while holding back a pack of ravenous bikers whose bite is worse than their bark.
One of the best things about long running series is the familiarity that the readers gain toward ongoing characters. Children have grown up in front of our eyes through the words on the page. The reader can’t help but fall for some more than others. Hatch it that character for me. Hatch has become my bike knight.
He didn’t have to stop to assist Maisie Mann, Road to Peace, book six in the Dogs of Fire, when she had car trouble. He showed that an alpha male could be a savior. He didn’t have to protect Maisie. He didn’t have to care for her daughter, Poppy, but he did. Hatch was the perfect man for them. He became one of my favorite characters. He became the perfect alpha male character through out so many books including spin-offs.
Hatch getting a special story seems apropos. He is now the President of the Portland Dogs of Fire and so much has changed. I was happily reminded of why I have such respect for the character within the first few chapters. He is happily married to Maisie, the damsel in distress. He has become a father to two boys. He happily accepts the affectionate name of Sid by his adopted daughter, Poppy. Thankfully he isn’t done yet.
Hatch isn’t just a story down memory lane. Hatch’s family continues to grow. The reader becomes acquainted with Maisie’s family somewhere in or near London. We learn about other club chapters. Most important to me, the author gave the reader a glimpse into future books. I am content in the knowledge that I won’t being say goodbye any time soon the a series that I have come to love and devour each release.
