I never thought my perp walk would lead to true love. Then again, I never thought I’d be arrested on RICO charges and hauled away in zip ties on camera for the world to see, minutes after closing the most amazing deal of my career. And all of it in front of my biggest rival, billionaire wunderkind Ian McCrory.I am broke.I am disgraced.I am alone.I am a sucker. But the worst part? I have to go back … am a sucker.
But the worst part? I have to go back to my hometown and live in my bedroom filled with relics from my childhood.
Lisa Frank never made me so mad before.
Just when I needed a rescue, I got one — in the form of help from my biggest rival.
He can’t bring back my money.
He certainly can’t bring back my reputation or my pride.
But there’s one thing he can bring back to me.
A sense of hope.
Maybe even love.
Ian sees something in me no one else does, and he’s relentless about making me see it, too. As we grow closer, I’m starting to see that while my entire life used to be a lie, the truth is staring me in the present — and it’s a truth I like very, very much, hot eyes and gorgeous smile and all.
But I have to be careful.
I can’t be too —
That’s right.
Hasty.
The final book in the USA Today bestselling Do-Over Series (Fluffy, Perky, Feisty), as Mallory’s sister, Hastings “Hasty” Monahan gets her turn at a happily ever after that starts off with an arrest.
Hers.
And ends with a surprisingly cheesy happily ever after.

Julia Kent takes us back to the land of quirk with her new book Hasty. We’re back with the girls, Mallory, Perky, etc and each have their own books now. While I think the reader’s enjoyment of the stories will be enhanced by reading the series, this book can be read as a standalone.
Hasty is really a story that’s about the journey Hastings/Hasty takes becoming a better person, which is good because, well frankly, she’s not very likeable. I didn’t care for her much in past books and I was worried about how Kent would bring her character full circle. My main issue with this book is that it’s pretty much the all Hastings show. Sure, her rival/hero is there throughout, both giving her grief and also standing by her side but bless his heart, it’s well over half the book before there’s much of a transformation for Hasty or a love story for Ian. The bulk of the book was her personal growth and it was just a little much for me. Kent’s signature quirk and humor are present and as usual, the story is well crafted. I enjoyed the series.

Hasty is the final story in the Do-Over series by Julia Kent. This story follows Hastings (aka Hasty) Monaghan, Mallory’s sister. Like all of the other stories in this series it is told from the heroines’ perspective only and is mainly focused on her and her backstory. I have not been a fan of Hasty through this whole series and her story did not help me like her much more. I may have enjoyed this story a little bit more had Ian, her hero, had more of a presence in the story instead of being in the background most of the time. There was the underlying humour that you experience in this series but this one had more of a heavier feeling than the rest.

What happens when an overachiever loses it all? She crawls back home and realizes the people she pushed out of her life are the only ones who really care about her. Including her hot nemesis Ian. But after the mess her husband, not husband left her in she has a hard time trusting. But her sister and friends tell her like it is and offer friendship. Then there’s Ian who always seems to be there. And then there is cheese, specialized cheese. Ian wakens her heart and cheese strengthens her soul. You’ll have to read this fun story to find out how. I volunteered to review a complimentary copy.
Hasty is book 4 in the Do-Over series. Each book covers a different person so they can be read as a standalone. Hastings is a great character. She was focused on work and being on the top but it all falls apart. Hastings has had the rug pulled out from under her with a husband that was stealing money under fake businesses. Hasting had gotten snobby but with everything going on and her living at her parents house she is more down to earth and nice. Ian was her rival but now he wants to help her. I loved Ian. He’s rich and sexy. He swoops in to help Hasty. She doesn’t want his help at first but then she melts a little and excepts. I liked these to together. I wasn’t sure how straight up Ian was but he did seem like nice guy. I did get a little upset with him towards the later part of the book. It’s a good story that had me hooked, like really hooked to the point where I forget to feed the children lunch.
So sad to see this series end! I enjoyed each and every story in it, it’s one of the best series I’ve read in a long time! 5 stars for Hasty!!
So if you’ve been reading the series (which I highly recommend because the books are all that great!) Hasty/Hastings, Mallory’s snobby sister finally has her day! When her world implodes, she’s forced back home to start her life over somehow. How do you go from million dollar homes, to back to your twin bed, in your old room, at your parents house? Now the man you despise, your arch rival Ian is trying to contact you, what are you going to do? Right ignore him.
Ian is just trying to offer Hasty a job, she’s darn good at what she does, but how can he get past the walls she’s got up?
You will love this book, and if you haven’t started the series, go back and start at the beginning! You will not be disappointed!
I have really enjoyed the books and this series. Hasty story was different and unique and I think for that reason it is my favorite. We have met Hasty in previously due to her being Mallory’s sister. The Hasty we see in this book is much different then the Hasty we have previously seen. I like how their was a love interest but the story was focused on Hasty pulling herself together and figuring out what life was now. Previously Hasty life has been her career, working to get ahead, and networking with the the right people. When that is all taken from her she is forced to dig deep to find what she likes and what she wants in life. Then you have Ian who is Hasty’s savior which I spent most of the book questioning his motives. I was glad to see that Ian’s motives was good and he was really just looking out for Hasty. Overall this is a good story. We get the humor that you expect from a Kent book, slightly emotional at times, and of course some sexy times.
I honestly wasn’t sure I would like this book, as I wasn’t a big Hasty fan from the glimpses of her in the previous books, but this ended up being my favourite of the series!
Hasty grows and evolves as a person throughout this book, learning new things about herself, and realising that who she was in the past, and the way she treated others, wasn’t the best way to be.
I loved this whole series, but the romance and character development in this one was a winner for me. Great read!
All the superlatives! This book is warm, funny, filled with wonderful verbal gymnastics, a story of finding yourself and unearthing a better version of yourself. Start at the bottom and work up. This is Hasty/ Hastings, in the last book of this fabulous series and, for me, the very best as it explores the power of adversity to help someone dig deep! Ian..just the swoooniest hero and so bloody patient!
Filled with sharp, witty dialogue, Hasty is an eminently readable book which is in a class of its own…a first class read which has given me hours of complete pleasure. Congratulations Julia! This is a total winner, and that’s saying something, as, for me, all your books are in this category!
Hasty is the 4th and final book in Julia Kent’s Do-Over Series. Hastings “Hasty” Monahan is a driven, calculating, self-centered business woman with primary goal of acquiring more money in prior books, so was not my favorite character in this series. I was curious how Julia would develop this plot & character so readers would “like” Hasty. It was an amazing roller coaster read- at times laugh out loud funny, or sad, or sweet & romantic. How Julia’s vivid imagination comes up with so many zany experiences/situations/connections in every book is amazing to me! Julia’s characters are always well developed with deep feelings, quirks which make them so human and surprising insights. Hasty‘s self awareness as she rebuilds her life made me fall in love with her. Ian was Hasty’s competitor in the business world, but has become her perfect friend/companion/lover.
While Hasty can easily be read & enjoyed as a stand-alone book, understanding the relationships of the characters from the other books helped enrich the story. I received an advanced readers copy of this book. I plan to reread the whole series because I like all the characters!
When we met Hasty back in Perky she’s just Mallory’s older sister who’s basically just a bitch to everyone around her and I dismissed her as a secondary character that was just “that sister” to our main character there.
The wonderful thing about Julia Kent’s Do-Over series is that you always see a full a complete cycle of growth from your main character. It’s full of heart and humor. It’s full of the classically laugh out loud moments that you have come to expect from a Julia book. As with the other stories in this series Hasting has some growing and learning to do to find herself after her life is turned upside down.
I think the things with it all this time is we all had to learn to love her while she was learning to let herself be truly happy and loved at the same time.
I came out of this story pretty sure that Hasty is now my favorite from this series. I think she’s the one that grew the most but also learned to still be the parts of herself that she liked from her life before.
I highly recommend Hasty. I recommend the whole series honestly if you haven’t let yourself visit the ladies of the DO-Over series please do it soon.
3.75*
We finally got Hasty..I mean Hastings’s story. If you’ve read any of the Do Over books, then she needs no introduction. I binged the first three books in this series last month and I love this world. It’s full of actual female friendships, which sadly is too rare. I loved the writing in this and the comedy was a strong selling point. I received an ARC and provided my honest review voluntarily.
This book is book #4 in the Do-Over Series and this author really knows how to write books that will have you laughing out loud in parts. This book is a great read and I love that it also has some twisty moments too.
This book is a great installant in this series and we get to see characters from the previous books to which is awesome, this book is defiantly my favorite in this series.
Hasty is a very independent woman and always strives to be better in life but this time life throws her a curve ball. Hasty has had to go back home to her parents after she has her world completely flipped upside down. Every thing seems to be falling apart around her and just as she is about to hit it big in her her career some thing happens and BAM! she’s in handcuffs and everything changes. When she gets home we see a change in her from who she was to her know and she goes though quite a lot.
Ian is a really great guy and he goes through a lot to try and get into her heart. Ian and Hasty have had this thing going where they have been rivals for the longest time but for some reason he helps her out in a big way.
Will she open her heart and let anyone in, she finds it hard to trust and is always questioning
I really like how this author writes her characters and I must say that these are my favorite out of the series. I loved the banter that they had and I found myself really rooting for them to get there own HEA. They have both have a lot of respect for each other and I loved that and this author has written them so good that the reader can connect with them totally and completely changes our mind about Hasty from what we already knew. I love this authors style of writing in all this series and all her characters were awesome individually throughout. This book is easy to follow and the story line follows and keeps you invested all the way though. This book will defiantly make you laugh out loud like all the others and you will love reading this awesome Rom Com book.
Hasty is the final book in the Do-Over Series and what a perfect story to end the series on, this is a fun entertaining read featuring Hastings Monohan. This was the book I have been waiting for and I wasn’t disappointed, it was everything I have come to expect from Ms Kent.
Hasty has worked hard to become successful but what will happen when the life she thought she was living turns out to be full of lies and deceit and she finds her world tumbling down around her. The only thing left for her is to go back to her hometown of Anderville, lick her wounds and try to start over but what she didn’t expect was for Ian McCrory to follow her back to the small town she grew up in but sometimes help comes from the people we least expect……
Ian is determined to help Hasty, he knows she has potential to be the best again and being attracted to the stunning woman doesn’t hurt either….
I loved this book, it ticked all my boxes and I really enjoyed this heartfelt romance that has the perfect mix of love, humour and drama. I swooned and I smiled as I was drawn in to Hasty and Ian’s journey, I was captivated from the first page and there was no putting down until I had read the final line. This book will appeal to a wide range of audiences and I highly recommend it.
I have enjoyed reading the first three books in this series and confess that I wasn’t sure about what we were going to get in Hasty, however, oh boy, it is a fabulous treat and one I loved from the first to the last page.
The wonderful sense of humor that is in every book this author writes is fully evident in Hasty too. For example when Hastings thinks this at Mallory’s bachelorette party… “There’s enough food dye in there to turn a roomful of kids with ADHD into nuclear reactors.” -a very apt description. Great banter between the characters, especially the girls, and the fun that was had in various scenes often led to loud laughter that literally bursts out as you read.
The lighthearted humorous side of the story balances the more serious elements. These are not just the obvious downfall of Hastings, as disastrous as that situation was, it is much deeper and on a personal level. One that evolves over time and as we get to know Hastings better-having always seen her as a self-centered person who only thought of her next deal, it was an interesting change of pace.
I have to say these characters are so much fun but also very intuitive and do give great advice and support, even when downing a few cocktails. There are some scenes where you just go “Awwww, how lovely!” because they make you feel all squishy inside… well you know what I mean. Roy and Sharon, Hastings, and Mallory’s parents are a blast and deserve a special mention. Ian is one fine, gorgeous man who really doesn’t need a lot said about him… one can just dream about him.
With a solid plot and some great descriptive vocabulary, fantastic characters, and a few twists this fast-paced story just zips by, and then… the series is over. It’s a bit sad really but exciting too to wonder what new series will be coming our way. I thoroughly enjoyed this very entertaining book and recommend it to everyone who likes to escape with a fun story.

“When I imagined you in handcuffs, it was never like that.”
After 6 years of hard work, Hastings finally signs the biggest deal of her carrier, only to be lead away in handcuffs, arrested and disgraced, in front of her arch nemesis, Ian McCrory.
Hasty is an anomaly in the do-over series. She isn’t the typical sweet-and-quirky heroine. No, she’s a self proclaimed ridiculously successful, snarky and direct, bitch.
But apparently, having your life turned upside down, loosing all your earthly possessions (except the cheese!) and having to crawl home with your tail between your legs after a knock out blow from your not-husband might be just the thing to change your view.
This book is fun, funny and fantastically entertaining, and a great conclusion to my personal favorite Julia Kent series.
5 stars and a wheel of 6-month-aged Manchego.
I’ll be honest, after reading the first three books in the do-over series, Hastings (Hasty) was the sister that I loved to hate. Mallory deserved a more understanding and lovable sister! But now, Hastings may just be my favorite lady in the bunch. I mean, I totally love them all, but Hastings is not what we thought she was in the prior books.
Hasty certainly had the more difficult path to trek out of the four stories, and she had the biggest journey to let her find a true happily ever after. This is in large part because she puts so much pressure on herself to achieve more and to be more and to be better. Hasty wanted to rule the world. When she fell back to earth, she was left back in her childhood home wondering how on earth she restarts and rebuilds from here.
When Ian, the last guy she expects to come waltzing through her door offering a chance of redemption does just that, she’s skeptical, and who can blame her?
From what we’ve seen in the past 3 books, we know Hasty would be complicated. But this is such a rewarding read. Hasty is smart, sassy, a little bit broken right now, but ready to rebuild herself with the support of a man that sees her for the amazing woman she is. No matter how hard she fights to not love Ian, it truly was inevitable. And this is all told to us through Julia Kent’s trademark humor with plenty of truly laugh-out-loud moments. This book is well-crafted, fun, full of heart, full of heat, full of all of the goodness that you expect from Julia Kent.
Hastings in nothing what I expected!!Lana~White Hot Reads
When you first read about Hastings in the other books, you immediately do not like her and thinks she’s a Bit**. After reading her story, you see why she is. She is smart women who ultimately gets taken for but good ole Ian is there to help her out. The love/hate dynamics between these two is smokin hot and the chemistry is off the charts. What a way to end this series.
This is the fourth book in the do-over series and Julia Kent never disappoints. Hasty has it rough for awhile but then things turn around. Omg I laughed hard when they are in the Icehouse. And the stuff you can find on the internet (bunny’s) so funny.
When Hastings Monaghan appeared in the other books in the Do-Over series, she really was an uptight, snob that was very hard to like. But Ms. Kent managed to turn that around and make Hasty into a strong, feisty woman who has taken control of her life and one that you really want to root for and to succeed. Hastings had just closed the biggest deal of her life when her life comes crashing down around her. And if being arrested, handcuffed in front of the cameras, investigated by the Feds for financial wrong doing, having all of her money and assets seized, discovering her husband (or was-band as she calls it) was a serial bigamist, moving back into her childhood bedroom with its twin bed weren’t enough, every time she turned around, HE was there. The wunderkind billionaire, her nemesis, Ian McCrory. The fact that he seemed to want Hastings and that he was drop dead gorgeous did not go unnoticed and if Hastings thoughts and dreams were anything to go by, she wanted Ian McCrory too!
The flip side of Hastings spectacular downfall is that she has time to reassess her life, her choices and the life she led, and realizes that she truly was a bitch, haughty, entitled and thoroughly unlikeable. But as she settles into her hometown, she feels the love of her family and the support of old school friends surround her and slowly the hard facade she falls away and Hasty becomes a much more self aware and approachable woman. But when the man who destroyed her trust comes back into her life and implicates those around her, Hasty fights back determined to be the instigator of her own happiness and destiny.
Loved this book and although it is a standalone, it is so much better when read in conjunction with the rest of the Do-Over series.
