I never thought my perp walk would lead to true love. Then again, I never thought I’d be arrested on RICO charges and hauled away in zip ties on camera for the world to see, minutes after closing the most amazing deal of my career. And all of it in front of my biggest rival, billionaire wunderkind Ian McCrory.I am broke.I am disgraced.I am alone.I am a sucker. But the worst part? I have to go back … am a sucker.
But the worst part? I have to go back to my hometown and live in my bedroom filled with relics from my childhood.
Lisa Frank never made me so mad before.
Just when I needed a rescue, I got one — in the form of help from my biggest rival.
He can’t bring back my money.
He certainly can’t bring back my reputation or my pride.
But there’s one thing he can bring back to me.
A sense of hope.
Maybe even love.
Ian sees something in me no one else does, and he’s relentless about making me see it, too. As we grow closer, I’m starting to see that while my entire life used to be a lie, the truth is staring me in the present — and it’s a truth I like very, very much, hot eyes and gorgeous smile and all.
But I have to be careful.
I can’t be too —
That’s right.
Hasty.
The final book in the USA Today bestselling Do-Over Series (Fluffy, Perky, Feisty), as Mallory’s sister, Hastings “Hasty” Monahan gets her turn at a happily ever after that starts off with an arrest.
Hers.
And ends with a surprisingly cheesy happily ever after.

I’m a HUGE fan of these books and it was hard to let these crazy girls go!! They are so entertaining and hilarious but they truly care about each other and support until the end. I wasn’t expecting to cry in one of these books but it happened with this one. My heart just broke for Hasty. Everything she worked for, destroyed in an instance. Her reputation shattered beyond belief and her pride as well. Her parents and sister mean well but don’t honestly know how to deal with all this. One person, however has been by her side and supported her without her knowing..Ian. Her rival and the one man she can’t stand. Watching her grow throughout this book was beyond amazing. She started out as a broken child but then got her self confidence back and things started to work in her favor. Sure everywhere she went, Ian showed up and annoyed her. These two have great banter and I love that it was a slow burn book. It wasn’t a inst attract kinda book. Hasty has a reputation of being not so kind and basically just telling she doesn’t like you. She’s a special kinda girl but throughout her journey, she learns that can do anything she wants and grows a heart. She realizes what is most important in her life and how to let love in her life. So many emotions were felt in this book and it was a great way to end this series!!
I guess I have a sweet spot for Hasty and her story didn’t disappoint.
Hastings “Hasty” Monahan would learn in a hard way how it felt like to lose everything and to hit rock bottom. From everything to nothing, this “villain” heroine who didn’t give a damn about people and not tongue-tied. I was so excited to read it because I could sense that she has an interesting story to share.
After the explosive ending, Hasty handcuffed and humiliated to the world, thanks to her con of a husband, she had to start all over.
As much as I appreciated the other books, this “Do-Over” was definitely my favorite.
After her arrest, she had to go back to her parents, in that small town she so wanted to escape. Let just say that she wasn’t very nice to people but still her family supported her. Her family antics made me smile so hard. Colorful and hilarious with no filter. Her life would have been easier if her biggest rival, Ian McRory wasn’t chasing her. Persistent and showing that she can find her way back, no matter her past or scandal. Making her feel a little too much and who could see right through her. Ian… swoon, swoon, swoon!!!
Watching Hasty raising from this scandal and taking her life over was worth the read. This was a character I loved to hate. I so appreciated that journey where she discovered herself and found her own way, opening-up to people but staying herself. Coming back to town straightened her bonds with her family but also with the community. For once, she could count on people who would watch her back and be supportive.
It was such a delightful read filled with laughter, a heroine who has finally found her way, a strong hint of sarcasm, crazy family and friends. Julia Kent has written a marvelous romantic comedy when you could find your perfect match in unexpected ways. The narrative was full of rhythm and detailing the ups and downs of Hasty’s journey, but mostly her happily ever after!
Hasty by Julia Kent made me stop and think about life. About friendship, family and true happiness. And that shows how much impact this story had on me. A entertaining and witty romance with a very important and life changing message about self love, Hasty was an absolute treat for my romantic heart.
Hastings aka Hasty always wanted to reach the top. Beyond her small town home. Beyond her seemingly less achieving sister. And she became the most recognisable powerhouse of finance world with her husband. Till he is exposed for one of biggest fraud in history of USA and she loses everything. Money. Social status. Reputation. Her identity. She comes back to her hometown and is trying so hard to find her place. Her once arch nemesis Ian is adamant to hire her and she doesn’t know if she should trust him. Why is Ian helping her? Will Hasty find a new life?
The minor and negligible issue I had with this story is it was entirely from Hasty’s POV. I was dying for some chapters from Ian’s POV! But, again, it’s understandable because this is essentially Hasty’s story. Everyone thinks she is a snobby, judgemental, overachiever, workaholic and bitter person. And that’s not entirely false. She pushed for success so hard that she ended up pushing away her near and dear ones. My heart breaks for her lost life, her frustration, the injustice and the overall degradation. But I am so proud of our girl! Did she bounce back or what? Julia Kent used humor and sarcasm to bring the deeper pain and loneliness alive. It was unique and effective. I may be laughing and smiling at the odd and awkward situations Hasty finds herself. But I could also feel the underlying personal struggle to build up a new Hasty. Of course we needed a white knight for her. But not the one who shields and rescues. But the one who challenges her and forces her out of her comfort zone to be better. To nurture, not control. To cherish, not destroy. To love, not pity. And Ian did exactly that with his charm, honesty, silent strength and sweetness with sinful sexiness. The chemistry was amazing. But again, this was essentially a journey of a broken and lost person to real happiness. And I bet so many of us will identify parts of ourselves in Hasty!
Julia Kent’s brilliant and sharp writing made Hasty a special kind of romance. Where we learn to love ourselves, accept our weaknesses and finally find true love. Hasty was funny, flirty and swoony. But the depth and intensity of emotions gave it that extra edge. To stand apart.
Received ARC for honest review
Ohhhhhh Hasty!!! Holy cow was this book more than I could have asked for!! Any time we saw Hasty in the past she was a total snob and b*tch (this reference throughout the book is absolutely hysterical by the way). Well, the new Hasty is totally different and oh man was it unexpected!!!! I think Hasty being who she was helped make this book slightly different than the other 3, and it’s well deserved. Hastings IS different than the other three girls, so her book being slightly different is super fitting. I have to say though, this may be one of my favorites yet! There were so many elements to this book and a few twists and turns that were NOT expected. It was such a good blend of everything!!! I think the other books were a geared a little bit more toward the comedic side of romance, and this book was a little more rounded out.
In this book we learned sooo much! We got to see a ton more of Hastings and Mallory’s parents, who are adorable and HYSTERICAL, and of course we got to see all of the girls. But even more, we got to see a completely 360 of who Hasty was when she was younger, what she had become married to the sleaze and who she evolved into. It was such an awesome process to witness (I almost wanted to say see, because I swear I was watching this play out in my head as I read it!). In reality, it was like the evolution of Hasty and what it took to make her the best she could be.
And oh man Ian, I cannot talk about this book without talking about Ian. And Eric, and cheese, and well everyone. The chemistry and slow burn between Ian and Hastings was soooo hot. I was constantly jonesing for more moments between these two, and mannn did Julia hold out good on us!!! From him popping up everywhere to his white knight complex, he was just the best. And I LOVED how Julia brought in some people from Hastings past, especially Eric. He ended up being such a significant secondary character (and I LOVE me some good secondary characters). We got to see some truly hysterical moments between these two. In fact, I think we need an entire novella of just the shenanigans of Eric and Hastings!
And we can’t forget the girls! Mallory, Perky & Fiona had really significant roles in this book. These two really helped Hastings put the pieces back together and in some really hysterical ways. These girls were so blunt with her, I had many laugh out loud moments because of it. The best part though, was how really took Hastings in. AND I LOVED the Taco, Taco, Taco and Beanerino moments!! Some of them were priclessssss!!!
I feel like I could go on and on… but I won’t. JUST GO READ IT, PLEASEEE!!
Fave of the series.
I would never have guessed that I would enjoy Hastings story the most out of everyone’s. There is so much more to her than we’ve seen previously and I absolutely adored Ian’s pursuit of her. Talk about perseverance.
Hastings was badly betrayed by her husband and she’s arrested right after closing an outstanding deal and all in front of her biggest rival – you guessed it, Ian. Hastings returns home after a month with her tail tucked between her legs “I’m pretty sure I have life lag, Dad.” and trying to start over in her childhood bedroom. She is so reluctant to accept anyone’s help, but an old friend and Ian’s persistence finally win her over.
All is not smooth sailing for these two, but this is such an endearing story (a word you wouldn’t think to associate with “Hasty” in previous books) and the epilogue is swoon-worthy.
I voluntarily requested and read an uncorrected advance reader copy.
I have been waiting for this for what seems like forever!! But good things come to those who wait!! Oh my!! It was a non stop, laugh out loud, sweet and sexy read! Hasty was the 4th book in Julia’s Do-Over series. It can be read as a stand-alone but you will be missing out on lots of laughs if you don’t check out the others!!
Hastings (Hasty) was on top of the world, she had just made the biggest deal of her career. Unfortunately, that high was short lived when she was taken away in handcuffs for a crime she didn’t commit. Ending up with nothing, she had no choice but to move back home into her childhood bedroom. Talk about mental whiplash!
Ian had watched Hastings from afar. When she needed help, he didn’t hesitate to step in, but at what costs? Would he ever be able to get past the icy exterior life had created for her? Would being at an all time low make her walls higher or start knocking them down?
Seriously, I laughed so many times! I was in tears over “chicken cheese”. I won’t give anything away, but I had to stop reading for a minute to gather myself!! I was not a fan of Hasty during the previous books but she certainly redeemed herself! I think this was my favorite book of the series!! Not only was it swoonworthy but it had a great message – even if you are knocked down, don’t be afraid to get up, dust yourself off, and make a new life!!
Cute
Hastings had it all, great job, lots of money, successful husband. Until her con husband took it all.
With family and friends she realizes what is really important.
Great end to a wonderful series.
The fourth book in the do-over series. This time up was Hastings Monahan aka Hasty. We heard about her in the other books and probably didn’t like her, I know I didn’t. She was riding high on her horse until they slapped on the handcuffs and then the real story starts.Burke was a crap human being but Ian you just have to love Ian. Julia way to turn the tables on a character
But the end I was rooting for her and Ian too.
This one was good to finish this series. I loved how its a bit different. I look forward to reading more from Julia. And as always Erin Mallon did an amazing job.
GOOD CHARACYERS
Ahhh!! Let me just say I love this series! This group of characters is truly unlike any other! I highly recommend this rom-com to anyone looking for a hilarious read! It’s to Die-for! Hasty is the fourth book in the standalone series “Do-Over”. I was completely surprised by how much I came to love Hastings, I have been with these characters and from the beginning, and Hasty has been labeled the “Grade A Biotch”. So I knew going in her story was going to be interesting and I really couldn’t have loved it more! Hasty was laugh-out-loud funny! I finished this book in one sitting because it was soooo consuming. The worst possible thing every is happening to Hastings and she is having to start her life from scratch because she has been living through a lie. Gosh this book was so good! Poor thing, I felt for her so much and found myself choked up multiple times. Throughout this book, Mallory’s wedding is happening, and I loved getting those special pieces of the other characters from the previous books. Ian was so very unexpected, he was too perfect, gosh he really makes you swoon so hard! This book is the Ultimate slow-burn! But it’s so very worth it! Kent is such a great author I love the relationships she creates. I can’t wait to see what she has for us next! I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 stars!
AUDIOBOOK
Hasty is the 4th book in Julia Kent’s Do-Over Series. This started off strong. I found myself addicted to the story immediately and I couldn’t stop listening.
Hastings “Hasty” Monaghan is the sister of Mallory Monaghan (whom we met in Fluffy) she believed herself to be off doing better things than being stuck in their small hometown. She has a successful career and a husband she loves. Until it is all ripped away and she is knocked right off her pedestal of social status. She does not have one cent to rub together and finds herself in handcuffs and her husband exposed in one of the biggest fraud schemes in US history.
Ian McRory has loved Hasty from afar. He is very successful in the financial world and he was a witness to Hasty being taken away in handcuffs. He posts her bail and doesn’t back down on making sure she knows he is there for her.
To classify this as a romance novel is a stretch. The hero is introduced immediately but he appears in about 20% of the story. She spent almost all of that time pushing him away. The book is heavily focused on Hasty and her self growth after the huge hit she took when she discovered her husband was the leader of a huge financial scandal.
As always a stellar performance by Erin Mallon! Her voice exudes passion and emotion the entire time she narrates.
Love the series. Julia Kent does not disappoint. A must read.
How can you not root for this heroine?
This laugh-out-loud enemies to lovers romcom was exactly what I needed in my life! Julia Kent never disappoints.

Redemption
This series was an adventure in fun and laughs. It is the kind you will read over and again.
Hasty is the icing on the cake! (Or cheese if you like. 🙂 ) You go from not liking her in a first place e loving her in this. Ian is her perfect match. I loved all the tho about this book, except for he who will not be named. Lol
So this book first of all made me really hungry for cheese. Manchego cheese, a type I hadn’t tried, to be specific. As a huge fan of cheese, I mean my whole family makes fun of me for it, I’m a little surprised I hadn’t tried it before. But I bought it the other day and plan to try it now!
Okay, more about the actual book and story. First of all, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to like Hasty, or Hastings as she prefers to be called. I mean she just wasn’t very nice in her sister Mallory or any of the other books in this series. But, Hasty definitely grows through the story, and I got to see just why she acted the way she did. Part of it was just her, but part of it had to do with her husband. And Ian, wow, you gotta love Ian! And when there was the twist at the end, the reason he had told her it wasn’t her, it was him, I actually don’t know why I didn’t see that coming! But I didn’t! So it was perfect.
As with the others in the series the side characters are so much what makes the story complete and so much extra! First Raul, you have to love Raul. And then there was the reference back to the urine perimeter from Feisty, which you should really read, I can’t explain it and give it the justice it deserves. Not to mention the cow birthing scene in this one.
A perfect book to wrap-up this series, and a wonderful series that introduced me to a new favorite author that I’m now catching up on all her books I’d missed!
This book is the perfect blend of salty and sweet and is exactly what my Covid brain needed. It was so much fun to watch Hasty grow emotionally and become a real person. Who knew calf birthing and cheese making could be so much fun.
