From the author of the #1 New York Times bestsellers Small Great Things and My Sister’s Keeper, a novel exploring the story of a young woman overcome by the demands of having a family.Paige has only a few vivid memories of her mother, who abandoned her at five years old. Now, having left her father behind in Chicago for dreams of art school and marriage to an ambitious young doctor, she finds … marriage to an ambitious young doctor, she finds herself with a child of her own. But her mother’s absence and shameful memories of her past force her to doubt whether she could ever be capable of bringing joy and meaning into the life of her child, gifts her own mother never gave.
Harvesting the Heart is written with astonishing clarity and evocative detail, convincing in its depiction of emotional pain, love, and vulnerability, and recalls the writing of Alice Hoffman and Kristin Hannah. Out of Paige’s struggle to find wholeness, Jodi Picoult crafts an absorbing novel peopled by richly drawn characters, and explores motherhood with a power and depth only she is capable of.
“A brilliant, moving examination of motherhood, brimming with detail and emotion.” —Richmond Times-Dispatch
“Jodi Picoult explores the fragile ground of ambivalent motherhood in her lush second novel. This story belongs to… the lucky reader.” —The New York Times Book Review

Very thought provoking
Just a great story about life!
There is a reason why Picoult is a best selling author. She never writes the same book with just different scenery. She tackles real every day always occurring problems and makes us look at them from different view points than those in the media. Real life stuff.
This book had it all funny sad entertaining, it was very relate able to me at certain points of the book it really pulled at my heart stings I was able to feel for both characters. Great read!
I enjoy All of Jodi Piccoult’s books!
I have yet to be in awe with a Picoult book….Really great read.
I love Jodi and have read all her books
The author has once again wiven a story around Complicated family relationships.
Wasn’t like other Jodi Picoult books I read. Was actually looking for something like Leaving Time and the story about the Amish and it didn’t meet my expectations.
Not as good as her later books.
I loved this book and she is one of my favorite authors.
Very good book. Her characters are always incredible.
Thought provoking and kept my interest
I did enjoy reading it but as I Don’t have hours of reading time it took some time to finish. At times I lost the theme of sorts because I hasn’t read daily
Then too, one of the main characters was all over the place emotionally. The more I kept up with the characters the better I could see where they might be going. I was very interested in the relationships and how things developed between them.
In short, I was glad that efforts were being made among the characters to really understand each other. The older set of parents in the story seemed to have a lot together and added to the rather “happy ending” – almost. It was good to leave the readers to creatively do an ending of their own. I have read others by Picoult and found this one a bit more involved than others.
A true Jodi Picoult book. As usual, I learned a lot, and the characters were very real and the story line was interesting.
Thoroughly enjoy Jodi Piccoult
I usually love her books. This one just didnt thrill me
Another Jodi Picoult book that I had to read. It was not her best ever but still a good one
This was predictable and the ending was a cop out.
Another great book by Jodi Picoult. I love how she takes a subject and takes the reader through all sides of it.
