“Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter ‘H’.”
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his … confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry’s eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Book is great! Author is unfortunately less than great.
Top notch entertainment. The book that started it all and left everyone transformed for the better.
*I read “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”.
Harry Potter isn’t an ordinary orphan – he is a wizard. Finding out his true origins on his eleventh birthday, Harry is then sent off to Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn how to use the magic he was born with.

I was first introduced to Harry Potter by a friend’s son. He was in Boy Scouts and to earn one of his badges he read to me. At first, I was reluctant. I wasn’t really interested in HP. The boy said “it has unicorns in it”. Well, as they say, it was on from there.

Amazing and very entertaining. I read the whole book in one day
This was an amazing series. Full of fun and adventure. My son and I read these together and would start our bedtime reading earlier as we got into the books so we could have more of this wonderful thing! I loved the books and the special time with my son.
I do not see what people saw in this book. The characters were unlikable
Not a fantasy/science fiction fan, but loved the whole series because I loved the realistically-drawn kids! I have taught each one of them!
A masterful example of writing, like Tolkien, but more accessible for children.
This might be my favorite series ever…
I love all the Harry Potter Series and recommend them to everyone even adults and Kids. This book is very thrilling and unpredictable.

If you haven’t read it, PLEASE READ IT NOW! Unless …
I loved The Sorcerer’s Stone. It was extremely exciting and I could not put the book down! The movie is pretty much exactly like the book. This did not bother me though. I love reading the story and forming my own thoughts on how characters and surroundings look.
