“Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter ‘H’.”
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his … confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry’s eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

I thought this book was amazing. The author did a very good job!
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone The book starts off introducing the wizarding world from the vantage point of the Dursley’s who we later find out are the Aunt and Uncle of Harry Potter, a boy who’s parents were murdered while he managed to survive. The attack on Harry’s parents left a signature lightning bolt scar on his forehead
It is amazing!!!! Such a good book such funny characters and such twists!! I have read all 9 books all amazing my FAV is GOBLET OF FIRE!!!!
Good series to help start reading more.
I absolutely adored this book! It’s a really good read if you like fantasy!
The whole HP Series is AMAZING! THE BEST THING EVER! (Sorry I can’t think right now-)
It’s a little bit of a slow start but such a wonderful story and worth it if you can get past the slow start.
it was good
I personally love this book
(3.5 / 5)
I have never read any Harry Potter books, nor have I watched any of the movies. The only thing I know about Harry Potter is what I’ve picked up over the years from references, movie clips, overheard discussions, etc. I am planning to go through the entire book series, and I have just finished the first one.
Though I didn’t mind the YA …
This story will never grow old. When I get annoyed at the junk that is in other books, I like coming back to these books. They are wonderful! (And clean. But they do have the Lords name in vain a few times in them though…) I don’t want to say too much because you have to read it. I can’t put it into my own words. I find myself laughing at quotes …
I think if you like fantasy you’ll like this book. It really sparked a new age of fantasy, what a great tale.
Who hasn’t read the Harry Potter series by now? If you are the one in a million who has not taken the time, just do it!
The book is just over all amazing
Hopefully there aren’t too many who have missed this or any of the books in the Harry Potter series, but this is definitely the book that started it all.
You are grabbed by Harry’s plight immediately as you are introduced to him living in the small space under the stairwell.
You start rooting for him as he gets his invitation to attend …
I loved this book!
This is really a great book. I love it
I thoroughly enjoyed Harry Poter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. It inspired me and I loved all the characters, that which were well -developed and fantastic world-building.
I never thought I would like HP but I have enjoyed it so far.
Alex wanted to watch all the HP movies and I wanted to finish the books before we started so alas here we are. I am really, really late to the party but I now understand what all the hype was about and I was not disappointed. Perhaps the ONLY pro to waiting so long to read* this is that I think I was able to appreciate it a lot more reading* it …
