“Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter ‘H’.”
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his … confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry’s eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Although I read this when it originally came out, I just found my copy and re-read it. It was just as good this time around! Amazing story. Highly recommend
I love rereading this book. This series is my entire childhood in book form. Harry Potter + a cup of tea + soft blanket = ultimate stress relief
This is a fantastic book, but it takes about 50 pages to catch you. If you can get past that, you’re golden! Very engaging book!
This is a beautiful introduction into the magical world of Harry Potter and the wizarding world. It is a book that has changed my life and one I will always hold very close to my heart.
This book was required reading for a children’s lit college class. One chapter in, I was hooked. This book, the whole series, changed my life. It’s my escape from life, and a true example of good overcoming evil. There is wisdom, honest examples of true friendship, and a reminder that love always prevails.
i kinda like it
This is my favourite book. I love the creativity put into this book and also the description. It is amazingly entertaining. I read it extremely fast, I recommend this book 100% and the rest of the harry potter series.
This book is more about our imagination and ideas
A suspenseful book, full of adventures.
I have only one thing to say and that is, THE START TO WONDERFUL SERIES!
My favorite book series of all time!
I love this whole series and have read it twice! I love it! It is funny and entertaining!
Definitely one of my favorites. This is the only series I have read twice. Great characters, brilliant story, and fun to read.
I can sum it up in four words — The Boy Who Lived.
good storyline
loved them all
I read this book because my young grandson (he is now 23) was reading books for book reports. Well, long story short, I decided that I would read this book the first of a series about a little boy that had lost his parents to a very bad wizard and ended up being a good against evil line of thought. I guess I figured that being a children’s book …
I could read this book over and over again. We have three complete sets of this series in my house so my children can take a set with them whenever they leave home (and I still get to keep mine).
This is one of my go to book. Whenever I’m feeling bored or just need an adventure I pick Harry Potter and let J.K. Rowling words transform into the wizarding world.
