“Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter ‘H’.”
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his … confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry’s eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

I loved it
I love this series and it is one of the few that I will re-read over and over again. I am in awe of people that can create entire worlds in their imagination.
Read this to my daughter many years ago, the story and characters got her on the fast track of reading for herself. Very entertaining..
Wonderful series for all ages
Loved every page.
I read it just before the first movies came out. It seemed rather young, but every time one comes on TV I watch it; I think I’ll go back and read it again.
Formulaic
This series was so addictive
Magical!
Here comes a book for all ages …Ready to fasten your seat belts for this extraordinary journey from muggle world to the WIZARDING WORLD via Hogwarts Express. .
Adored this book!!
The story is wonderful! With that said, I just cannot buy into Harry’s initial character development. He should be very psychologically different, given that he’s an orphan with an aunt, uncle, and cousin who have treated him horribly his entire life. Harry should be more psychologically scarred. Darker, for lack of a better term. A super fan …
I thought it was an amazing book! Although I wouldn’t recommend this book for 8 year olds.
I love all the Harry Potter books but the first one holds a special place in my heart. Just the excitement of meeting the characters and the newness of it all. Love it!
A review of such an iconic piece of literature is unneeded.
One of the first books that got me into teading as a child, this novel inspired a life time of love for the world of Harry Potter. While more recent instalments have been…questionable at best, the original 7 books are timeless classics that any age can enjoy!
It’s a good kid’s book. I loved it when I was younger. Now that I’m an adult I’m able to see various flaws and plotholes in the series (as well as a few editing mistakes), but I still believe it’s a good adventure for young kids to go on and continue the series as they grow.
When it comes to Harry Potter we are all kids again.
Brilliant series of books!!
I think that this book may be one of the most wonderful book you will ever read
But do not stop here, read the other books of the series <3 😉
one of the greatest novels of all time
You love Harry and feel sorry for him and grow with him as he goes to school and lands into trouble at every turn with his new friends.
