“Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter ‘H’.”
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his … confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry’s eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Yes, I’m a nerd…and so am re-reading the whole series. The story is delightful, and brain candy for a rainy (or any!) day. Highly recommended.
The whole series is excellent! Highly recommend. Great for all age groups.
Although the plot of the Philosopher’s Stone is quite preposterous in places and not altogether consistent (Why drop blindly into a black hole when you have the magical skill to generate light?), it does captivate the reader. Unexpected twists and high tension toward the end make it hard to put it down.
Underlying it all is a good-versus-evil …
I love the whole series. I have read all of them and half of them twice because I read them to my son.
Wish it was free

It was amazing,even though I haven’t read it for I don’t know 3 years!
Awesome. 😀
Super classic
I think J.K. Rowling is a talented author with lots of potential and a young mind as an author. She puts her emotions and thoughts right out there with Ron, Harry, and Hermione. I love this book because it’s so unpredictable and you’ll never know what will happen next. I love books like this!
When I first read this book, only the first two Harry Potter books had been published. I read about it in Time magazine and went to the local bookstore and purchased it. After the first couple of chapters I was totally hooked. Every book in the series is a wonder to experience, but this is the one that started it all.
This marvelous work of JK Rowling has hauled me into the prodigious world of books! And now I don’t regret my verdict of reading this book.
