The Eighth Story. Nineteen Years Later. Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30, 2016. It was always …
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
This Special Rehearsal Edition will be available to purchase until early 2017, after which a Definitive Edition of the script will go on sale.

I loved this book and I also loved how this book gave the end of the series a little “Dystopian” vibe.
Since this was a screenplay it just left me wanting more. Disappointed in the adult Harry and Hermione. I guess I expected more than the typical parent but that is what becoming a parent does to you I guess.
It wasn’t as good as the rest of the Harry Potter series, but I did enjoy it.
It’s amazing, I can’t really remember every detail about it as I read it a year ago but I would definitely recommend this book.
WORST BOOK EVER. This book completely ignores the whole character arc Harry goes through in the book. Harry finds that Scorpio and Albus are friends and he completely rags on Scorpio for just being Draco’s son. What I see for Harry is him accepting his child for who he is (because he dislikes that Albus is in Slytherin wich totally goes against Harry’s character) and warn him about the past. He totally makes all the mistakes he makes in the original series is made again (ex. not talking/ letting his friends help). Also he would NEVER rag on Mcgonagall! Also Mcgonagall would never disrespect Harry’s wishes she would outright tell him he was wrong and do what she wants. Also STUPID PLOT. Never would any of this happen because these children are 11 act 11! Please just throw this book in the TRASH!
Not as good as the original Harry Potters. I liked the story but not the way Harry was Portrayed.
It’s Potter. Years after the original books. Without any spoilers to the plot, it is a fun read. Nothing too deep but at the same time touches on the human condition which is always a plus for me when reading. The ability to relate is vital, and you can with certain aspects of the characters. The format has thrown a lot of readers because it originated as a stage play and kept that format in the publication. I found that quite enjoyable and a much faster read than I anticipated it to be. The story is solid and easy to follow. Knowing the world and back story helps. If anyone is new to the wizarding world that is HP, I would not start here. But, if like most fans, you are versed enough to know the basics of canon, then this is a good book in that world.
My daughter checked this out of the library while she was visiting, so I decided to read it before I returned it. I asked her what is it about and her response was “it is about their kids”. Immediately my mind went to Doc Brown in Back to the Future II- “It’s your kids, Marty. Something’s gotta be done about your kids!”. And my mind wasn’t too far off.
Harry and Ginny have three children, James, named after Harry’s father, Albus, named after Dumbledore and Lily after Harry’s mother. On the train on his first trip to Hogwarts, Albus see a boy all alone and befriends him, but Rose Weasley will have nothing to do with him, because he is Draco Malfoy’s son Scorpius Malfoy and there are rumors that he is really the some of Voldemort. The Sorting Hat then puts Albus in Slytherin. Life does not go well for either of the boys and their relationships with their fathers also sours, until they get their hands on a Time-Turner and attempt to go back in time to safe Cedric Diggory. And just like in Back to the Future, things do not go well.
Harry Potter fans will want to read this, but I personally prefer a novel than a script.
A stage play featuring some of the original cast of the Harry Potter books with Harry’s son and Draco’s son messing with time and seeing the various outcomes of the lives of the grown-ups they know.
Okay, it’s a fun afternoon read. You get to fill in most of the details of what someone is wearing, what they’re doing and even how they look – fun, if you enjoy reading plays. You have to be familiar with Harry’s world and story for this book to make any sense.
I know a lot of people had a problem with this story set nineteen years (and more) after the Harry Potter series ended, but you cannot expect a play to compare to a novel. There’s a lot of action, character growth, what if’s answered (and more asked), and intrigue. Yes, as a novel it would’ve been better and wouldn’t have needed a re-read in order to understand some of it.
Still, it’s good. But only read if you’re a fan of Harry Potter.
Loved all the Harry Potter books! Read several times!
I’ll read anything Harry Potter. I loved this one — quite different and original.
A must-read for Harry Potter fans.
I love this book. I read it over 200 times. Can never get enough.
I didn’t like how it strayed from the original series but over all it we made pretty good minus some of the quirks I was a little disappointed when so much of the boys Hogwarts years where skipped
it was cool i liked it i read all the book from book 1 to book 2
amazing
A thoughtful and intriguing continuation of the Harry Potter saga
Very disappointed in this book. The characters didn’t even remotely resemble their previous selves. Had a hard time even believing that JK Rowling was the author. Nothing like the Harry Potter series style of writing.
It did not seem to go with the end of harry potter and the deathly hallows when it says “all was well” and I like time turners and all but I think they were just used as an easy solution.
It is a great book. I can never put it down, It’s characters are very kind, helpful, and inspirational. Every chapter I finish I am tempted to read the next. I has a great twist which makes it even better. It is very original and the magical world is awesome! I don’t know what book could be better than this one and the rest in the series.
