The Eighth Story. Nineteen Years Later. Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30, 2016. It was always …
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
This Special Rehearsal Edition will be available to purchase until early 2017, after which a Definitive Edition of the script will go on sale.

I was dissappointed in this compared to her other novels, but then again it is a play script, not a novel… And that’s where it fell short for me. I love this author, it’s too bad she’s moving onto other things. Her novels will be forever cherished in a way no other has yet to create.
It is it nearly as good as the original series, but good as some fanfic. And it was in play form, so that made it a little weird
this book was written as a play and the characters are not how J.K. Rowling would have ever let them end up.
SPOILER ALERT*** Harry potter would never tell his son that he never wished that he wasn’t born at all, and based on the end of the TRUE final Harry Potter Book, his son would never have ended up in Slytherin. This book sounds too much like an attempt at fan fiction to be taken seriously as a potter head don’t waste your time.
I loved it so much! I wish the series were even longer!
I had been expecting more than the book gave, but I did enjoy the characters.
A perfect way to add yet another great book to the Harry Potter series. J.K Rowling magically adds the same feeling you get when you read the others, but set in the future, with an unexpected twist. All the original characters are grownup, but not exactly how you expected them to turn out. It is another great Harry Potter book!! A have-to read!!
I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan, so I have to give this at least a majority vote. But, this was written like a fanfiction and was certainly not by JK Rowling!
It was written as if it were a poorly written fanfiction
This play pretty good and it’s definitely entertaining. However, I felt it kind of strayed away from how the characters had always been portrayed in the actual Harry Potter novels. It felt like fan fiction assembled into a play format. I read it all in one sitting, so obviously it’s not bad, but I STRONGLY prefer the actual books to Cursed Child.
Own all the Harry Potter books . love them and this one too.
I recommend this book to die-hard Harry Potter lovers, but it will be disappointing to those who are holding this tale up to the caliber and sophistication of J. K. Rowling’s writing. I will update my review when I read it a second time.
I LOVED the Harry Potter novels. This one is okay, but it’s very different in tone and writing (it is a play).
It was so wonderful getting to catch up with all of my favorite characters and get to meet some new ones. This book is a must read for all Potter fans. I absolutely loved it.
Cool i think it is a little weird that voldemort has a daughter though but it’s awesome
I want to see this play so bad! Honestly though, read it in the mindframe that it is a script for a play… people who think this is going to be the 8th Harry Potter will be sadly mistaken. Great story with wonderful twists and lessons.
I picked up Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with both excitement and trepidation. It had some really big shoes to fill! Cursed Child follows Harry Potter, who is now a middle-age Ministry of Magic employee with three children, and his youngest son, Albus, who is off to Hogwarts for the first time and gasp—gets sorted into Slytherin. Although written as a play, I found myself easily settling into the novel and getting lost in Rowling’s magical world. Albus and his best friend, Scorpius Malfoy, were awesome, particularly Scorpius who was laugh out loud funny at times. And I loved seeing Harry, Hermione, and Ron as married adults. The story plays plenty of homage to its predecessors while still giving fans something fun and new.
Read it, liked it, enjoyed it. It was entertaining, it was great to see all these characters back, but it isn’t the eighth book of the Harry Potter series, it is just a story that is based on the Harry Potter series. Yes, I agree with the others, it is a fanfic.
