When her secrets come back to haunt her, she’s forced to confront the darkness she fought so hard to leave behind. With her life hanging in the … life hanging in the balance, will Leigh become the villain, the hero . . . or the Volatile Vixen lurking inside?
Obsessed with female villains, the Volatile Vixens explore their dark and twisted personas, dangerous lives, and sensual hunger in a world where reality mixes with fantasy with disastrous – and often humorous – results.

Leigh has idolized the character of Harley Quinn, even to the point of dying her hair like her and using her as motivation to learn to take care of herself after an attempted mugging left her on edge. One night, when Leigh is preparing for what she hopes is just a night out with her girlfriend to celebrate her birthday, she meets a devastatingly gorgeous man who seems hell bent on shadowing her, protecting her, and showing up in her life afterward. How does he know so much about her? Everything about Leigh’s life is about to change when the truth is revealed.
This book was smoking hot and so engaging that you’ll have to stop yourself from flipping to the end to find out what happens, but don’t do it, the journey is worth the suspense! Excellent romance with a sizzle on every page!
I received this book from Ms. Landis via Booksprout, and this is my honest review. This is first book of Ms.Landis that I have read. Harleigh fancies herself a version of Harley Quinn but not as psychotic and still looking for her Joker. As she turns 25, Harleigh goes out with her girlfriend Ivy as well as her brother Dev and his friend Derek. The attraction between Harleigh and Derek is instantaneous and explosive. As Harleigh finds out that her life and upbringing is not what she had thought, she is forced to face her demons as well as try and find out what happened to her and what this means. As Derek tries to keep Harleigh safe and in his arms, Harleigh is lured away and comes face-to-face with Viktor. Viktor and Harleigh have an instant attraction. As Harleigh battles her dark vs light side with Viktor and Derek, will she become who she is meant to be? Will she choose one over the other? Will she choose neither and go her own way?
I found Harleigh is a dark and exciting read. Harleigh is completely different than DC’s Harley Quinn. Ms. Landis draws us in to a world where even though Harleigh is obsessed with Harley Quinn, she also lives her life in the real world. She has a balance between reality and fantasy. The characters are extremely well-written and balance each other out. The plot is engrossing and left me begging for more. The sexual chemistry between Harleigh, Derek, and Viktor was steamy and kept me guessing who she would choose. I love how all of the characters played a role what complimented not only each other, but the story as well. This is the first book in the Volatile Vixens. Due to sexually charged scenes, I highly recommend this to those 18+ who love a little crazy, sexy, and danger all mixed in with family and friends. Thank you Ms. Landis and Booksprout for allowing me to read your book. I look forward to reading more of your work.

This was a wild story. It was a little hard to get into it at the beginning. The storyline took a while-for me- to develope. It went in too many different directions and I had to put down and walk away and then come back to get into the story line. The characters were great. I loved Harleigh and Derek. Dev was a little overbearing- but that is brothers. Honestly this book needs to be read completely in order to decide if you like or hate it. It took me a while but in the end I did like this story and will be waiting for future stories from this author.

I was looking forward to a twisted, a bit maniacal with a dose of crazy sex appeal story in keeping with the characters namesake; unfortunately for me this story was a miss.
It took a minute to catch on that Harleigh was narrating at times and as they say breaking the fourth wall and speaking directly to the reader. In a crazy way it sort of worked. In the beginning getting to know about Harleigh was pretty cool but once she met Derek it seemed all of her toughness seemed to melt like cotton candy in water. I get that instant physical attraction and how it can get you totally turned on. When she admitted that she was attracted to Derek I expected her character to address us and say “Yes that’s right I’m a horny woman, and I intend to ride him all night, because I own my freaking desires.” Instead the author has Harleigh call herself a whore. That was an immediate slap and took me right out of the moment. Why do authors do that if a woman feels sexual desire she either refers to herself as a whore or a slut? We are not allowed to have desires and to express pleasure in them we are to call ourselves derogatory names?
Once Harleigh and Derek get together I’m sorry but the descriptors the author used for their first time having sex had me laughing her “little pearl glistening”, throw in the over done he’s touching me deep in way’s I’ve never been touched before. Its like a whole bunch of the most overused sex phrases came together for their sex scene.
Of course on her 25th birthday she discovers a secret that will change her entire life. Once this discovery is made it’s like the book became one of those superhero television shows where there is a lot of unnecessary action to something that if they had communicated could have been avoided.
Then we meet the bad guy Viktor who both repels and attracts Harleigh. We now start the tug of war for the possession of Harleigh between Derek and Viktor using her sexual desires against her. There is also a trigger alert for an attempted assault.
The characters are all pretty wooden and you don’t really connect with any of them or at least I didn’t. You get little excerpts of them but nothing to really flesh them out or for that matter the plot.
Harleigh had the potential to be a real dominant take charge kind of badazz instead we got a watered down version of Harleigh who’s merely treated like a possession by two men with another waiting for his turn in the wings.

Harleigh was an outstanding read! The main character Leigh is bold, strong, and my favorate sarcastically funny. This book was intense from start to finish, from the action to the extremely exciting sexual encounters. Most of this book is twisted, dark, and fabulously gritty but around every corner is a shred of light.
When Leigh turns 25 everything changes. Almost like reading a comic.
Nikki Landis did an awesome job on this book, and it just shows how versatile her writing is. I ran across a few minor typos but nothing that distracted me from the story.
