The tattooed demoness, Bone, doesn’t like anything except the magical weapons she makes. But she has hidden talents few know about. When I was brought to her near death, she used her Seraph song to manipulate flesh and bone to heal me. But she wasn’t happy about it. Now I must return the favor. Even though she refuses to take sides in the apocalypse, there’s one job she’s not willing to do for … to do for the demon prince Rook. If she doesn’t, her head will end up on a spike. Of course, there’s a good chance we’re all going to die anyway, but I will do anything to protect this fierce woman–and not just because she saved me.
So, we’re both off to kill a demon–or three–and possibly save the world.

Well, that was one hell of a ride, lol.
This time we hear from Bone and Xander; we hear from Bone in the previous book and I just knew she would be a kickass character. And boy does she deliver.
Not sure how to start with this one, it was simply put, awesome. There was action, love, intrigue and swoony moments here and there. If you’ve read the previous books, you know what this is about, but still each boo adds something different in this world of demons and angels.
I loved these two, particularly Bone. Such an awesome character and I loved how she showed a softer side here, and that side didn’t diminish her kickass-ness.
Can’t talk much about the plot, as I don’t want to give it away, just say that it was a fun read, with lots of action and Ms. Cross’ good job on details (but not too many, as it to nor bore you) and world creating.
I loved this one as much as I loved the previous book and SO looking forward to a new one in the series. Uriel!
*Thank you to the author for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*
What a follow up to the first story in this terrific new series by a fabulous author. Dommiel was so dominant I really didn’t pay much attention to the other supernatural studs in the first story. How did I miss the beautiful Xander? But the real star of this story is the mysterious Bone. I wish she had been featured on the cover. She’s a beauty that Xander wants to make his own but she not an easy catch. She’s something different that’s fallen from Heaven with special talents that the demon prince, Rook wants for his own use. But he has to go through Xander and the rest of the good guys and gals. As the war between Heaven and Hell escalates this author gives us another fantastic battle with casualties and triumphs. I loved the hate/like relationship between Dom/Blackheart and Xander/Goldilocks. A little levity amidst all the danger and fighting. I love this series, the superb writing and the spectacular characters. I look forward to the new installment. This author gives us something different and absolutely delicious in a crowded paranormal genre. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Hardest Fall is the second book to Juliette Cross’s Dominion series. I read the first book last year, but need to make time to type up my review for it finally. My 9-5 job at the time was at full-swing with different projects preventing me from typing up my review. I enjoyed the book, so I need to find time to type up my review finally. I may end up re-reading the book, especially after getting my fix of Anya and Dommiel in the second book. I love it when previous characters show up in other books.
Although, now I have my favorite characters in the series after reading this book because I got to dig deeper into Xander and Bone after reading Hardest Fall. Both characters have dark pasts, and they have consistently been reliving those dark pasts. Xander ends up on death’s door at the beginning of the book and Bone ends up saving him. She has to when he’s brought to her table. Now, Xander is transfixed to Bone and wants more of her, especially with what side Bone is on in the fight between good and evil. Unfortunately, Bone doesn’t want anything to do with the demon hunter. Bone is a demoness, and she forges weapons for both the demon hunters and demons, but she chooses to stay neutral. Although, now she has the demon princes at her door to forge a weapon that could change everything and she is hesitant to do it, especially since she had a relationship with one of them. She knows they are up against something and now she may need to choose sides.
No more going into the story though because I don’t want to give anything away. What are the things I enjoyed about the book? I loved how Juliette dived into both characters pasts and how we found out how Bone became fallen and how Xander became a demon hunter. Readers will also find out something even darker about Xander. He’s come along way though. There are also some very dark twisted moments between Bone and the evil Demon Prince Rook, who she had a relationship with and I couldn’t stand in the story. He was sick and twisted, and his brother was very sick and twisted too. Ugh! I’m so glad Bone ended up with Xander in the story. They were meant for each other. There were some very steamy moments between the two characters. I loved these together. The ending was very twisted at moments, and I had a feeling, what Rook was up to with his weapon.
One of the many reasons why I decided to read the Dominion series was I love books that have Fallen Angel/Demon characters. They have been some of my favorites to read in the Paranormal Romance genre. I also was intrigued by the synopsis by the books. The Dominion series happened to be the first books I happened to read by Juliette Cross. I’m going to fix that by picking up her other books too to read.

The moment I laid eyes on the Hardest Fall, my fate was sealed. I was going to devour this book and never look back.
Bone is a character from the first book Darkest Heart. All you really know is she’s always alone, creating weapons for either side. Because she didn’t choose a side, that was her thing, no one was going to tell her what to do and that’s it. That of course, is until Xander practically lands in her lap aka table.
There’s so much about this story that’s brilliant. It captivated me from the start. The raw, gritty details of the apocalypse. But even in that, way deep down there was the hope, love, and light that they all needed. I don’t want to go into too much detail about Bone. It’s a heartbreaking one that I think she should tell you herself. And Xander, oh boy, hello? This guy is a Demon Hunter that’s sexy as H*ll. This story practically had everything you would want.
There’s that vulnerability that these two share. That tear down the walls that they’ve built. To protect themselves. I mean it is an apocalypse, who can you trust? I connected to both characters, and I laughed with them, I teared up as they spoke of their past and cheered as they fought the darkness that threatened to swallow them whole.
The vision that Cross has for this series, I’m on for this ride. It’s a captivating series that will have entranced till the end.
Overall, Five Boundless Stars.
