No one can make my blood pressure soar faster than Dr. Jameson – he is such a conceited a$$. Now I’m fighting for my life, with him as my partner,in the damn south American jungle.I should have stayed locked up in the compound my parents wanted to keep me prisoner in… he knows how to keep us alive,
But daaamn, it’s getting harder and harder to ignore his…
Eyes.
Then he finds out about my “abilities”, my secret powers.
The reason we’re being hunted by Oculus in the first place.
He’s doing everything to keep me safe,
But he doesn’t understand who’s after us.
The smartest thing I can do is take off on my own – he might be an ass, but I don’t want him dead because of me.
But it turns out that he has special “powers” too.
Looks like I’m not the only one who’s being hunted…

I found this hard to stay attached too even though I found the story line intriguing.
I feel like I should of read another one before it though as I kept feeling like I was missing something even with the small flashbacks.
Well written as it did make it easy to read.

Highly entertaining, action packed, engaging adventure filled with danger, excitement, secrets, magic and undeniable passion….. loved every heart pounding twist and turn that made this emotional journey completely worth the ride. Looking forward to the next story in this series.
Different than what I am used to but I enjoyed it all the same. The characters, story line and plot were interesting. I don’t usually enjoy mixing genres when it comes to reading but this was sort of a sci-fi romance and I couldn’t put it down. I don’t like the ending though…it felt a little unfinished.

>Book review – Harder Than Stone
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st book in the Harder series and ends without a true HEA, just a pause. Audrey and Jameson are psychologists that have very different viewpoints. They both end up working for a mysterious man in Nicaragua. Both characters seem way too smart to fall for the weird job in Nicaragua. There is a dangerous group called Oculus that ends up chasing the couple.
> The plot line is flimsy. Black holes in memories and secret CIA agents are plot cheaters. The romance is too fast. Audrey and Jameson go from enemies to lovers, only due to the shared danger they are in, not really due to any chemistry between them
> This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. The plot would have been much better if more care was taken in setting everything up.
Audrey’s family have been hiding from Oculus for a long time but she decides to forge her own path and because of her abilities forges a good career for herself. Jameson is in the same field as her but the two could not have more opposing views on life and the psyche. When the two are forced together the sparks fly, in more ways than one, and despite their different viewpoints neither can deny the attraction that flares between the two. The romance and the suspense are perfectly balanced, the plot flows well, the characters have depth and vibrancy and the book is a joy to read.

Audrey’s family has been altered by Occulus in experiments and for three generations has acquired special powers. They have escaped and been hiding out in a safe compound trying to take Occulus down. Audrey has ventured out into the world and has become a neuropsychologist and travels giving talks while secretly working for the CIA to find Occulus.
Jameson is a psychologist who has very different views than Audrey. He is often on the same circuits and conventions as she is and while he thinks she is very beautiful, he thinks she is totally wrong in her medical opinion.
When these two end up in Nicaragua together the sparks fly! It gets hot and steamy! They find out they agree on more than they thought they did! When they end up in the jungle running for their lives, you are left trying to figure out who sent them there, who betrayed them and exactly who is after who? Jameson has a few tricks up his sleeves that he didn’t even know about!
I didn’t realize there was another book before this one until I saw some of the other reviews, which explains some of the things that perplexed me. Like the whiskey taste Jameson got and just the general feeling that there was a bit more to the story. I will probably read the other book to get more back story, but this book was good as a stand alone. It leaves you with a HEA for now, but you feel like there will be more. I really enjoyed this Romance/Sci -Fi Thriller!
I received this book via Booksprout and have left an honest review.
A fast paced story with Sci-FI elements. A hunt of two people with special abilities, even if only one of them are aware of that.
I was intrigued of this story. This is my first meeting with the Conway family, but I need to read the earlier books. This one was that good.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is not your typical romance book. The story is original. Although it is first in the series, there were times I felt I was missing information that would have helped certain parts of the story make more sense. **SPOILER** We never learn what her other “powers” are and the ending was something of a let-down for me. It is an action-packed and steamy tale.

Harder Than Stone by Jacey Ward
Audrey has spent her life on a compound with her family because she was special and there were people out in the world that would harm them. She ends up getting out but Oculus is searching for her. She is offered a job in the jungle working at a children hospital but she is surprised when another doctor shows up two weeks later. Wow, what a story. I was hooked from the beginning and had a hard time putting this book down. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants an action-packed, steamy and oh so interesting story. This story was given to me by booksprout. I am leaving this review freely. I enjoyed this read very much. It has an easy to follow story line and unusual pairing that was great. I hope there is more to the story of the rest of the family. Hope to enjoy more. Come and check it out.
Had me at the edge of my seat!
This fast-paced paranormal thriller left me wanting more.
Audrey is one of the most fascinating characters that I’ve ever encountered. She’s a Psychologist who works for the CIA, but it’s her powers that left me in awe. She can read minds, which can easily be viewed as an invasion of privacy and annoying as heck, but I found it utterly cool. Jameson is a Psychologist as well, but he’s more of a naysayer when it comes to Audrey’s methods. He comes across as stoic and skeptical and when they both get an offer to work at a startup hospital in Nicaragua, things get a lot steamier than they bargained for.
It wasn’t exactly clear to me who Oculus was and that stirred my curiosity. Her family had been hiding from them for years, and Audrey had been hunting them down for just as long. She was determined to expose this seemingly powerful organization and put an end to its existence.
Jameson had seen combat and was oblivious to a lot of things about himself until the healing incident. He’d been clueless and was as surprised as I was when he found out that he too was a product of Oculus.
Going back home was perhaps the most difficult thing that Audrey had ever do but with her family and Jameson by her side, I couldn’t help but feel that this was the beginning of the end for Oculus.
Amazing story. Looking forward to reading the next book.

Book one in the harder series a story that held my interest until the end. This is Audrey McMahon a Neuropsychiatrist and Dr. Jameson Landry a psychiatrist’s story and the evil Oculus group that hunt them. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I liked how strong and intelligent Audrey was. I also liked that there were differences between Audrey and Jameson but he was finally able to stop being so judgmental of Audrey. I am interested to find out what happens next with Oculus and the whole family.

ONE THRILLING EXPERIENCE!!!
Wow! Talk about mind blowing. This is one thrilling, nailbitng, action packed, hard hitting, nerve racking, page turning, explosive wonder that makes for one rollercoaster ride. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, unexpected surprises and the tribulations the characters go through bring this read roaring to life brilliantly. You have all the drama, lies, deceit, danger and suspense riding high as tension soars. The characters are complex, believable and so realistic their personalities blend with traits that play off one another perfectly. The scenes are graphic and detailed it really pulls this bombshell together beautifully. Remarkable job Chloe and Jacey, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Our heroine is working in secret to take on the organization her entire family is hiding from. The only thing worse than pissing off her allies? Getting stuck with our arrogant hero.
This is the first book in a sequel series to the author’s earlier Hard series. I have not read the earlier books, so I had a brief moment of confusion getting all the players straight, but that worked out soon enough and everything was good from there. It is not necessary to read the previous series to enjoy this one.
The book was very well written, with a good plot that was easy to follow, and yet there are several surprises along the way, as well as some unanswered questions. The characters are very well developed and things promise to get even more interesting as things unfold. I am not only looking forward to the next book, but I am going to have to seek out the previous books as well so I can get more of this intriguing setting.
Highly recommended.

Harder Than Stone is a quick but frustrating read. The prologue is confusing and the ending was abrupt. I was completely surprised by Audra’s actions in the beginning of the book, as they went against everything she had been taught. However; I did enjoy the middle of the book. The story is fast paced and gives a lot of information in a non boring format. Based on the abrupt ending; a sequel or series may be in the works. I will read another book in the series or a sequel because the author has definitely piqued my interest. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

What a great book!
Audrey and Jameson is fighting for their life in the south American jungle. The two have instant chemistry but Jameson drives Audrey crazy. Jameson is the only one that keep Audrey alive once he finds out about her abilities, but Jameson isn’t a normal person either and they’re both being hunted by the Oculus.
I really enjoyed reading this book, the two have great chemistry, face pace story line and kept me on edge the entire time!
