Janet Evanovich’s #1 New York Times bestselling sensation Stephanie Plum returns in her twenty-fourth thriller as mutilated corpses litter the streets of New Jersey… Trouble comes in bunches for Stephanie Plum. First, professional grave robber and semi-professional loon, Simon Diggery, won’t let her take him in until she agrees to care for his boa constrictor, Ethel. Stephanie’s main … Stephanie’s main qualification for babysitting an extremely large snake is that she owns a stun gun—whether that’s for use on the wandering serpent or the petrified neighbors remains to be seen.
Events take a dark turn when headless bodies start appearing across town. At first, it’s just corpses from a funeral home and the morgue that have had the heads removed. But when a homeless man is murdered and dumped behind a church Stephanie knows that she’s the only one with a prayer of catching this killer.
If all that’s not enough, Diesel’s back in town. The 6-foot-tall, blonde-haired hunk is a man who accepts no limits—that includes locked doors, closed windows and underwear. Trenton’s hottest cop, Joe Morelli isn’t pleased at this unexpected arrival nor is Ranger, the high-powered security consultant who has his own plans for Stephanie.
As usual Jersey’s favorite bounty hunter is stuck in the middle with more questions than answers. What’s the deal with Grandma Mazur’s latest online paramour? Who is behind the startling epidemic of mutilated corpses? And is the enigmatic Diesel’s sudden appearance a coincidence or the cause of recent deadly events?

Love this book
Anything Janet Evonovitch writes is wonderful
Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter, has been sent after a grave robber who skipped bail. The problem… his pet python. And zombies. While Stephanie’s boyfriend, Joe Morelli, tracks down the brain stealing zombies, Stephanie has to deal with Diesel. Diesel is handsome, irresistible and doesn’t have an issue with letting himself into Stephanie’s locked apartment. Along with everything else Stephanie has to keep an eye on her Grandma Mazur who has found a new boyfriend.
This is another fun filled, laugh-out-loud Stephanie Plum adventure. Janet Evanovich never disappoints in this series. Although I was a bit disappointed in the lack of Ranger appearances, all was made good with the presence of Diesel. We usually only get to see him in the in-between novels. He was a good addition to this story. His special skills went hand and hand with the zombie theme. Stephanie manages to stay out of too much trouble, but she still has bad car juju and goes through a few too many this time. Lula is back and once again steals the show with her outrageous outfits and no holds bar attitude. You gotta love her.
I got this Audio book from the library. Great book plenty of of laughs.
I love the entire Stephanie Plum Series. It’s a great easy read!
Janet Evanovich is one of my favorite authors. This, like all her books, is a quick, fun read. Certainly not world-building, not one of her best, but definitely entertaining.
As always, Ms. Evanovich tells a very satisfying story with Stephanie, Lula, Morelli, Ranger and the gang. This one was more enjoyable than the last as Stephanie didn’t have as many bond jumpers to handle. The ones she did developed into stories of their own and were easy to follow, enjoy, and in some places, a little steamy between her and her men. 🙂 Looking forward to reading the next in line.
Couldn’t,t put it down. Always entertaining.
As always, enjoyable reading with some laugh-out-loud moments. I always look forward to the Stephanie Plum books.
