Janet Evanovich’s #1 New York Times bestselling sensation Stephanie Plum returns in her twenty-fourth thriller as mutilated corpses litter the streets of New Jersey… Trouble comes in bunches for Stephanie Plum. First, professional grave robber and semi-professional loon, Simon Diggery, won’t let her take him in until she agrees to care for his boa constrictor, Ethel. Stephanie’s main … Stephanie’s main qualification for babysitting an extremely large snake is that she owns a stun gun—whether that’s for use on the wandering serpent or the petrified neighbors remains to be seen.
Events take a dark turn when headless bodies start appearing across town. At first, it’s just corpses from a funeral home and the morgue that have had the heads removed. But when a homeless man is murdered and dumped behind a church Stephanie knows that she’s the only one with a prayer of catching this killer.
If all that’s not enough, Diesel’s back in town. The 6-foot-tall, blonde-haired hunk is a man who accepts no limits—that includes locked doors, closed windows and underwear. Trenton’s hottest cop, Joe Morelli isn’t pleased at this unexpected arrival nor is Ranger, the high-powered security consultant who has his own plans for Stephanie.
As usual Jersey’s favorite bounty hunter is stuck in the middle with more questions than answers. What’s the deal with Grandma Mazur’s latest online paramour? Who is behind the startling epidemic of mutilated corpses? And is the enigmatic Diesel’s sudden appearance a coincidence or the cause of recent deadly events?

love the book want Stephanie to get with Ranger and Diesel can’t wait for her next book
Her books are always the best, but her last few are not that great . I have read all of her books!!’ But this one was a let down . It was more about a snake and Sobies. Lacking in the hummer she usually has .
boring, formula based
what happened to our original Stephanie Plum? It seems now that her sex triangle with Ranger and the cop is all consuming and the plot has fallen into a mishmash of weirdos and sadists. Her sidekick is a shallow overblown stereotype.
It used to be that we welcomed each new book in the series. Now we wait until the prices gets close to zero before we buy. Sorry Janet. Work a little harder on the next plot and dampen the overt sexuality PLEASE
You can’t go wrong with Stephanie Plum
Like all of the Stephanie Plum books, I loved it!
Another humorous adventure in the Stephanie Plum series. Not one to start the series, but if you have read all the others you should read this one as well.
Should be liked by a grammar school boy
Excellent, as always, never disappoints.
Wonderful and funny read. All of this series has been first class. You don’t know what Stephanie is going to do next.
Fun to read detective novel
Love Ms. Plum!
Is was very disappointed in this book. Didn’t hold my interest Not her usual style I’m a big fan but this book was not up to her writing talent
Never disappointed with her books. Can’t wait for the next one!
Her usual unpredictable humor. Lula never fails to make you laugh til you cry
I love these stories, have them all.
Perhaps it’s time for evanovich to retire this series. They’re extremely boring…nothing new in the plots and hardly worth the money to purchase. They were great in the beginning, but somewhere around book 12 they lost their newness and appeal.
Her books are getting very boring!! Very disappointed in last 2 books!
Go Stephanie maybe more Ranger
I read them because I keep hoping they’ll go back to being as hood as the earlier ones. Didn’t happen. It was good, I still like the characters but it’s just like the first 9 or 10
