6 stars! My heart is exploding! I loved this so freaking much. So fantastic, from beginning to end. I was caught up with the drama and passion of the overall story and with Kat and Beckett’s story.
5 stars – I loved it!
Beckett Murda is determined to help bring down his enemies and clear their names. What he doesn’t expect is to find himself falling for the feisty Katherine Rixey, his best friend’s little sister.
What an ending to the Hard Ink teams fight! Beckett and Kat have been snapping at each other since the first time they meet. Their relationship is one filled with communication issues, trauma, fear, and lots of emotion. I adored every minute of it. Beckett has been the strong silent type from the beginning and I love that we finally get to see the man hidden behind that mask. His struggle to speak his feelings and overcome his past was so powerful and heartbreaking. I just wanted to keep giving him a hug, especially considering his past.
Kat was a sassy and smart woman who I instantly fell in love with. I loved that she didn’t let Beckett hide from her. She would keep pushing until he admitted what was wrong, which was what he needed. The situation that brought her to Hard Ink was one that was relatable and I could easily understand her anger and frustration at herself for the incident, as well as fear of what could happen in the future. Also, her acceptance of Beckett’s quietness was wonderful. She never pushed him to talk unless it was necessary. It was refreshing.
The fight with Seneka has finally wrapped up and the real culprit was caught. It was a nonstop adventure in this book as they raced to gather evidence and clean up loose ends. There were times I was on the edge of my seat in suspense, was fearful for characters, and I wanted to cry. Overall this was a wonderful ending for this series and I am sad to see it end. These characters will forever live in my heart and I know I will reread this series again in the future.
Trigger Warnings:
– References to kidnapping, gangs, human trafficking, and abuse.
– Beckett was abused as a child and suffers nightmares from it.
– Kat was being stalked and harassed by an ex-boyfriend.
Loved the whole series – should be read in order, but not absolutely necessary.
Loved the characters and the story line. Read the book in one seating. So good.
Didn’t we all know that Beckett Murda would break our hearts with his story? If you haven’t read the rest of this series, stop what you’re doing and start at the first book, Hard as It Gets. This is not a “jump in anywhere” type of series. And all of the books are amazing, so you won’t have any regrets. For those of you who have been reading along, I’m sure you feel as I do…Beckett needed a strong woman who also has a squishy inside. That woman is Kat.
Along with the problems this whole group of friends have with trying to stay alive as people are actively out to kill them, Beckett has the issue of Kat being one of his best friend’s sister. Yikes! But, as is the case in the Hard Ink series, they fall fast and hard. They definitely care about trying not to hurt anyone or make things weird, but they cannot help the draw they have to one another.
This is the story where the reader gets closure. The gang over at Hard Ink is closing in on finding their enemies while also finding some help in unlikely places. Of course, things don’t always go to plan. But this group is amazing at improvisation so you know they’ll make it through. The question is, how intact will they be at the end? It’s a fun and intense ride, as it has been all throughout the other stories. Getting Beckett’s story on top of the closure is icing on the cake.
I’m obviously being vague and that’s so I don’t ruin it for anyone else. There’s a bit at the end that seems a bit rushed after the build up, but in hindsight I felt differently. After all, this whole series takes place in about a month span, so everything moves quickly. From the characters who fall in love, to new characters popping up, to the way things conclude.
I’m very happy I found this author and I’m looking forward to reading more from her in the future. I believe I’ll start looking for her Raven Riders series next since it seems to be a spin off of this series.
I gobbled this series up. It is so good.

Hard to Let Go was the fourth book in the Hard Ink series by Laura Kaye. It was a continuation of the suspenseful plot that started in book one but focused on Beckett and Kate.
Beckett Murda was one of the five former Special Forces team that was injured in an ambush and then dishonorably discharged. The surviving members of the team were secretly working together to clear their names.
Katherine “Kate” Rixey was the sister to Nick (book one, Hard As It Gets) and Jeremy (book three.five, Hard to Be Good). She was beautiful, sassy, smart, independent and a successful attorney.
I really enjoyed this story. It was fast paced, suspenseful, sexy, fun and emotional all at the same time. It concluded the main storyline that was flowing throughout the series while highlighting the personalities and baggage of each team member, ultimately bringing healing and a new beginning for each one.
Although all of the team members have their HEA story, the Ravens Riders MC, who were introduced in this series, have their stories next so hopefully we’ll still see the Hard Ink gang going forward. I’m looking forward to whatever Kaye brings us next.
I liked all of the Hard Ink series enough to read them twice! They are my go to airplane and vacation reads.
Oh, Beckett 🙂 I can’t believe this series has come to an end BUT Laura Kaye did an awesome job as always and it was a perfect ending for all of them.
The characters are x-military so be prepared for language they would use. I loved Beckett and his vulnerability and feisty Kat.
Had not read the previous books in the series but yu don’t need to, but you will want to!
Can I give this book 6 stars? I love the Hard Ink series, and the conclusion of the series did not disappoint! It was amazing how everything played out. I just love Beckett, I swear as I read each of these stories, I didn’t know who was my favorite, oh but Beckett wins! Kat was amazing too!
I loved this book and the whole Hard Ink series. The love scenes are to die for.
Love everything by this author!
