Kristy Bromberg delivers another passionate, emotional second-chance romance in Hard to Hold, the second book in the Play Hard series of sports romances. Centered on four sports agent sisters, this book dives into the world of major league soccer with the beauty queen sister, Lennox Kincade, and British footballing bad-boy, Rush McKenzie. I was completely hooked before I even got through the prologue—I wanted more and I wanted it now! But Bromberg did an incredible job pacing this story to build the emotion and lay the groundwork of Lennox and Rush’s heart-wrenching story.
This story was intense in every sense of the word, and Bromberg sets that stage from page one. Rush, the gorgeous, tattooed and devil-may-care British soccer star, is drowning in a sea of controversy. Laying low in LA with a mutual friend, he’s in an impossible situation dealing with the nightmare of the scandal he’s become embroiled in. He’s angry, and he’s on the cusp of losing everything he’s worked for. He may be a charming and sexy on the outside but beneath the surface, if anyone cared enough to look, is a vulnerable man with a devastating history he’s desperately trying to move beyond. My heart broke positively broke for him.
Lennox had her own issues. A former beauty queen, she’s facing the real possibility that the people she trusts the most—her family—see her as no more than the company window dressing. Pretty little Lennox isn’t capable of the big deals. Coupled with the toxic, male-dominated-industry fodder she overhears, she’s convinced now more than ever that her family doesn’t truly believe she can handle her job. That has her pouncing on the first opportunity that comes her way, and she finds herself in a very precarious position. Lennox has a lot of wanderlust in her, and all of these issues swirling around her send her jetting off to LA to hide out with her best friend, Johnny. Turns out that Johnny isn’t only Lennox’s refuge from the storm.
The chemistry between Lennox and Rush was instantaneous. Ok, so it doesn’t hurt that he was completely naked, in all his chiseled and tatted glory, in their first meeting. But these two were kindred spirits—no one expects anything more from either of them than what they can see at the surface. Neither of them was looking to add any further complications to their already complicated lives, they were both just looking for a little distraction. But what they wound up finding in each other was far beyond either’s expectations. The banter, the chemistry, the camaraderie, the visceral attraction, Lennox and Rush had it all, and their passion for each other absolutely set the pages on fire.
Full of heart, burning with heat and teeming with emotion, and I simply couldn’t put Hard to Hold down. I felt all the feels and I sobbed all the tears as I practically inhaled this story. I loved these characters, I loved their story, and Kristy gutted me with the depth of emotion in Lennox and Rush’s love story. This was the kind of story I didn’t want to stop reading and got mad when I had to put it down. Bring on the next Kincaide sister! Five stars from me for Hard to Hold by K. Bromberg!

READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT
Cute. Soccery. Sports-agent-ish.
I really enjoyed reading this.
It was constant sparks and flirting and falling in love from that first naked meet cute. Adorable!
We also get some very heartbreaking moments from the past.
But the story was also a tiny bit insta for my tastes. I didn’t even have time to feel much of anything between them before they’re halfway in love. It was a bit weird. It was like I missed something after they met. And while I think it was all a bit fast … the book could’ve also been a tiny bit shorter and nothing would have been missing. There’s a bit too much back and forth. Yes, we know that you don’t want anything serious, but we also know that we’ll get that happy end – so just hurry up already! I said that about the first book too. So that’s just a brombergish thing! LOL.
But it was a really fun and sexy and emotional sports romance!
I especially loved the Rush-Meets-His-Fans moments. Adorbs!
And those sad scenes from the past. Heartbreaking.
Can’t wait to read the next two books!
And I also wouldn’t mind seeing a girl-power Jerry McGuire kind of sports-rom-com series on Netflix one day!
I’m enjoying this series. Each book and story is unique to each couple and I’m learning a lot about the different sports. Light, fun and sexy stories just what I love in a romance book.
I still remember when Kristy Bromberg entered the romance scene. I mean, which tried and true romance lover has not read DRIVEN? But I had not read any of Kristy’s books for a hot minute, and then FLIRTING WITH 40 came around, and I was hooked. So when the opportunity to read HARD TO HOLD (Play Hard Book 2) came around, it was a no-brainer. I mean, disgraced British footballer, an agent with something to prove, how was this not going to be great?
And it so was. Rush and Lennox are white hot passion, the kind that jumps off the page, that makes other people in the room realize that they need a fan or a cold drink. But more than that, these two are perfect for each other in the more important ways. They really get each other. They’re able to look beyond the beautiful surface and reputations, and see what needs to be seen. To peel away the facade and get down to what’s true.
I absolutely loved this book, and not only can I not wait for HARD TO SCORE, the next book in the series, I am holding space to go back and read HARD TO HANDLE, Hunter’s and Dekker’s book. The thing that I am most excited about, though, is rediscovering Kristy’s talent. I’ve been missing out, but I’m back. And so should you be. Grab these books and enjoy.
K Bromberg is at her best with Hard to Hold! I LOVED this book so much.
When Lennox Kincade over hears a conversation Finn wants her to hear at an agent conference in Vegas it lights a fire under her butt and she takes flight but was she suppose to hear the conversation ?? It puts so many thoughts and wonders into her head and it sends her running again to California because her BFF is there and Johnny will do another for Lennox.
Rush McKenzie is the hot, sexy, Soccer God from England and is hiding out at Johnny’s too because of his own scandal .. No Comment .. Until he finds out he is working with Lennox at the MLS and knows there chemistry will have to take a back seat or do they just hide there feelings from everyone ??
Can these two sexual individual’s hide there “having fun” from everyone because that is what Lennox wants and needs, she doesn’t want to be known as the agent that gets the client by sex !! But Rush is NOT her client !! She still feels she needs him to trust her like she trust him but with his past she isn’t sure she can’t get him to tell her about it and or even trust her.
They have a lots of work to do in the 3 months they are both contracted with the MLS, him to promote the sport and her the be the athlete advocate and to make sure Rush is happy and ohhh boyyy does she make him happy !! With every happiness is sadness and they bother know there time is almost up when Rusg has to go back to Liverpool and hearts will be broken. Was it ALL worth the heart ache ??
When I read the 1st installment of the Kincade sisters it was my very 1st K. Bromberg book and it was my best read of 2020 and this installment was even BETTER !! These Kincade sisters are the bomb !! Loved every word !!
I am loving this series! The Kincade sisters are awesome. Lennox is known as the pretty one that will do anything to get a client. At least that what all the other male sports agents say about her behind her back. When she attends a conference and learns some things that her family is keeping from her, she takes matters in to her own hands and sets out to make a name for herself. Star footballer, Rush McKenzie has found himself in hot water. He heads to the States to lay low and finds himself working with Lennox. The sparks between these two are hot enough to burn the pages. They find something so special that what started out as fling turns in to so much more. When they both need to face their issues, they learn what the really have in each other. I really loved Rush and Lennox’s story. The love is so strong and sweet. Really looking forward to more in this series!
Hard to Hold was supposed to be about playing hard, it wasn’t supposed to be anything but fun but Lennox and Rush didn’t take into consideration that sometimes things don’t go according to plan. Their story held me deep within the pages as the insecurities and doubts wrapped around my heart and squeezed tight. A story that was about your heart and soul searching for home, wandering aimlessly until all the stars aligned. Lennox and Rush owned my heart and had me totally immersed into their world. This is a story that holds hard and holds tight and will have you on a roller coaster of emotions but when all is said and done the ride will be so worth every high and low.
I felt you could easily read this as a standalone because although Book 2 in the series and the rest of the Kincade family are part of this story, it will not affect your enjoyment of reading more about Lennox and meeting the wonderful Rush McKenzie.
Lennox feels no-one is taking her seriously, not her family or the other sports agents. When a fellow agent suggests how she gets clients, she determined to prove them wrong and goes off to LA for a job her father turned down on her behalf.
Rush McKenzie is a sexy, broody British footballer who plays for Liverpool FC and has fled to LA hoping the scandal he’s been accused of back home dies down.
Lennox goes to stay with her best friend and college roommate Johnny. What she doesn’t expects is to find Rush also staying there and then finding out they will be working together for the MLS for the next 3 months. They meet for the first time under the most unusual circumstances which is very funny and we get to see their fun side. Their chemistry and attraction to each other is instant and never in question but for Lennox that is exactly the problem she is fighting against.
Lennox is an ex beauty queen who is sassy and strong, stubborn and independent but her self esteem is low. She free-spirited with a very restless personality and this reflects on her relationships. She is a woman who goes after what she wants without shame or fear, even if everybody is warning her against it. Lennox is fascinated by Rush and positive the slander against him is all lies so confused why he isn’t standing up for himself especially when it threatens the career he has worked so hard for.
Rush provides some of the most heartbreaking scenes in this book, especially when we hear about his past and find out what he went through to achieve all he has. K Bromberg certainly gives the reader a wonderful hero who shows such loyalty, empathy, dedication along with a flirty, sexy, fun side. When he meets his fans and totally understands them, we see the big heart he hides from everyone else except Lennox.
Their banter is great throughout the book and the constant will they-won’t they scenarios keep you guessing what is going to happen. For an avid football fan I did find some of the football side of things a bit questionable but overall it was a fun and emotional sports romance. The ending is shocking with a great twist and the epilogue so sweet. Rush and Lennox were the perfect match!
4.25 stars—HARD TO HOLD is the second instalment in K.Bromberg’s contemporary, adult PLAY HARD erotic romance series focusing on the Kincade sisters-sports agents who work for the family owned Kincade Sports Management (KSM). This is UK soccer (footballer) Rush McKenzie, and sports agent Lennox Kincade’s story line. HARD TO HOLD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Lennox and Rush) HARD TO HOLD follows the building romance and relationship between American sports agent Lennox Kincade, and British soccer star Rush McKenzie. Rush McKenzie is currently hiding in America following a sporting scandal that could all but destroy his burgeoning career but Rush would quickly discover that the American MLS (Major League Soccer) is scouting our hero using sports agent Lennox Kincade, a former pageant beauty who works for her father’s KSM agency. All is not quite what is seems when it comes to Lennox Kincade, and in defiance of her family’s wishes, embarks on a solo mission when Major League Soccer contracts our heroine to ‘seduce’ one of the UK’s most notorious stars. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Lennox and Rush, and the potential fall-out as Rush’s time in America comes to a close.
Lennox Kincade struggles with her position within the family and at KSM. Believing she isn’t worthy, and the family is judging her based on prior performance, Lennox finds herself adrift, accepting a contract that is about to place our heroine in a precarious position. Rush McKenzie is currently hiding from a PR nightmare, a nightmare not of his making but a debt owed, has to be paid, and Rush becomes the fall-guy for a teammate whose personal life is about to implode.
The relationship between Lennox and Rush is one of immediate attraction but Lennox knows Rush is only in America to hide from the world but refuses to talk about what happened or why. With issues of trust beating at our story line couple, Lennox struggles to believe she is worthy of love, and Rush battles with the pull between Lennox, and his career back home. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Lennox’s sisters- Dekker Kincade and Hunter Maddox (Hard to Handle #1), Chase, Brexton, and their father Kenyon Kincade; Rush’s teammate Rory Matheson; rival sports agent Finn Sanderson; head of MLS Cannon Garner, and Lennox’s best friend Johnny.
HARD TO HOLD is a story of family and friendships, betrayal and revenge; secrets and lies, seduction, commitment and love. The premise is compelling and captivating; the romance is steamy and provocative; the characters are animated and charismatic. HARD TO HOLD is a wonderful addition to K.Bromberg’s Play Hard sports romance series.
After I read Hard to Handle and was blown away by it I really couldn’t wait for Hard to Hold, which is the second book in the Play Hard series written by K. Bromberg and Kristy didn’t disappoint!
As you might know this book series is about 4 sisters – Dekker, Brexton, Chase and Lennox. All four work for their dad, Kenyon Kincade, at Kincade Sports Management. He assigns them all that each of his daughters have to sign on new sports athletes. but somehow Lennox feels left out.
This book is about Lennox Kincade. She feels like she isn’t taken seriously by her other sports agent because she is a woman. She also feels that her family isn’t behind her as she thought they were. Lennox flew to Los Angeles and took a contract with Major League Soccer to save/repair her reputation. But then she is told that she has to recruit the Premier League footballer, Rush McKenzie. He is playing for Liverpool and is in the middle of a huge scandal. But that’s not the only problem she has. She doesn’t know how she can resist the charm of the sexy British Soccer Player.
Kristy did it again! She absolutely blew me away with this book. It was so good I just couldn’t put it down till I finished it. And know I have a huge crush on Rush! I am so in love with the sexy British soccer player and I just want to read more of him! Rush and Lennox complete each other on so many levels it’s wonderful to read. I loved their banter and they have so much passion and chemistry from the very first second which you can’t deny! Hard to Hold is a contemporary sports romance you don’t want to miss! A definitely must read!
Hurry up 2021 because I really need the next two books!

I have expressed so many times my unconditional love for K. Bromberg’s novels. I also said she started this series with a serious bang and not only she did that but she has killed it with the following installment. If I want an emotional, gripping sports romance, I know she will 100% deliver. She did not fail this time either. She is doing incredibly well with this series but I am not surprised since I know how talented she is already. If you thought you loved Hard to Handle, get ready to love Hard to Hold even more.
So, this one is the second installment in Kristy’s Play Hard series and it continues the story of the Kincade sisters, their sports agency and the men who sweep them off their feet. Now it’s time for Lennox to help with the agency and she is currently not feeling that her family or the men in her job field take her seriously. She is about to change that when she meets Rush McKenzie. He is a famous British soccer player and a known bad boy with a huge scandal around him. But appearances are deceptive, both characters see though them and sparks fly. What will happen with their forbidden but powerful chemistry?
Every single thing about him captivates every single thing within me.
I have a new favorite in the Play Hard series. Yes, you read that right. It was difficult because I really loved Hard to Handle and the couple in it but Hard to Hold was a masterpiece. I am a sucker for Kristy’s love stories and I am so happy she keeps giving us such breathtaking creations. Her heroines kick serious ass and I am huge fan of that. Lennox does not take any shit from anyone. She is strong and vulnerable at the same time (depending on the situation she is in).
I’ve had her. I want her again.
Maybe telling me she’s off limits has fed that fire.
Or maybe I just want her.
And Rush. *sigh* I love a broken hero and an author who knows how to make me love him. Rush believes he does not need anyone or anything but he absolutely does. Yes, the sexual chemistry between this couple burns the pages but their emotional connection just made me melt. I loved reading this love story and how the feelings developed between Nox and Rush. Kristy did an outstanding job with Hard to Hold and trust me, you cannot miss it.
“Sometimes love is hard to hold on to but if he’s the one, if he’s where you keep wanting to wander to when you look at that globe, then maybe he’s the one you’re meant to have.”
Therefore, I am rating Hard to Hold with 5 STARS because this story consumed me from beginning to end and I am sure many will love it as much as I did. Kristy gave us so many amazing releases this year and this one is sure going on my top favorites. I was so into this story and I was rooting for Lennox and Rush’s happy ending. This couple had such an intense connection and it definitely shows in every page of this book. I am so happy and I cannot wait to read the rest of the stories in the Play Hard series. Highly, HIGHLY recommend reading this one!
Another book filled with the feels by K. Bromberg!
I haven’t read a Bromberg book yet that hasn’t gripped me some how. When I heard this book was about soccer I wasn’t too excited. So it says something that she can take a book about a sport I’m all “eh” about and make it a page turner for me.
One where I’m rooting for both the heroine and the hero. One where I’m feeling all the feels while they explore each other and what love is. And family. And loyalty.
Sounds corny to me and I wrote it but it’s not.
This book is the second in a standalone series revolving around the four sister sports agents of Kincaid Sports Management, this book is about Lennox Kincaid. The wanderer. She believes her family doesn’t trust her, her peers hold her low esteem and takes a job for the MLS because her family didn’t want her to. She signed on the dotted line impulsively just to get away for awhile.
When she runs into Rush, Liverpool’s star player and finds out she not only has to live with him, but share a bathroom with him the sparks fly.
However Rush is running too. He’s trying to wait out a scandal in America hoping it blows over without exposing who he really is.
I highly recommend it.
You thought hard to Handle was good ? Kristy blows it out the water with this one ….
Lennox is sassy and fierce, confident and bad ass ! I loved her, everything about her, her work ethnic and her life goals but at the same time her vulnerability despite her facade !
Rush is everything! Throughout reading all I could imagine was that scouse (someone from Liverpool) accent, cocky but charming attitude, and the drop dead gorgeousness!
A real Page Turner that I was hooked from the very beginning, so intriguing with a need to just know more!
A story completely unexpected to me in more than a few ways, been English,it was so nice and comforting too to read some English phrases and referring to Liverpool and footie in our ways.
The story is very much fun and flirty and these two have an undeniable chemistry that fills The story with heat. But it’s also a real rollercoaster, because the further I got, the more real things became, the emotions Flowed and I ended up needing a box of tissues. Covering subjects and touching base on so many topics and real life events, looking at mis-treat and Mis-judged, living in the life of paparazzi, finding it hard to trust and not knowing who to, dealing with loss and How i imagine it to be, being a woman in a mostly male led industry, proving us women have more balls than the men !
These Kincade sisters are proving to be a family that deserves every bit of success and happiness and not some to underestimate !
An absolute brilliant all rounder read that had all the feels – a must read of 2020!
#itsfootballnotsoccer
This is the second book in the Play Hard series and it was just as amazing as the first, if not better. Dekker received her HEA in book one. So onto another Kincade sister, Lennox. She’s a sports agent with something to prove. She’s more than just a pretty face and can hold her own in a mostly male profession. So, she takes off to LA to get away from her family and the criticism from the public and makes a deal with the devil. She decides to help recruit a player. Not knowing that the player is Rush, a football star in Europe. These two end up being roommates. Rush is hiding in LA due to a scandal with one of his teammates. Instant chemistry! Off the charts we’re talking. Neither wants a relationship. But they do want to let loose and have some fun. But there’s those pesky feelings that start to creep in. Can these two keep there personal and public relationship separate? Or are the destined to fall for one another and don’t give a crap what anyone says. There are flashbacks into the past that will make your heart hurt. And we get both Rush and Lennox’s POV. This book will keep you interested from the first page to the last. It is a sports romance with lots of chemistry and laughter. You definitely don’t want to miss this one.
K. Bromberg does it AGAIN!!! She made me fall in love with another sports romance and I don’t even like sports romances, but this one….this one really did it for me. I loved this more than the first. I thought I loved Hard to Handle and I really did, but Hard to Hold is now my favorite. Gosh….Rush and Lennox’s story made me fall so hard for these two. I loved everything about Rush…He can swoon the pants off of any woman. Rush and Lennox together set those pages on fire. I couldn’t get enough of these two and hated for their story to end. Now I can’t wait to see what K. Bromberg has in store for the next book and I’m wondering if I’ll love it as much as this one. I never thought I’d like sports romances, but anything K. Bromberg writes, I read and she has made me love a romance that I never thought that I would. Thanks K. Bromberg.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
Rush McKenzie. British. Tattooed. Sexy. Premier League football player…..you had me at British.
Lennox Kincade. Sports agent. Gorgeous. Defiant. Takes what she wants when she wants it and my new girl crush!
Rush McKenzie is embroiled in a scandal and as we all know there is always more to a scandal than meets the eye, especially when it’s a celebrity one. Rush departs to the US to avoid the bad press and wait for things to settle down. Lennox Kincade is left wondering after some malicious comments if she is just a pretty face to her colleagues and her family and not taken seriously. She decides to take a job with MSL and in doing so ends up working with Rush. There’s an instant attraction between these two and Lennox isn’t afraid to go after what she wants and she wants Rush McKenzie. So it would seem the next three months are going to be interesting on the work and play front and they are. It’s a story full of twists and turns and has you wondering if loyalty is a two-way street. K. Bromberg doesn’t disappoint and gives us so many characters in this story that you can’t help but love. The characters that surround Rush are so well developed and hearing from Lennox’s sisters and dad is a joy. The star of Hard to Hold for me is Lennox. I loved her instantly with her kick-arse attitude and the ability to give as good as she gets in a man dominated profession. She has her vulnerabilities of course, but they don’t overshadow her attitude to life.”From the first moment I laid eyes on Rush, I knew we’d end up a tangled mass of limbs and sheets.” As I said she’s my latest girl crush. Rush isn’t too bad either 😉
**4.5 stars**
Hard to Hold is the second in the Play Hard series but still a standalone. I absolutely loved Hard to Handle, and couldn’t wait for Lennox’s book. This did not disappoint at all! Lennox is the middle child of the Kincade sisters. She is a previous beauty queen turned agent. After a sports agent conference where a bunch of men spoke badly of her and it seems her family has also put her down, her confidence is shot and so she agrees to a deal with the devil. Cannon wants her as a Player Ambassador for his MLS team in LA. But, he also wants her to recruit a player. And who does he want her to recruit? Her new roommate, Rush, who’s in the middle of a PR nightmare. These two were actually quite similar. Both are looking for fun with no strings attached. They have intense chemistry. At times, I wanted to shake Lennox with her low confidence, yet you can certainly understand why she would feel that way. I loved Rush. There are alternating chapters of his past and they were heartbreaking. This was a lot more emotional than I anticipated. I would definitely recommend this fun, sexy sports romance. I’m so looking forward to the next book in the series!
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I am truly loving these Kincade sisters! Lennox and Rush are so perfect together! Two people who both end up in LA for very different reasons, but find themselves gravitating to each other and finding a kindred spirit between them.
What I love about Kristy’s writing is that she beautifully balances what her characters are going through in the story, both physically and emotionally. Rush has been dealt some pretty crappy cards as of late, embroiled in a scandal he’s not allowed to talk about. Kristy lays out for the reader what is going on with that, but also Rush’s backstory and how he got to where he is. She delves into his emotions and feelings, which is often hard to do for a male character without them coming across as too soft, but I was completely obsessed with Rush and all the parts of him we get to see.
Lennox has suffered some dings to her reputation as well, a lot of it coming from her male counterparts in sports management. She heads to LA in a last minute decision to take a contract her family told her not to. After she’s signed on the dotted line, she realizes what she’s gotten herself in to, but could this be the thing that helps her get her reputation, and her mindset, back on track?
Lennox and Rush together are smoking hot! All that absolutely horrible sex they were having was making me have hot flashes!! But for the first time ever, they’ve found in each other something they’ve never experienced before. They find the missing pieces of themselves, their compass. As much as I loved Dekker and Hunter’s story, Lennox and Rush’s story just really hit me straight in the feels. They’ve both suffered losses that have changed them irrevocably and now they have a chance to experience true love for the first time, if they aren’t too scared to try.
I loved getting to see all the Kincade sisters again and of course the Patriarch of the family who always seems to know everything that’s going on and gives the best advice. I’d love to punch one particularly douchey agent right in his junk!! I’m holding out hope he gets his come-uppance before this series is over. I can’t wait to read the next two sister’s stories!
Hard to Hold or Hard to Hold onto…
She likes quick and uncomplicated. No attachments. No distractions. Until a hot tatted up Brit in all his glory steps up to her.
He’s sin personified. Sexy beyond words and exactly her type. He’s also technically off limits. Guess it’s a good thing nether are much for rules because makes everything complicated.
Feelings get involved. The “fun” isn’t carefree anymore. Choices need to be made. But you should always bet on love because (at least in fiction) love always wins!
