OK I guess. A guy from UK in AZ prison awaiting sentence for dealing party drugs. While there he wrote a book without a connection (barely) to Sheriff Joe Arpio. Misleading title. No new insights on the subject and he stops the book at sentencing. No mention of him after Prison. (He lectures helps the community, charity, etc.) On what happens to the other players in this drama. The book is an interesting glimpse into the inner workings of part of the justice system but is solely focused on arrest-sentence. And that is all. It got old after a bit and I skimmed the last half as things became repetitive. Would not recommend unless your into prison time books.
This book held my interest enough that I plan to read the next book in the trilogy, even though I did not read the first one.
I’m loving this book! The story moves right along with something new around every corner. Wide variety of characters to keep you shaking your head in disbelief. Way to go England.
This was a fascinating read about the horrors of the jail system and people waiting in limbo to try and get their cases through. Arizona should be ashamed of sherrif Arpaio.
An inside look at prison life for those who hope to never be there. The prisoners have their own code of conduct and there’s always a way to enforce it
too dark and too real
I selected this book to read because I have a family member currently incarcerated in an Arizona prison. I know it’s no picnic and I even believe the author had the experiences he described. But after 15 chapters, I skipped to the last one, saw that I had missed nothing but more depressing stuff and deleted the book from my Kindle. It’s like it was the same chapter over and over. Who needs that?
Powerful book. It’s unreal how a jail like this exists in America. The sheriff’s now a defendant in his own trial. There’s absolutely no reason to treat prisoners like the proud “toughest sheriff in America” Treats his, many awaiting trial. I’m not an extreme liberal thinking these men need cuddling so I understand punishment … These men were cruelly abused and when you read this book, you’ll agree. The entire criminal justice system in Arizona needs to be investigated
Having worked in the jail environment, this is pretty close to the truth. Seeing it from the side of the inmate it’s pretty freaky. I wouldn’t want to be there!
Really good book, everyone should read
Not my cup of tea
Kept me interested.
Went on for too long. I realize it was a long time but too many he got smashed stories. We got the point.
