She doesn’t belong on Atera no matter what the hottie lizardman may say… lights her up inside, she’s determined to get off his godforsaken planet.
Nakan is busy caring for his tribe and fighting off challengers to his position as Warlord of the Hard Sands. A mate? And an alien human female, at that? No, he has other responsibilities that need his attention. Kalinda of Earth can’t be for him. It does not matter that her curves stir his blood like she’s his true mate.
But if Nakan won’t have her, his enemies will. Too bad for them that the Warlord of the Hard Sands doesn’t share. He’ll have to find a way to claim his mate and hold his position, or he’ll lose everything: his woman, his tribe, his territory… and his life.
Part of the WARLORDS OF ATERA series:

I am loving these characters and the world building for Hard Sands. These are aliens with differences, not just “bigger humans.” I enjoyed how even in the advanced world, Nakan and his people live simply. Kalinda was interesting as she didn’t see where she fit into this world. It wasn’t until she accepted Nakan that she could discover her own path and us her skills. This is part of a series. It can be read as a stand-alone, how-ever, I think reading Red Sands first helps.
Nakan is a warlord of the Hard sands his people are lizard humanoids.
In the holy lands of their people a group of human woman crash lands on the planet and har considered gifts of there goddess to stop a war the women are split up between 3 ruling tribes.
Malinda is one of the woman that was sent to the hard sands clans. Nakan and Kalinda has really bad communication at the beginning but she is his Kode (Mate) he is trying but she wants off the planet. If these two can’t work together there will be a coup. This story is different from other shifter or alien stories. It has lots of action, drama, and so much more.
Voluntarily review a copy it was a fun read
Hard Sands is the second novel in this series. I read Red Sands and really enjoyed it. Hard Sands did not deviate from the plot of Red Sands. The War Lord leader finds his mate in the human female that has crashed on his planet. I expected something more with Hard Sands to develop conflict differently than the previous novel. The heroine, Kalinda, got annoying after a while with her unsure feelings. She was traveling to another planet to marry a strange alien when her aircraft crashed near the Heart Sands. In Hard Sands she got a lizard male and not the alien male she thought she was going to get. The novel was good, however I wanted there to be a different type of conflict and the human female not to be center like in the previous novel.
Kalinda was on her way to a planet far from Earth to marry an alien when she and the other women crash landed on a totally different planet.
Nakan is the ruling warlord of the Hard Sands area. His rule is not without problems, he needs to be better at a lot of things to be the kind of ruler his father was.
This is a fun Sci-Fi romance full of fabulous characters. It’s the second book in the series but you can read them alone or in either order.
Good fun.
Ok I need to start by saying that honestly the physical appearance of these aliens just doesn’t do it for me so my feelings do affect my review. Personally I would have preferred the artwork to be less full on so I could at least use my imagination rather than see a buff but to me ugly hero so perhaps just a torso or back shot ? So having got that out of the way what did I think of the story ?
Well I don’t mind a bit of alien romance once in a while as it shakes up my reading and I know with this author that it’s usually going to be fun, perhaps a bit wacky and always will have romance with saucy times eventually. . Well I didn’t particularly like either one of this couple which was such a shame. Kalinda was annoying constantly thinking about escaping whilst lusting after the lizard like Nakan and spent so much time in her head that honestly pages just went by with nothing happening. Nakan might have inherited the title Warlord but it’s very obvious that he is young and in many ways unprepared. If blunt he felt more like a toy boy than a strong alpha male but I’m guessing the author wanted to give him a more empathetic feel. Unfortunately he just wasn’t my idea of a hero and honestly I couldn’t imagine ever wanting to kiss him so sadly this was not a favourite read from this author and I sincerely hope that the next book I read by her will be more my type of escapist story.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Kalinda was on the way to meet her new mate.
Instead, she got stranded on a planet full of lizard like aliens.
Nakan was not looking for a mate.
He has too much to do since he became the new chief to his tribe.
However, the heart wants what the heart wants.
Won’t this be fun ?
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
