He’s a brawler, she’s a speed racer. Together, they’re explosive.Isobel:Heir to the McRae estate, Lennox is the huge Highlander everyone respects. But deep down, he’s a dirty fighter. He crashed my car, stole my first kiss, then walked away with another woman. There’s no reason why, years later, when I see him in a fight, I should be lusting after his body. They call him Hard Nox, but I know him, … should be lusting after his body. They call him Hard Nox, but I know him, and damned if he’s getting an easy ride back into my life.

Ooh, I’ve been waiting for this new generation of Jolie’s Scots, and reader, Hard Nox did not disappoint!
The story of Isobel and Lennox is years in the making, and the misunderstandings they need to unravel to get together are perfectly angsty, with a good hint of teenage drama thrown in.
But the characters grow up so much in the course of the novel, it’s a delight to watch. I dislike stories where the hero and heroine repeat the same mistakes over and over, and it was so good to see how both Lennox and Isobel dealt with their issues to emerge stronger.
From the gorgeous Scottish Highlands to glitzy Monaco, this book took me on a wild ride. I can’t wait for Skye and Sebastian’s stories!
This is one steamy read you do not want to miss! LOVE!
Hard Nox is the first book in the Wild Scots series by Jolie Vines and my first read by this author. The story line caught my attention from the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book, if it wasn’t for life and work…I would’ve devoured it in one sitting! This is a well written read and a great enemy to lovers/second chance romance told in dual POV (which happens to be my favorite!)
The story of Lennox McRae and Isobel Fitzroy is packed with, well, just everything! Between, the drama, action, fast cars, hot men, steamy sex scenes, angst (gotta have that), the twists and turns, the fights, kilts (yes, please), great family dynamics, tears and smiles. There literally is something for everyone to enjoy about this book!
I loved Nox and Isobel and watching them grow together all the while learning to navigate through their thoughts and feelings for each other! I highly recommend this book and Ms. Vines just gained herself a new follower!
Scots know how to be wild
Hard Nox is the first book in the new Wild Scots series by Jolie Vines and if the rest of the books in this series are anything like this first one then it is going to be an extremely entertaining series with a wild host of characters.
The author has done a really nice job of writing an interesting story-line with very entertaining characters. It was a pleasure to read this book as I was taken on a ride starting with the first page until the last. There were ups and downs and lots of emotions, along with the journey of two young people who grow into adults. Plus the chemistry between Lennox and Isobel was fabulously hot as it smoldered away under the surface for a long time until it finally erupted and then watch out!!!
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Isobel races cars and has tattoos. Nox a highlands, he was a dirty fighter,he crashed her car and took off with another female. Can they work through things to be together?

I used to have an obsession with romance books based in Scotland. I loved reading the accent and hearing it in my head. It has been a long time since I read something like that and this book has brought back those memories. Gah, that accent, the ruggedness of imagining those men in my head, kilts! Love it! These two won me over. Their chemistry was off the charts. I love how Lennox made Isobel stronger. I love my Isobel calmed Lennox. I need more of these books, even if it’s just to catch a glimpse of this couple in the background. I may even have to go back and read about the parents to get my accent quota filled. The only thing that stopped this book from getting 5 stars was the Warwick siblings, most especially Amber. I felt she was just stupid and could easily have been left out of the story. This is my first read by this author and I have a feeling I will be going back for more.
I loved this book from start to finish. The characters are engaging and well developed with their chemistry being undeniable from the moment they meet. The storyline flowed smoothly from beginning to the end.

Solid and well-spun beginning to this new series!
—>>> The next generation is featured in this first installment as a spin-off series from this author’s Marry A Scot series. The story is rich with numerous characters, yet it is still somehow a very tight-knit, comfortable, and familiar setting, this time featuring young adults still settling into their own skins with requisite angst and issues that are current and realistic to their situations. Four years earlier, Nox and Isobel shared a burgeoning awareness of each other via their sudden attraction followed by a kiss, only to be denied follow-through due to a misconception. Nox returns home from his stint in the military with grand plans he is yearning to pursue, and being with Isobel complements his plan, as does she, the woman she has now become. Isobel is on the cusp of striking out on her own as well, but she has always been fiercely determined to remain independent of her family’s wealth. Her own terms, only. As a younger sibling in an entitled and therefore traditionally and socially entrenched family, she has always felt less consequential, acting out in numerous ways throughout her youth. It is Nox who finally steps up to show her what he sees, and that is someone he loves, treasures and cannot do without.

This is the first book by Jolie Vines and it was great that even though this is a spin off from her originally series you don’t need to have read the others, all though in saying that I did want to start the other series after meeting the characters from it. Lennox and Isobel have grown up together and Isobel has had the hots for Lennox for a long time but neither knew they were actually attracted to each other and a miss understanding causes Isobel to want nothing to do with him. Now he is back after 4 years and he has plans not just for when he takes over from his father but for Isobel also, however both their pasts won’t make it easy so this leads to tension, frustration, fights, fast cars and the need to communicate if they want their happily ever after!

Hard Nox by Jolie Vines is book One in the Wild Scots Series. This is the story of Lennox ‘Nox’ and Isobel. Isobel and Nox shared a kiss when they were younger which of course added to Isobel’s crush but then he left for the military. Isobel has image issue but has moved on to fast cars and daredevil ways. But now Nox is back from being away and Isobel is set on not giving in to her feelings or to him.
I enjoyed seeing their story play out and excited for this new series.
HFN ending that leads up to the next book, told in both POVs, strong female lead and an alpha male. Love ing families I believed are from another series. This is the first time reading this author and I can’t wait for more.
Lennox future clan leader is hated that’s pho’s feelings for his non-blood related cousin Isobel, she was 16 and he 18 when they shared their first kiss as well as their first car crash. But Lennox was caught holding hands with another girl within an hour after kissing Is. 4 years her hatred towards him was still very much going on but Lennox never cleared the air until the last thread made her bitter. Will the air be cleansed and be able to start afresh or will the bitterness still be much the problem to break their hearts from the possibilities that these two could have???
This is book one in the new series, Wild Scots. This is Isobel and Lennox’s story. Isobel sees Lennox differently than everyone else. He is her brother’s best friend and when she was a teenager, he wrecked her car, stole her first kiss then walked away…..with another woman. Lennox sees Isobel as trouble. She has grown up into a beautiful woman, she races cars and has managed to tattoo her body over the years. Man, he would love to check out each and every one of those. Even after all the time that has passed, she still enters his thoughts. Can Lennox convince Isobel to give him a chance? This was a great story to read, the story line was smooth, the characters, they definitely brought their A game to the story. Enjoy!

Overall Grade: 1/2
Okay, I’m going to say this here. Hard Nox, Jolie Vines’s newest release, is her steamiest book yet. I didn’t think it was possible after Ally’s story in Oh Baby, but she did it. Hard Nox is Marry the Scots 2.0. In other words, this is the next generation of the heroes and heroines of Vines’s first series about a brotherhood of Highlanders finding love in the hills of Scotland. It’s a favorite series of mine already, so it isn’t a hardship to fall for this new book.
Hard Nox is Lennox McRae (Callum’s oldest son) and Isobel’s story (she’s the daughter of the McRae’s best friends, James and Beth Fitzroy). There is a bit of an age difference, but nothing that makes it taboo or forbidden. Isobel and Lennox have circled each other as they grew up, given their parents are best friends and Isobel’s brother, Sebastian, is Lennox’s best friend. However, one Christmas Isobel engages in a potentially dangerous race and Lennox rushes in to “save the day,” effectively noticing Isobel for the first time. That night, these two share a kiss, but confusion and life separate them for the next four years. The story takes up later when Lennox and Isobel are forced together through a series of events, and the two of them recognize a heavy attraction still beats between them. Will these two find their happy ending, or are they destined to remain friends?
At its heart, Hard Nox is really a story about trust and accepting your truth. Yes, Lennox and Isobel are steamy. These two are insatiable in the bedroom, and it’s surprising to read this face of Vines in this book. From Storm the Castle (Lennox’s father, Calum’s story) until now, her romance writing has evolved, taking on more and more traits common in romance. Yet, I know that Lennox and Isobel drove this story; they whispered to Vines their $exual connection, and she made it so. This, however, isn’t the focus of the story; it’s more the surprise of Vines’s storytelling in this book,
Instead, Hard Nox considers the messages we tell ourselves that create a truth that might be skewed. For some time, I’ve called it creating our own mythology that may or may not be grounded in truth. This is the case with the character of Isobel. She’s different in the sense that she struggles with learning and processing information, and her passion lies in restoring older vehicles and racing. She’s what we call more kinesthetic and less book-learned. Her problem lies in believing this is a deficiency as it doesn’t compare with other girls who aspire to a more traditional life. Through Isobel, Vines is challenging us to live in our own truth, to not compare ourselves to others, thinking there is only one way to exist. When Isobel finally realizes this truth, it opens her to the potentiality of a future with Lennox. That moment becomes the most beautiful part of Vines’s story. Isobel’s ability to revel in her truth is one of the strengths of this story.
Like Isobel, Lennox must also confront a truth: finding his way in the world regardless of his father’s intent. For many people living in their early twenties, they struggle to find their place in life that both please themselves and their family. On leaving the military, Lennox feels this complication. He has a dream, but he fears his father’s disapproval of it. This creates an ennui in him that potentially derails him; however, through the development of his relationship with Isobel, Lennox becomes empowered, and he finds his voice. He stands in his truth as a way to embrace his future. This becomes the second strength and lesson of Hard Nox.
Entertwined with her messages, Vines treats us to our favorite characters in the past. She provides updates enough to appease her fervent fans, but, as she has forthcoming books for the offspring of the Marry the Scots folks, those updates are minor. She clearly doesn’t want to spoil it for us. What this does is the equivalent of being wrapped in a warm blanket, given a cup of hot chocolate or tea, and sat by the fire. It’s like welcoming an old friend home. And this becomes the third strength of Hard Nox.
Jolie Vines’s Hard Nox is the pleasantest of surprises because she welcomes us back to the McRaes and Fitzroys while showing us another side of her writing. This book continues to hold the secrets of this clan, and I’m excited for more of its secrets to be revealed. She leaves this book with the most epic of her epilogues, more surprising than the end of Wasp’s story in Picture This, if you can imagine. After reading Hard Nox, it seems to me that Vines has definitely hit her stride, and the potentiality for her future is bright.
Different from the usual type of love story than I’ve been reading lately and I found it refreshingly full of romantic relational emotions.
Dual POVs that were well written and easy to follow capturing the essence and personality of Lennox and Isobel.
I loved the way they were connected and how they interacted with their families.
That first kiss when they were teenagers set the tone for their relationship which the author developed as they grew older and had a second chance at love.
The drama with the Warwicks added to the storyline and I thought the author pulled back just at the right time before it got too tedious. I hate when the troublemakers in the story end up making the main characters act stupid. Our main characters wised up pretty quickly and I loved the way they refused to be bullied and blackmailed by Amber, Casey, and Emily.
I liked the way Isobel grew and learned to trust Nox and the way he responded to her big reveal and insecurities.
Well written, easy to follow, full of relational tidbits and gems along the way. Loved all the supportive family and side stories.
Their connection was full of heat and the author showed her talent in creating and building up the passion they shared. Graphic and very steamy scenes.
An all around feel good keeper romance!

Hard Nox is the beginning of a brand new series by Jolie Vines. Through Isobel we see how learning disabilities and mental health issues shape a person’s life. Lennox discovers that the mischievous Isobel he grew up with is now a stunning young lady and he wants to get to know her. Isobel is worried that she is not an appropriate match for Lennox. Can Lennox win her over and help her discover her true potential or will her ghosts from the past threaten to tear apart her new relationship?
Jolie Vines is such a wonderful writer. I truly enjoy her books set in Scotland and this is no exception. You will want to read it!
Wasn’t sure how the next generation would turn out. Boy, was I surprised. I loved Isobel and Lennox! They were hot together and also brought the best out of each other. Together, their personal demons were calmed. Once misunderstandings were explained, their love grew stronger. I did not want to stop reading, and there were moments of joy, tears, and sighs. I highly recommend this story.
I received an ARC of this story as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.
I can’t help but have a big stupid grin on my face whenever I read one of Jolie Vines’ books. I mean… Can the woman write anything less than perfect? I was so incredibly sad when the story of the McRae family came to an end. So happy to have read it, but sad. When I found out she was writing a brand new serious that stems from the first I was ecstatic. This book didn’t disappoint.
Isobel and Lennox were absolutely incredible. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times my heart and my panties melted while reading this. This was a beautiful love story with plenty of heart. It was so nice to see our characters from the first series again plus meeting the new ones. I can’t wait for more of these!!
