London trial lawyer Gen has managed to corral that randy colt His Lordship Arthur Finch-Hatten, the Earl of Severn, at least as far as anyone knows. In public, he seems to be behaving himself, but she’s kind of gotten involved with her client in a way that the Bar’s Ethics Committee would totally not approve of. With Arthur’s impending trial in the House of Lords and the constant backstabbing in … constant backstabbing in her law office, the last thing Gen needs is for Arthur to whisk her off to Paris for the social wedding of the century to schmooze the people who will decide his fate.
Gen has broken all the rules, and she could very well end up with a broken heart.
She needs a stiff drink, and it had better be hard liquor.
Hard Liquor is the exciting conclusion to the Arthur Duet that begins with Stiff Drink.

Runaway Billionaires: Arthur Duet, Book 2
By: Blair Babylon
Narrated by: John Lane
Length: 9 hrs and 49 mins
Omg, this book blew my socks off!! It made me cry so many times & only Tryp has accomplished that before, wow!! You get to see the ‘true’ heart of Arthur in this book. His loyalty to his Crown & Country, above even himself, puts your heart through the ringer … you’ve been warned.
Gen & Arthur pull ever closer, it’s become clear it is the real deal for them both. He opens himself up to her like he’s never done with anyone before, it’s beautiful!! Gen finally learns to trust that he’s being genuine with her heart so once she’s all in, its on like donkey Kong. She makes two very important calls in utter fear & desperation!
Casimir & Maxence are true brothers to Arthur throughout this book, They have his back, even in his goodbyes! Gen is heroic in fighting for him & her two besties step up for her, thankfully. But when the time comes for Arthur to willingly face his ‘Masters’, Well, she might just have met the floor!
Blair absolutely killed it with this book. She took Arthur, Gen & their story to levels I didn’t anticipate. The courtroom drama in the Lord’s was fantastic, it was true ‘edge of the seat’ nail biting tension. The twists, turns & holes that had been dug, Well, I had no clue how the Author could possibly rescue our Hero from them!!
I’ve read the E-book of this Duet too so I can, in all confidence, say that the Audio Narrator did an excellent job of all of the characters, but his ‘Arthur’ was outstanding!! He did an amazing job of ramping up the drama, romance, steam or heart break, as needed!! I was extremely impressed throughout!
Christopher Finch-Hatton is a jealous, loathsome little bug! I can’t stand Elizabeth either!! I just needed to get that off of my chest!
Go ahead, lose yourself in these Runaway Billionaires. They’re so worth it & much more than they show the world on the surface!!

Part two of Arthur’s story had me hooked from the start and had a perfect ending. The plot was suspenseful with some twists that I did not see coming. I liked the return of characters from previous books even if they were brief appearances ,making the other stories somewhat connect even if the events in the stories were very different. I liked the ending that Arthur and Gen got and was sorry that the book had to end. I would recommend this book to others
Oh my goodness! This is the way to finish this duo with a bang! So many twists and turns and just when we think it is going one way this author takes it another direction. Arthur is being charged with treason now in an attempt to wrangle his Earldom away from him but that is so far from the truth and he doesn’t want Gen to fight the battle until there is a reason to fight. Oh, and Casim and Maxense come along for the ride. Great narrator.
Audio Review: Hard Liquor (Runaway Billionaires: Arthur Duet, Book 2) by Blair Babylon (Author), John Lane (Narrator)
Prepare to be seduced by a dashing drink of water with a sexy accent and a bad boy reputation. Arthur and Gen find themselves caught up in a romance as tempting as it is dangerous. Babylon teases the senses with forbidden love and sparks the brain with a intriguing twist. Step into a world where nothing is as it seems and love can be only a heartache away. Sexy, captivating and unpredictable.
5 star Review Hard Liquor (Runaway Billionaires #2: Arthur Duet #2) by Blair Babylon
AUDIO REVIEW:
The conclusion to the Arthur Duet so if you haven’t read or listened to Stiff Drink then STOP and do so before you continue with Hard Liquor.
Having read/listened to a couple of books by Blair Babylon I enjoy her style of writing. Her characters are quirky and easy to relate too. Narrator John Lane, certainly brought Hard Liquor to life for me and had me swooning on various occasions. His voice was spot on in my opinion for Arthur Finch-Hatten and I enjoyed the variety of voices he used for the multiple characters, even the female ones.
Having listened to Stiff Drink I have been anxiously awaiting the conclusion to this duet and I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed the pairing of Genevieve(Gen) and Arthur and it was great to see some familiar characters pop up within the story.
Will Gen loose everything she has worked so hard for as she continues to become more and more involved with Arthur, or will the stress break them up? Will Arthur realize in time what he is giving up for the love of his country?
Hard Liquor is a well written, witty, suspenseful, romantic and at times steamy book that was an entertaining listen and I was totally invested from the first to the last chapter.
This is the conclusion of Arthur and Gen’s story. It’s quite a ride. Not only did it keep me totally engaged the first time I read it the second time was even better. I love how Arthur helps Gen find her inner fierceness. I loved how Gen gave Arthur he so desperately needed. Most of all I loved the fact that they loved each other for more than their looks. So many stories concentrate on how good looking the characters are. Arthur, Cashmir, Wulf etc are all really good looking but there is more to them than their looks. The women they love are more than their appearance. It’s refreshing to have a romance novel protray that love is more than sexual attraction. Of course the sex scenes are awesome but the story rocks too. I literally read everything Blair has written in a month. Her books are just that good.
I loved the Arthur duet. I’ve read and re-read this series. Always a treat.
This is the third book in the Runaway Billionaires but the second involving the situation with Arthur and Gen. I fell in love with how raw and visible Arthur, who was raised to be a stuffy earl, becomes the more involved he is with Gen. It was a meeting of the minds and the powers, not only in the courtroom but in the home. It kept me on the edge of my seat as I wondered how she was going to get Arthur out of his difficult situation and get him or anyone else out alive. As things come closer to her losing him, the discover how deeply invested they are in each other.
The sex scenes were hot and steamy and over the edge. The BDSM didn’t just show how Gen’s walls around her heart were broken down but those around Arthur’s were demolished too. I think this was a necessity in order to take them to a place where they trusted each other in so many ways. That trust was something they needed in order to get them both through this alive. In the end, they became quite the force to reckon with.
I was drawn so deeply into this story as I was into the first one and, honestly, every story the author writes. I feel invested from the moment I meet the characters. Yes, the stories are harsh, and the major characters are privileged. But, the lines a blurred at a time when they need to be in order for these people to find any real joy in their lives. I can only hope the next one is about Maxence, and that it comes out soon.
Blair is an awesome writer. Her books make it so you can’t put them down without reading the entire story in one sitting. Arthur and Gen struggle and will keep you on the edge of your seat in this book.
Loved this conclusion to Arthur’s story. It had me laughing, crying, cheering and fanning myself depending on where I was in the story. As with the first book in the series, once I started reading I didn’t want to put the book down. As with Blair’s other stories, it is well thought out, well edited, story line makes sense and moves along at a nice pace. She gives enough details to pull you into the story and develop strong feelings about the characters – some you really like and some you really don’t. I love the strong female character, Gen, who stands by her convictions and won’t give up on what and in whom she believes. Is the road easy? Absolutely not. Is it worth it in the end? You’ll have to read to find out. Let’s just say I wasn’t disappointed. I was gifted with a copy of this story and am voluntarily leaving a review. I have read most of Blair’s stories and have read most more than once…that’s how much I enjoy her style of writing.

As with the previous books in this series, I absolutely loved this story. We get the finale. This book takes us into their battle for Arthur’s Earldom.
Gen also begins to trust Arthur more in all things including the bedroom.
It’s up to Gen to save her man can she do it?
Sexy, Hot, and Exciting read !! Can’t wait to see who is next.
Edited 3/16/20 to add my comments on the audiobook:

OMG this audiobook is sooo goood!
Hard Liquor is the second book of the Arthur Duet and you really need to read book one, Stiff Drink, first to understand what is going on with Hard Liquor. Just like Stiff Drink, John Lane’s voice and accents that he used for the characters in this story were freaking fantastic.
As for the story itself, I originally read and reviewed it back in May of 2017 and I loved it so much. Now, John Lane’s performance of the audiobook brought the story to life once again and made me love it even more.
Below is a copy of my original review from back in May 2017:
OMG – this is hot and suspenseful and wonderful!!
Hard Liquor is the conclusion to Stiff Drink and what fantastic stories they both are!
In Hard Liquor Blair Babylon managed to keep me on the edge of my seat throughout nearly the entire book. I’m really not sure I know how to review this without giving anything away – which I won’t do. At times it seems like there is no hope at all – for Gen and Arthur’s relationship, for Arthur to win the lawsuit his brother has brought against him, for Gen to gain the offer for tenancy she so desperately needs to pay for her mother’s care.
Blair Babylon has once again managed to craft a story that has very funny moments, heart-breaking sad moments and an HEA that I was sure couldn’t happen (except that I know Blair always manages to give us one – eventually).
For those who love a story with lots of detail and complicated characters, Hard Liquor is just that; it is definitely not a quick read. It is, however, a very satisfying and wonderful conclusion to Arthur and Gen’s story. I’d also better mention that it is also H-O-T, hot!!! The sexy time between Arthur (he’s a bit kinky) and Gen may make you blush!
Blair Babylon will never be able to write fast enough to satisfy my thirst for new books by her. It’s a good thing there are other great indie authors out there to help keep me occupied until the next one is ready.
A Review of Hard Liquor (Runaway Billionaires: Arthur Duet, Book #2) by Blair Babylon
The end of Earl of Givesnofu**s? – 5+++++ stars
Blair Babylon has done it again! She gave us characters that we fell in love with, flaws and all, then takes us on a roller coaster ride with so many twists and turns that you are literally sitting on the edge of your seat for most of the book. This book picks up where the first half left off. Arrggghhh, there are SOOOOO many things I want to talk about, but I can’t give away all the spoilers and ruin it for others. You REALLY need to get this book as soon as you can and read it to finish up Arthur’s story. I can tell you this, I used almost an entire box of tissues during several sections of this book. The love that Arthur has found for Gen is one of those once in a lifetime loves that makes you hurt when one of them hurts. I had a strong idea of what was going on with him early on, but I never expected the betrayal that comes out. If you haven’t read the first book yet, make sure you pick it up as well and start with it. As much as I don’t like cliffhangers as a rule, Ms. Blair knows how to write a storyline that will make you soooo invested in what is going on that you can’t help but love ALL of her characters.

When you find your heart completely lost to a tumultuously stunning plot whose characters intertwine and ignite a firestorm that razes and implodes your very world, you KNOW you have found an epically talented author who owns every ounce of your reading devotion to the end of time. Hard Liquor is utter perfection with its sizzling mystery, undeniable passion, and mind-blowing twists that catapult it into the realm of fantastically, true bliss. This is romantic suspense at its absolute finest! If you are looking for a refined yet genre-blasting story that will feed your intelligence along with your heart, then you have found the object of your obsession. Blair Babylon will feed your passion and set your imagination alight with her limitless possibilities and awe-inspiring imagination.
On one side of a gaping, bottomless chasm, we have a woman who has learned to claw and sweat for every single inch of ground that she has gained to rise from the bottom of her mountain. She knows better than most the value of hard work and the wonder and satisfaction of earning each milestone that she has risen above. She is heading up the ladder of her aspirations, and nothing and no one will slow her down or stop her. On the opposite side, we have a man who lives life on the edge of society while charming everyone to stay in their good graces. His life appears to be charmed, but he is forced to even relinquish even a small amount of control to another, he is forced to see that not everyone is as simple as he once thought. Complexity is just a swirl of shadow and misdirection that swallows up the simple as seen by the mindless masses, but all it takes is one person to clear the mist that hides the very essence of a broken and lovely soul. Can love truly conquer the endless darkness between these two, or will the strict rules of life be the end of all that we have only just begun to see and understand?
If any good advice exists, it would be to allow your heart to lead. Even as contrite as that might sound, it will not allow you to disappear in the dark shadows never to be seen from again. It will dare to pull you from your bed of quicksand and put your feet on solid ground. Our fantastic characters found this out the hard way. They were forced to trust blindly in the other especially against their better judgment. The courage and strength that they possessed is a true inspiration to the chaos and anger that swirls around us every day. Staying true to yourself will be the greatest test and accomplishment that you will ever achieve in your lifetime. Don’t underestimate those around you, and don’t let them fall away into despair. Grab their hand and pull them back to reason and hope before it’s too late.
Blair Babylon is a testament to the extraordinary beauty, grace, and talent that is quickly fading around us. More than anything, we long to experience the pure and living creation that is well written and heart imbued hope in the form of words breathed into the universe that will eventually find its way in our very soul. Readers can breathe a sigh of contentment and relief to ingest and savor the incredibly soul nourishing and heart transforming words from this spectacular author. I have yet to read anything from her that doesn’t touch me deeply and sincerely every time I pick up one of her breathtaking masterpieces.
Audiobook review. The final half of Arthur and Gen’s story. It has been awhile since I read these books, I had forgotten the excellent story line and the steam, well, bring a fan or some ice for this listen. John Lane does an outstanding narration. The twists and turns, romance, drama and intrigue make this audio entertainment at it’s finest. I recommend starting with “Stiff Drink”, the first half of this duet before this listen. Awesome!
Second in this story line. Throughly enjoyed and I wondered how it could possibly work. There is suspense, romance and a good amount of steam. As always, Ms. Babylon does not disappoint. Well worth the time spent. I would however start with the first book “Stiff Drink”.
This is the second book in Author’s story. All I can say is …OMG!! I had no idea how Gen was going to be able to help him. I love that we got to see familiar faces and places. I really enjoyed this story! Don’t want to say too much and ruin it for anyone, but know this…it’s a must read!!! Now I want to know about MAX!!!
OMG this book!
I can see why Arthur had to be split in to two books with how long his story is and what a story it is.
If you read Stiff Drink then you already know a lot of the characters, if you didn’t then do NOT read this yet since that is very crucial to the story.
We were last left with Arthur receiving a cryptic phone call and him jetting off to yet another country while Gen tries to help him save everything he has. The secret life that Arthur lives finally gets revealed due to the wrong people getting information about him. This obviously puts his life in the court room and out in turmoil and we finally get to know how everything all works out.
Book 2 helps to break down the wall of who Arthur really is and definitely empowers Gen his barrister.
I can’t wait for her new books. Always a great read!
