Down-on-her-luck teacher, Daisy Clemmens, is about to learn some hard lessons. (Not like that, you perv.)Lesson OneNo matter how broke you are, never agree to a job that includes a rabid eight-year-old, requires a tetanus shot or where your boss is a sexy (and cranky) rock ‘n’ roll god.Lesson TwoDo not, do not start to have tender, gooey feelings for the sexy commitment-phobe rock ‘n’ roll god. … commitment-phobe rock ‘n’ roll god. You’ll only get hurt.
Lesson Three
Okay so you’ve slept with the sexy rock ‘n’ roll god. But it’s not too late. Just whatever you do, don’t fall in love. Whoops. Too late.
Lesson Four
Never love someone, even if they are a sexy rock ‘n’ roll god, more than yourself.

Rock royalty with a propensity for extravagant displays Billy Wanks lead singer of Wanks and Jett defies the status quo on a daily basis. Desperation brings unemployed teacher Daisy Clemmens to apply for a nanny job on a rock tour for a motherless eight year old. When Billy meets Daisy opposites attract and love finds a way to win the day even when their heads fight the pulling of their hearts.
Fun, sexy and a whole lot of rock’n’roll Charlotte West’s Hard Lessons has it all and readers are going to love every minute of it! Book Two in her Wild Minds series, a prequel to book one, relates the bumpy road to love traveled by characters Billy Wanks and Daisy Clemmens. Endearingly over the top Billy personified the rock star lifestyle and made for a brilliantly flawed hero. Daisy brought just the right amount of grounding accompanied with a touch of dramatic for sparks to fly and make this story interesting and full of warm fuzzies. This pairing took over the pages with ease as superficial interactions soon became full of depth and commanded a respect for their one of a kind love. Charlotte West shows a great strength in her ability to bring humor, even in the most sensitive situations, without detracting from the emotions she is trying to convey, whether they are light or dark. Hard Lessons is an easy A!
*While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone.*
Edging toward 4.5/5. Really nice story about a hardened rocker falling for the very patient nanny. Well edited.
Billy found he had a daughter four years after she was born and after her mother died. Suddenly responsible for a child, he goes through several nannies before Daisy is recommended for the job. Although she has her masters degree and really wants a classroom teaching position, the jobs just aren’t opening and Daisy is feeling a little desperate. Student loans need to be paid after all. So, Daisy agrees to interview for the job and finds herself interviewing with an entire rock band. Surprise. Daisy lands the job and begins a job that will change her life. She falls rather quickly for little Addy. And, as the years go by, Daisy finds herself falling for Billy too. Billy slowly finds himself depending on Daisy more and more. She is more than just a nanny. Now, she is also the unofficial manager of all personal assistants, and road crew, and just about everything else dealing with Billy’s life. Will Billy ever wake up and realize that he has fallen for Daisy? Will Daisy allow herself to love a man who see commitment as a bad thing?
I read Good Lies first, and looked forward to reading Billy and Daisy’s story. I was not disappointed. Billy was just as difficult in this one as in Good Lies. Daisy was just as loving and steadfast. It was fun to get a deeper look at Addy’s childhood. Nice writing style – nice flow from beginning to end. Enjoy.
