After fighting in the war for 12 years, Alec “A-Train” Jacob returns to the United States to find out while he was away, things changed drastically at home. In an effort to find peace of mind – and hopefully a new beginning – he rides his motorcycle from Wichita, Kansas to Austin, Texas.
Filled with a desire to continue to protect those who he sees as a victim, he’s always quick to step in and … step in and assist anyone in need. Through a newfound friend, he meets a woman who was the victim of as random act of violence. Initially, he hopes for nothing in return but the satisfaction of helping her.
Katie “Bug” Ripton is attempting to quietly recover from being the victim of an assault. When she meets Alec, she sees a man who is kind, considerate, and not only capable of comforting her, but willing to protect her from harm.
Apart, their lives are empty and seem to be haunted by the memories of their pasts.
Together, their pasts disappear, and a future begins to unfold.
A future every girl dreams of obtaining, but few ever do.

A-Train & Katie
This book is more about Alec “A-Train” Jacobs, I was excited to read his & Katie’s story as I got intrigued with them. However, this is more about A-Train’s backstory and his life in the real world and his struggles.
Alec, is too good to be true, he may have flaws but he is still too good to be true Katie is one lucky bitch
I miss the Sinners here and their interactions..
This is an okay book, I just had a different expectations not really a fan on how the series ended.
I said this before and I’ll say it again, Scott Hildreth is AMAZING. There has not been one book that I have had the pleasure of devouring of his that I have not loved. He has the ability to draw you in from the beginning, hold you captivated, giving some sort of life lesson, and leave you smiling in the end.
This is Alec “A-Train” Jacob’s story. Alec’s unwavering commitment and loyalty to his service as Marine and keeping true to who he was outstanding. His world was rocked not only by this duties in the Marines but by his wife and her betrayal; but he did not let it hinder his entire being. He moves on being who he is and doing what he loves.
The relationship between Alec and Katie was a beautiful intensity. Katie went through a lot but still had a fiery spirt. With Alec’s understanding, patience, and protective nature made them simply perfect.
This was a beautiful story about perseverance, family, devotion, honor, and unconditional friendship. I absolutely loved this book. Well done Mr. Hildreth.
I have really enjoyed this series! In this one it’s A-Train’s turn. If you have read the other books in this series you may remember him and his brothers from Taking the Heat. In this book you get to read the lead up to that moment in that book. We get to know more about Alec, his time in active service as a Marine. He truly is a man of honour, integrity. And his brothers and their families are everything. Not going to lie, this one made me cry too, on more than one occasion!! The build up with Katie after all they have been through is truly heart warming.
Scott Hildreth hit it out of the park with HARD CORPS! A-Train’s story has been one many readers have been begging for, and Scott more than delivered.
While it is not a war story, war is a large part of the main character’s life. Scott kept these scenes unbelievably authentic . . . so much so that it had me reliving my own spouse’s deployment right along with Alec Jacob.
Even though Alec sees the world in black and white, there is incredible depth to his character. He is the ultimate marine, brother, son, uncle, boyfriend and protector to all those he loves. It is also a pleasure to watch his relationship with Katie develop.
While it is not necessary to read any of the previous Selected Sinners books to enjoy Hard Corps, Scott does a great job of bring back many of our favorite characters from his Baby Girl, Undefeated and Selected Sinners books as they are all a part of A-Train’s life.
A definite must read!
One of my favorites by this author. H and story will stay with you long after the last page.
The ride on the A-Train was magnificent. A beautiful love story, a look inside the mind of a man to whom commitment and honor were not just words but a way of life. Thank you Mr. Hildreth I think this is now my favorite of your books and after Ex-Con that is saying a lot….
