A man of few words, Ranger Jay Daniels values the calm, quiet solitude of the Great Smoky Mountains. Never quite fitting in with either side of his family, he prefers the company of birds and trees to people.Yeah, he’d most definitely prefer a bird—any bird, any bird at all, take a vulture for instance—to the human-tornado hybrid that just blew onto his peaceful stretch of the Appalachian Trail.… Appalachian Trail.
The path of true love never has run smooth for Olive Perry. After getting dumped and promptly abandoned in the middle of her multi-month hike, Olive swears off men. Determined to finish the long trek by herself, she doesn’t need a prince—or broody and taciturn ranger—to save her.
Yet, when an early snowstorm threatens the mountains, and Ranger Daniels is charged with getting hikers to safety, that includes hot-tempered Olive Perry. Snowed in and forced to share an abandoned cabin, can Olive’s heated intensity melt Jay’s cool reserve?
And if so, will this happy trail lead to true love? Or will their time together be just another bump in the road?
‘Happy Trail’ is a full-length contemporary romantic comedy, can be read as a standalone, and is book#1 in the Park Ranger series.

A pleasure to read!
Really liked the storyline…thought it was sweet, a little snarky in places, and just enough romance. Highly recommend this book!!
Hiking the Appalachian Trail is a unique approach for a romance novel and Daisy Prescott does it well. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Loved it
I loved this book! Good writing, wonderful characters, and an original idea. Through the first half I wondered about all the detail of the female character’s hiking experiences, but in the last half I realized it was needed to understand how the 2 main characters came together.
Never read month long trail hiking story before and I enjoyed a lot, except Japanese culture information.
Cooking chicken feet/legs to the guest is out of question.
A few more questionable way to use Japanese words.
It’s only a romance book and not an academic report, but since main character is Japanese American and part of background of his personality, shouldn’t mixup with Chinese/other Asian culture.
Loved this book! It was a fun read. Now I want to hike the AT – lol. Can’t wait to read more by the author.
Snowbirds’s journey along the AT made for great reading. I hope to read many more stories from Daisy Prescott and Smartypants Romance.
The characters were very engaging. I had trouble putting it down.
I truly loved every minute of this story!!! Such a fun read from beginning to end.
Best book I’ve read in a long time! Really enjoyed it and I’m recommending it to my book club.
I loved this book. It had enough sexual tension to be realistic and a beautiful description of hiking on The Trail to help us imagine the scenes. It had its sense of finishing what you start as a moral in a couple of instances.
I liked it but thought the relationship was rushed.
I’ve never read anything from this author but the book blurb sounded interesting. I’m so glad I decided to download this book. It’s a great romance, with a HEA ending, containing real characters dealing with difficult situations with determination, witty banter and love. I highly recommend this book!
While this is a fiction story it supplies some interesting information about being a thru- hiker on the AT. I thought the characters were very nicely developed and realistic. good story.
Loved the book , kept me interested through the whole story!
A great entertaining-funny read. Easy and relaxing. I smiled the whole way through
Happy Trail is one of the Smartypants romances set in Tennessee. I’m drawn to stories about Appalachia so this being a HEA romance set on the Appalachia Trail and Smokey Mountain National Park called to me and I enjoyed the connection to Green Valley characters. Daisy Prescott crafted an charming tale of a pampered woman proving her independence and self-assurance after the breakup of a fluffy romantic relationship when she connects with a national park ranger in a storm. Her maturing and his refining develop into a relationship they each question, but the reader doesn’t. Not too frustrating to watch them dance around acceptance of it, but the way they finally commit is terrific.
I really liked this book! It was very cute, and the author had a lot of knowledge about the subject of the AT and hiking to the point it made me feel that the author herself, or someone very close to her, probably hiked it. I definitely recommend it!
It was a fun read and if you have ever hiked on the AT you can relate.
