10 Resolutions. 2 Friends. 1 Shot At Love
I’ll admit, having nine New Year’s resolutions makes me twitchy. After all, I’m Allison Gottlieb; overthinker, overachiever, hot mess extraordinaire. I’ve spent my entire life trying to be the best but for some reason, I’ve always fallen short. When a near meltdown (and maybe too much champagne) lands me in front of an old friend, things finally start … finally start looking up.
If Mateo Ramirez, personal trainer, self-discipline junkie, and the Internet’s favorite smoothie-making underwear model, offers to help you, you say yes. We haven’t seen each other in years but if anyone can help me turn my life around, it’s him. His smokin’ hot body is cold, hard proof of that.
Don’t judge me; I’m a lawyer. I like proof. A lot.
Mateo promises to test my limits and help me face my fears. He’s even feeding my neurosis by giving me that wonderfully even-numbered tenth resolution. But what I don’t know is that, in the midst of helping me check each item off my agenda, he has some resolutions of his own. And they all lead to one thing: becoming more than friends.
Eleven romantic comedy authors have teamed up to bring you Happy New You, a sexy, funny, heartwarming story about friendship, perseverance, and finding love in this crazy thing we call life. Oh, and the magic of onesie pajamas.

I love it when you have a book that are collaborated by different authors yet you still get a well rounded story that just continues to flow through chapter after chapter and that is what you get with this book. We have a romance of Matteo and Allison and it was lovely so grab a copy and Enjoy!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What a unique concept. This book was seamless. I loved it. The story flowed and consistently held my attention.
What I really liked about this story is that it brought a attention to real problems that women face in today’s society. Where do you draw the line to get a head? How do you draw the line and who can you really trust?
Allison was a real women with real problems. She was driven to consistently be on guard and on top of her game. However, she couldn’t see the forest for the trees.
Mateo was the best friend she let slip away for years. He was trying to bring the real Allison back to herself. Allison couldn’t seem to get out of her own way.
This story brings a lot to the table. You’ll laugh, smile, swoon, and maybe even tear up. Don’t worry it brings the heat. It’s everything you’re looking for in a love story with even a little bit more. One of the things I love best in this book is the diversity of the characters and how it all meshes together so well. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that it was written by 11 different authors. Don’t know how they did it. I’m just happy they did. I read this book in one sitting. It was that good!
This was a book I did not know how it would work but it does just fine there is a lot of new Authors to me in this story. I found myself smiling with this story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this friends-to-lovers tale of a New Year’s resolution of trying to better one’s self. I saw a bit of myself in Allison: too busy to go out and have any kind of social life. Allison only wants to change her life because of her job. Matteo can not only help Allison, but gets to be around his long-time crush at the same time. Both Allison and Matteo were highly ambitious with their given careers, and highly motivated. I really liked that adding more to one’s life can make a life more rounded and rewarding.
I love how all of these wonderful authors came together and crafted a fantastic book. It speaks to the incredible talent that these authors possess, that they were each able to write a couple of chapters a piece, which together translated into a seamless book for their audience. Well done ladies!
Al and Matty we’re awesome!! I love their friendship and his unwavering love for her!
I feel in love with the writing in this story. I don’t know who wrote what, but I know I found some new to me authors!
Absolutely fantastic!
Amazing and beautiful
Allison is at a new years eve party when she overhears her boss tell a client what he really thinks of her and things kind of take off from that moment on. Mateo is at the same party trying to get his dream funded only to be dissapointed yet again. Mateo and Allison have always been friends, but have unknowingly put one another in the friend zone even though they both want more. In a funk Allison decides to start her new year with some resolutions to become a better her. With Mateo’s unwavering support they start their journey together as friends secretly wanting more. Though trials and tribulations they stick it out, but old habits die hard and Allison has a hard time putting her foot down at work and taking time for herself and her fledgling relationship. So what is Mateo to do when he feels he is the only one putting forth an effort and that their relationship is a little too one sided? He makes a decision and decides what is best for him and his heart. Will Allison realize she needs to change before it’s too late or will she continue to be stuck in her current predicament? These two fight hard to earn what they want and truly need. It was an amazingly heartfelt story and the authors did an amazing job putting it together!
11 talented and amazing author leads to 1 epic romance! These authors got together and seamlessly helped write this story as one. I would swear one author wrote this but nope 11 authors, 1 story!!!This book gives a fabulous kick off to a new year!
Allison and Mateo- oh my!! Theirs is a very good and steamy read. Allison is a workaholic who’s career has taken over her life. Her personality however is not the cold and icy one that one would expect. Instead she’s this funny, lively, sassy woman who is hidden behind her business clothing. Now Mateo- he is so different from her! Mateo is completely opposite from Allison. While driven, his passion is less than being perfect and is more about helping everyone. He’s this sexy personal trainer who has this heart of gold who also happens to be this be ” super teddy bear” when it comes only to Allison.
A chance meeting at a New Years Eve party put them back into each other’s lives. After they ditched the party and spend time catching up with each other, Mateo promises to help Allison achieve her New Years resolutions she sets out for herself.
But will Mateo get what he truly seeks ? Will Allison finally admit what she secretly has wanted always? This is a sweet and cute 2nd chance at love romance that will have the reader hooked from the start.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
11 authors came together to create 1 amazingly heartfelt story, that has just the right amount of romance and comedic relief! How they pulled it off, I’ll never know. But they did an amazing job writing Al & Matty’s story! I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves strong, sassy women…and the men that won’t give up in them…no matter how stubborn she may be.
A fun, flirty collaboration that is a friends to lovers/second chance at love gem!
Allison is a workaholic attorney who thinks that killing her self for her job will get her everything she wants – a partnership.
Mateo has chosen his dream over law school.
They reconnect on a magical New Year that leads to resolutions on both sides – an HEA that’s a perfect wrap to the holiday season! You’ll love Matty and Al as they struggle with feelings, expectations, and epiphanies on their way to falling in love.
11 authors, 10 Resolutions. 2 Friends. 1 Shot At Love.
What a fun read. 11 great authors put their words together for Happy New Year. The book reads so seamlessly, that you don’t realize it’s being written by multiple authors. Friends from the past who help you through your present should be considered for your future, right?
I received an ARC from the authors and I am happy to give my honest review.
Happy New You stars Allison and Mateo, childhood friends who reconnect at a New Years Eve party. Allison is a workaholic lawyer who aspires to make partner at her firm but overhears her boss talking negatively about her. She decides to make nine resolutions to help her become more likely to get a promotion.
Mateo is a fitness guru on Instagram and does personal training. He aspires to open his own gym and desperately needs investors. He has been in love with Allison since they were in high school and decides helping her with her resolutions will get them close together again. He even adds in his own resolution without her knowing.
There were a few things I liked about this book as well as a few things I didn’t. I liked Mateo a lot. He was grounded and realistic and knew what he wanted from life. I wasn’t a huge fan of Allison, mostly because it was too close of a reminder of myself professionally. She worked hard at her career with a single minded focus which didn’t leave any room for socializing. That is basically me in a nutshell. I didn’t agree with her decisions to put work before her relationship or the way she treated Mateo when she got embarrassed at her office.
In the end I liked them together. Allison grew a lot and became the woman who could support Mateo. She found her priorities and the means to accomplish them.
One of my favorite quotes from Mateo: “You’re enough. Just the way you are. And you don’t ever have to apologize for the woman you are.”
I absolutely loved Allison and Mateo’s story! I really found it to be relatable. Oftentimes we get sucked into the day to day tasks of life and forget to have fun and enjoy life. This book was a beautiful reminder to stop and enjoy life, live each day to the fullest and never take anything for granted. Allison works to much and has very little time for anything outside of the office. However, recent events have shown her that she needs to make some changes. Who better to help her with those changes, then her best guy friend Mateo! Who happens to be ridiculously handsome and a personal trainer who can help her accomplish all of her new years resolutions. It sounds simple enough, but life is rarely ever simple and sometimes fate has other plans for you. Falling in love, wasn’t Allison’s goal but it was beautiful watching their relationship grow, change and evolve throughout this book. I highly recommend this book!
Great story about childhood friends reconnecting on New Year’s Eve and a New Year means a fresh start for a new you.
A great friends to lovers romance a new years to remember this is about Allison and Mateo rekindling a friendship after Allison overhears a conversation about her she drinks and Mateo finds for a bit tipsy at a party Allison being driven and hard-working comes up with 9 resolutions for the new year and asks Mateo for help Mateo secretly in love with Allison agrees but he writes down a tenth resolution and hands it to her telling her to open it at the end of the year this is a journey on self-reflection and building more than a work relationship for Allison . Mateo hoping that their romance will be kindled and continue on throughout the years.
This was a great feel good story about true second chances and friends to lovers! So sweet and hopeful, Al and Matty’s story was super heartfelt, with plenty of ups and downs and real life twists turns and hang ups to keep you guessing how they are going to figure their crap out! I love their journey of discovery and love for each other while also learning a lot about themselves. Really gives you all the feels and leaves you with a smile on your face. Speaking of a smile on your face, I love how the authors didn’t shy away from sex, but also kept it tame enough you wouldn’t mind recommending to a friend or laid back family member. The scenes weren’t clean, but that part wasn’t too huge or descriptive. Their banter was really fun and charming. Just a really great story and I hope we see more collaborations with multiple authors like this!
Great Friends to Lovers Romance!
What a Great Book!
The 11 authors did a fantastic job making the story flow smoothly!
It was a sweet, funny, sexy story of two friends who reconnect after years apart. I loved Marty and Allison’s story! They were perfect for each other! I couldn’t imagine a better ending!
If you like a sweet, sexy friends to lovers romance you’ll love Happy New You! I did!
4.5 !
I loved the premise of the book and I am a total sucker for Friends to Lovers as a troupe.
I am shocked that so many authors collaborated together for this book. It did not feel choppy at all. The book flowed nicely together. I loved seeing things from both Mateo and Allison’s POV. Loved that the chapters were actually by months. Watching Allison attack her resolutions through the months was fun to see.
There was a few moments where I was laughing out loud during the book, and I always love a book that can make me laugh with the characters.
After reading this book, I will be checking out some more of these authors that are new to me.
Fabulous friends-to-lovers romance!
Workaholic lawyer Allison reconnects with fitness guru Mateo on New Year’s Eve, who helps her draft a list of resolutions and agrees to help hold her accountable for achieving them. Matty’s always held a soft flame in his heart for Al, but he’s smart enough to know that she’s got to figure out her own priorities first.
This is a terrific romance, full of emotional depth and heartwarming moments. The most amazing part just might be that not once did it ever seem like there were multiple authors on this project, much less nearly a dozen. The continuity and character arcs are cohesive throughout, something not always found even with single-author books.
It’s a steaming hot romance, wonderful story of friendship, and a stunning journey of personal growth and fantasy fulfillment. It’s my favorite book of the new year. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
