This story pulled me in from the beginning. It is beautifully written. A true tale of second chances, betrayal, and secrets. With a whimsical tone, I got swept up in the story and transported to a different world.
Brittany Holland’s writing is poetic and meaningful as she takes you on a journey where her characters overcome pain and work to find the love they still carry in their hearts.
I cannot recommend this book enough. The story was emotional, with glimpses of the past, and mystery that keeps you turning the pages to find out more.
This modern day spin of a classic fairy tail was written like poetry. I ached and cheered for their love story. Brittany Holland knows how to tell a story! I will forever be a fan of her writing.
It was truly a modern day fairy tale love story and definitely came from a direction I didn’t expect. The more it unfolded, the more my heart ached for Willow and Piers. There were moments I wanted to shake them both and tell them everything was going to be okay if they’d just talk to each other and listen to each other. All of the background situations made such a huge impact on what happened between them and what was continuing to build between them. I love the way he lured her back to where it all began. The friction between them and the underlying interference was so difficult to read. And that ending was perfection.
It was beautiful and magical, and I could see why it took her so long to write it. This story was poignant and shows exactly what it takes to write a love story for the ages.
A beautiful, whimsical love story that touched my heart and appealed to my inner child’s joy. The unique writing style coupled with a glorious interweaving of Peter Pan made for a memorable story indeed!
I liked this book a lot. I felt connected to the characters and the book was very easy to read. The plot was amazing and there were so many different layers. It totally reminded me of an onion. Peeling through every layer, something else was added to make the story better and as we continued peeling layers of the story, it finally got done to the heart of everything. Things were slowly revealed to us, the readers, but it wasn’t too slow. It was perfect. Due to enjoying this book so much, I definitely plan on purchasing more of Brittan Holland’s books in hopes of reading more stories like this one.
Beautiful! This is my first time reading this author but it won’t be my last! This was such a beautiful second chance romances. I loved that from the first page I was entranced by Willow and Piers’ relationship. They’re were a lot of misunderstandings and antagonists trying to keep them apart but the love they had for each other was strong. My favorite part of reading is being sucked into a story and escaping and this was that kind of story. I can’t wait to read the next the next story!
Brittany knocked it out of the park again! Willow and Piers were an amazing couple and had that love that was real but hard at times. They definitely had their ups and downs but it led to an awesome ending (which you’ll have to buy and read the book to find out what 😉 Brittany had many surprises all the way through that kept you engaged and on edge. It also had a love triangle that not all three sides knew about. LOL. I love how personal the book was and that extra touch really made it easy to connect. It really was written so that you could connect on a deeper level. I loved reading this book and cannot wait for the next one!
Brittany it was another amazing book and I am so happy to have been able to read it!
This beautifully written love story had me hooked from the dedication. Willow and Piers have a love like no other. It’s too bad the people around them tore them apart. Years later they are forced to reunite, but it is also a blessing that will save them both from a lifetime of heartache and loneliness. All the shocking surprises along the way keep you pulled-in and you won’t be able to put it down, except to reach for a tissue. Thank you, Brittany Holland, for allowing me to be part of your world, book by book.
5 years. It had been 5 years but it felt like yesterday. So much time passed but not nearly enough. Their love was special different and destroyed by so many lies and jealousy. Hurt by those that were supposed to protect. Forgiveness. Yeah so eacy to talk about but not so easy to put in place. I love these two, all proper and thangs. They do have a link and it may be what destroys them or strengthened them.
I love discovering new authors and this author has surely placed herself in my heart. I love her style and her characters. Just enough emotional stuff to get me worked up and then put me back together. This book read like a fairy tale and not in a bad way, it’s every woman’s dream come true and it was well done.
A beautifully written love story. Piers and Willow were BFFs as young children, they even had a blood pact proving this, yet as they grew up life happened, misunderstandings happen and they drift apart. For 5 years they were separated, living on 2 different continents and kept apart by secrets. Willow left Piers after they had spent one night together in their secret garden. She left him for the United States and started a new life, she believed she was protecting him by leaving. Piers was in England still were he grew up and he was lost after Willow left.
Piers showed up on Willow’s door 5 years after she left. He was there to deliver legal information regarding her aunt’s will. When he shows up he sees the secret she was hiding from him. Piers gets Willow to come back to England to settle her aunt’s estate and he has hopes that once he gets her there she will stay and not leave him again. He wants her to be his family since he grew up without one.
I was happy that neither Piers nor Willow held the past against each other. They still wanted each other and didn’t really deny the fact. Outside forces tried to keep them apart but they didn’t let them take over. I was not a fan of Scarlett, who is a child hood friend of Piers. She tried very hard to keep Piers to herself and didn’t want Willow back in the picture. She also grew up with Piers because she didn’t have family either and sees Piers as hers and she doesn’t want to lose or share him. When Piers confronts Scarlett about Willow and Scarlett realizes what she is about to lose you start to realize that maybe she isn’t a bad person but a very scared person. I can’t wait to read her story and their other friend Theo (Teddy). The notes that Willow and Piers receive are beautifully written and brought tears to my eyes.
This was a beautiful story about childhood best friends turned lovers turned lost loves that are found again. Fantastic start to a series that I can’t wait to read more of.
Happy Ever Never kept me thoroughly immersed in the story of Willow and Piers. Anger, jealousy and betrayal basically tore them apart but their love for each other never faded. And although Piers was initially angry with Willow when he finally found her after a little more than five years, they do their best to repair their relationship.
There is a part of this story that I’d love to talk about but I worry that it might be considered a bit of a spoiler, since I didn’t see it coming when I started reading. So I’ll just say that I loved this little secret. 🙂
While I did enjoy the story there were instances that confused me a bit. At one point where Piers and Willow are arguing it didn’t feel right. It was like the argument, the anger behind it came right out of nowhere. Especially considering they’d been getting along well at this point.
Willow is needed back in England to be present at the reading of her Aunt Wendy’s will. During this time you learn that her Uncle James is unwell. I don’t recall if his illness was exactly explained but I felt that his part in this story wasn’t finished. There was also another thing that I felt was left hanging, though this book does NOT end in a cliffhanger.
After I finished the book I decided to contact the author to ask some questions and was informed that while the books in this series are standalones, they are interconnected. So even though I felt that there were things that weren’t fully explained, those things are likely to be resolved in a future book.
Anyway, I found Happy Ever Never to be a very enjoyable read, and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. It is definitely worth a read!
— I won an ARC of Happy Ever Never from the author via a Facebook giveaway and voluntarily reviewed it.–
A sweet, quick read. I really enjoy it! <3
Brittany Holland brings a little Disney fantasy from my childhood into a magical story of love, trust, and real hard life: Happy Ever Never. #CompassToMyHeart #PAN
Willow is the single mother a lot of us have been. The decisions we make for our children, hoping for the best, and taking these burdens upon our loving shoulders…Holland has gripped my heart strings and yanked them with full force. I have cried so many tears for Willow, and some were for memories that once tainted my own happiness. She was brave, strong, and held her head high when the burden continued to weigh her down. There are so many emotions wrapped up in Holland’s words: soulful.
Piers is a man who grows into his own. The readers are able to watch him begin as a young orphan without a thing in the world; however, he later becomes a success with money and power. He earns my respect for every moment that he takes responsibility for life and the choices we make. Holland gives Piers a real heart, and for that, she has earned mine. The agony and loneliness I’ve felt for Piers are so real I can feel it in my bones. I have choked on so many words for him.
Words cannot express how gut wrenchingly wonderful this book is! There’s so much raw emotion that reaches out and touches my heart through every page! I couldn’t be left alone to read this book for all the tears of joy and sorrow I’ve shed for these characters. The lies, the truth, the pain I’ve endured along with them every step of the way….just trying to get to the end. As a once single mom; this book is everything real for me!
Fantastic!
What a sweet story! The whipped cream topping to this story was the London locale and the English vocabulary, which made this so heartwarming.
I loved the interaction between Willow and Piers when they were at the gala/ball being able to show the affection and attraction between each other. It was just a matter of time before they finally admitted their love for each other despite Scarlett’s interference.
I was impressed with natural positive relationship between mother and son. The pirate theme was fun with Everlend kind of reminding me of Neverland from Peter Pan. Drew is a smart boy with a bit of cheek added in!
I enjoyed the entire pursuit Piers gave Willow because it was classy, romantic and full of raw emotion.
What a lovely journey to happily ever after, pirates and all! I loved it! Excellent job!
What can you say about a story that thoroughly breaks your heart and then completely and beautifully puts it back together again?
Years ago Piers and Willow loved as teenagers but jealousy, secrets and lies tore them apart. Now they have a second chance as a family but face many of the same problems from years ago.
I loved Piers! He is such a great hero!! And Willow? My heart went out to her as she lived with her secret and loved her family. This is a fantastic story!!
