Susan Mallery, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fool’s Gold romances, proves there’s no place like Happily Inc for the holidays… independent woman who can’t help dreaming what-if about a man she barely knows. Until he needs her help…
Garrick’s pregnant daughter will be home for Christmas, and his house needs a woman’s touch. Garrick and his little girl were tight once and he’s hoping a small-town Christmas will bring her back to him. But thawing his daughter’s frosty attitude will take more than a few twinkle lights. Maybe sharing the holiday with Wynn and her son will remind her of the joy of family.
As the season works its magic on these wounded souls, Wynn realizes it’s time to stop punishing herself for a painful secret, while Garrick remains haunted by the ghosts of past mistakes. Will he allow Wynn to open the only gift she truly wants—his heart?
Don’t miss The Summer Getaway by Susan Mallery where one woman discovers the beauty in chaos in a poignant and heartwarming story about the threads that hold family together.

I’ve said it a few times- I love Susan Mallery’s standalone books. This series, Happily, Inc has always sounded like such an awesome series, but every time I pick one up, I don’t like the characters. This book has the classic banter that I love in her books; it makes me want to have her characters as friends. There are so many check in’s from past books that I am sure it will make series fan’s hearts happy to see how well their favorite characters are living their HEAs.
The premise is good. Neighbors who turn into more while trying to navigate real life. But everything happened really fast. Like they went from saying hello and discussing the weather if they saw each other outside to kissing and wondering how they could make time to be intimate within a week after a day of shopping and another of organizing. And talking about having kids together by Christmas, which was like 6 weeks in. There was no romance. Just them thinking their own thoughts and then boom. There was a lot of time spent talking about decorations (I never want to hear the term paper turkey again) and home decor and furniture shopping and some of that could have been cut down for some relationship development between Wynn and Garrick. Also there were no real problems. There were issues that made me intrigued and want to know how they got worked out, but then when the cause was revealed it would be a let down. Like, not in the lighthearted sense, more like that is ridiculous sense. And that happened a few times. Then it seemed like everyone is a millionaire, money seemed to be no object to anyone, so it gave another reason it didn’t feel as relatable as I thought it would. Overall I need to remember- I like the standalones.
Happily This Christmas, the latest in the Happily Inc series by Susan Mallery, is a fantastic book. As families grow and the dynamics change sometimes the magic of the season tends to get a bit lost. As does communication. This witty tale of two neighbors is sure to give you all the feels this holiday season. Will Wynn forgive herself? Can Garrick and his daughter make peace with the past? This is sure to be a holiday favorite for you too.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
It was a great book!
It was such a heartwarming Christmas book.
Garrett asked for Wynn’s help in decorating his house for Christmas.
His daughter was coming to town.
Wynn jumped at the chance, since she always had a crush on him.
Will Wynn + Garrett realize that they are perfect Christmas gift for each other?
The characters + storytelling were very captivating
It has all the ingredients that you need for an awesome book!
It is a totally must read.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
I already had fallen in love with Happily Inc series. This book was no different at all. I laughed the first few pages of the book. I absolutely loved returning to Happily for Wynn and Garrick. This story was definitely heart warming. Thanks again to Susan for writing another great story.
This was a fun continuation of the Susan Mallery series Happily Inc. If you’ve read the series from the beginning, this book reunites all the old characters from this quirky little town where “happily ever after” is the name of the game. This installment is Wynn’s turn to find her happiness after denying herself any true chance of that for a long, long time. This opportunity comes in one hot, hunky, funny, charming cop next door who has baggage of his own – both of them really need to unpack! While Wynn is trying to raise her teenage son, Garrick (the hot cop) is dealing with a miserably pregnant and unhappy grown daughter. In trying to help each other deal with all the drama that accompanies family dynamics and insecurities, they realize they really, really like each other and both are excited but really afraid to even think about where something between the two of them might go. It’s a sweet continuation of the series and it’s fun to find out what’s been happening to the other characters we’ve already met. If you’ve been reading the books, it’s a must to round out the series. If you haven’t, it would still be a great read but I’d encourage you to start from the beginning.
The fact that it is a Happily Inc book is enough for me to want to read it and re-read it. But it is also a great love story and second chance book. With laughter, tears and a bit of Christmas magic! I highly recommend it!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This book has a good mix of happiness, romance and real life complications. It is another of Susan Mallery’s feel-good stories.
Another hit from Susan Mallery! I love this new series and have been waiting on Wynn’s story. It’s interesting to read about couples that are older and learning from past mistakes. It’s a fun Christmas magic kind of story that won’t disappoint the reader!
I don’t often read holiday books, but getting to visit Happily Inc and the wonderful residents is hard to pass up. This time we have single mom, Wynn’s story. Her hunky neighbor is asks her help him prepare his home for his adult daughter’s arrival and suddenly her schoolgirl crush turns into a friendship/romance.
This was a lighthearted read and I enjoyed the secondary relationships/characters in the story as well: Wynn’s relationship with her son and Garrick’s daughter who arrives with an enormous chip on her shoulder and attitude that made it lucky anyone bothered to speak to her. This was a story of overcoming the past, lessons learned and finding family.
I have been waiting for Wynn’s story and it was worth the wait. It was so nice to return to Happily, Inc. and all of the wonderful characters we have met before. The girls have a lunch every other week, alternating at each others places . New friends are added as they move to town. Each has found true love and their happily ever after except for Wynn. It was so nice to see her find some happiness after devoting the past fourteen years to her only son.
I truly enjoyed this story and the many twists it had to it. The characters were relatable and lovable. Any time we revisit Happily Inc. is entertaining and with this being set at Christmas, it is even more so. Start your holiday season with this gem!
A perfect start to the holiday season.
Yet another Susan Mallery masterpiece to proudly display on my bookshelf. Most would say this for nearly every book they read now, but I can genuinely say that Happily this Christmas was a welcome escape from the reality we call our world now. That being said…
I never thought I could be as excited for a small town read as I was for Fool’s Gold, until Susan blessed us with the magical town of Happily Inc. To be able to read and witness the growth and strength of Wynn in the previous 5 books and then her wonderful realization in this book, is what really did for me this time.
I can not wait to see how the characters we know and love will continue to grow and develop.
Personally, I hope it will go long enough so that I can see how Hunter turns out. I have very high hopes for that boy.
In short, I highly recommend this book to all who already know the joys of reading, what I call a “Susan” and those that don’t.
Note: I have voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this title.
I enjoyed this story about two single parents. I always like these small town stories where you can catch up with different characters you have already read about. I enjoyed the part in the book about marines. This was a good start to the holidays. I highly recommend this book.
First off doesn’t everyone enjoy a great Christmas story? I surely do. This book brings you back to the Happily Inc town and family and puts you in the holiday spirit. I’ve read all the rest of this series and been waiting for Wynn to get her HEA. Garrett is the perfect partner for her and I loved how he took care and cherished his daughter. It was a great book and I hope you all get the chance to read it this Christmas
Susan Mallery does it again. What a fun, heartwarming, cuddle up with coffee book. I’ve been waiting forever for Wynn’s story. I love love love the Happily Inc series. I have to be honest and say that I was waiting for a bigger story for Wynn. Her rage at Jasper for spending time with Hunter, and they way she is about Hunter made me think that there was going to be a bigger secret in her past. I loved her story, but it wasn’t as exciting as I thought it was going to be. No worries though, the story has plenty of moments that will carry you through. Girl friend fun, holidays, family, and lots of tough situations that need patience and love. Read it today!
A wonderful read. Another book hard to put down after i started it.
I am going to be honest, when this book dropped into my mailbox, I had forgot it was coming. When I saw it, I wasn’t really very excited to read it like I normally am when I get one of Susan’s books. There has been a lot going on in my life that has not been very good. So, I grabbed the book and dug in. I am so happy that this book hit my mailbox, thank you Susan for giving me something to take my mind off my own turmoil and live through others. It was such a great book, and although it is called happily this Christmas it is not a huge Christmas story.
There is so many stories in one book. Wynn herself is a few stories. I love her. She is this really put together woman, always helping others. She is a single mom of a 14 yr. old son Hunter. They have a great relationship. Hunter’s dad passed away long ago. Wynn is punishing herself for a decision she made long ago in her life, one she needs to let go of. Right now, she is eyeing her neighbor, Garrick who is chief of police in their tiny town. She is dreaming of a what if with him when she is not even sure he notices who she is, until his daughter comes to town.
Garrick has been living alone in his home for long enough and he has no woman’s touch in it. He finds out that his pregnant daughter, Joylyn is coming to stay with him for a while. He has not seen her for quite a while, they used to be very close, but something happened, and she started refusing to see him when she was a teenager. He has no idea why. He hopes they can fix it while she is staying with him. What he does not really know is his ex-wife is sending his daughter to him because she has become very moody, whiny and hard to live with. Her husband is due home in a few months, he is enlisted. Garrick realizes he needs some help with the house and asks Wynn, she jumps at the chance and from there an incredibly good friendship is formed.
The stories in this book, are all good strong stories, just like the people. They intertwine but tell their own. I love how the town gets involved with a friend of Joylyn’s wedding. The Happily Inc people are involved throughout the book. It is a feel-good book but also a real-life scenario book too. Another winner for me is how Wynn & Garrick were friends before anything else, that made their relationship flow so much nicer.
I am not saying much about the stories since I think you would rather read the book and enjoy them on the pages. Just know that the book is an all-around great book to read no matter the season. Ms. Mallory has again knocked it out of the park.
Single Mom, Wynn, had a successful business and a beautiful son. But one thing she really wanted more than anything was her gorgeous neighbor Garrick. Susan Mallery does it again and delivers a wonderful heartwarming story of love, romance and family. And it becomes apparent that the story’s villain is really just dealing with deep seated hurt and suppressed feelings. You’ll love how main character, Wynn, reunites and bonds those around her with love and understanding. Such a great read!
This is the 6th book in the Happily Inc series but the first one I have read.
I found this book to be heartwarming and full of Christmas spirit and romance. It was a fun read but at the same time dealt with real issues such as dealing with past mistakes and family issues. The characters’ struggled with their past but dealing with those issues gave them the opportunity to learn and grow. By the end of the book the characters’ have matured and fought hard to have their happy ending.
I would love to go back and start the series from the beginning.
Happily This Christmas by Susan Mallery
Wynn Beauchene and Garrick McCabe are the main characters.
Wynn is a single mom raising her son Hunter. They are next door neighbors who meet and start talking when Garrick wants Wynn to help him make his house a home where his estranged pregnant married daughter Joylyn will be comfortable. They start spending time together to let Joylyn and Garrick have people around so that they can get to know one another again. I enjoyed the way the two relationships developed within this book. Garrick and Wynn have their happily ever after. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend to anyone looking for a great book to read..
I had a really hard time reconciling this Wynn with the self-assured, independent Wynn from Not Quite Over You. When we met Wynn, she was this hard woman, terribly protective of her son, to the point of dumping a man simply because he dared to give her son what he desperately needed and asked for – a male role-model and friend. Now she’s a simpering cliché, who lets the neighbor in without a second thought and gives him full access to her son, including making out with her son in the next room. I kept waiting for the body-snatchers to be revealed. The book was good, as long as I thought of this as a totally new character who happened to have the same name. I did, however, love that SM’s marines were included because that is one of the best FB posts I’ve ever read. And I wish more people would pull together IRL to create special memories for their communities.
