My movie star crush is coming to stay at my house. And he’s my sister’s new boyfriend. My sister Juliet has always gotten everything she wants. It’s mostly fine though. I never wanted the spotlight. That was for Juliet. And now that she’s America’s most popular starlet? She can have it.But when Gran—the feisty woman who raised us, and who I cannot seem to wean off video games, an afternoon … us, and who I cannot seem to wean off video games, an afternoon doobie, or her daily Manhattan—has a huge party to celebrate her 90th birthday, Juliet brings the spotlight right to our front door. Literally.
In the form of my ultimate movie-star crush, Ryan McDonnell. I can barely form a sentence around the guy (at least I don’t still have a poster of him on my wall). And I definitely can’t get over the fact that he’s Juliet’s new boyfriend. Because of course he is. She’s Juliet Manchester. And I’m … well, I’m the boring sister.
I just need to get through the weekend with them—and with the magazine people who are covering them and the party for a feature. I just need to stay away from Ryan and his warm curious eyes, his perfectly chiseled arms, and the impossibly sexy things that come out of his mouth when we’re alone together.
It’s only one weekend, and I just need to remember that Ryan is an actor.
But he’s a good one. Because I almost believe him when he tells me we have a chance together.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
Sometimes this particular fake-relationship storyline can become a hot mess and make me want to stop reading, especially when the falling in love isn’t happening between the fake couple.
BUT Delancey Stewart is a wonderful writer who wrote the story line and characters so amazingly that Happily Ever His was not one of those and I barely put it down once I started reading it.
It has all the goodies I love in the books I read…Light, fun, quirky(house chicken..), sweet with a dash of sexiness, a fun grandma and so much more. I’m excited and can hardly wait to read Juliet’s story.
~ I received an ARC of this book for my honest review. ~
I just finished reading “Happily Ever His” by Delancey Stewart. This book has it all: humor, a love-sick attack chicken, amazing characters, a sweet romance and some drama. The story is original and fun with some quirky and entertaining characters.
Even if you don’t usually read books that fall into the Fake Relationship trope you should still check this one out it is worth your time.
Insta-love has never felt so real! Delancey delivers witty dialogue, well-rounded characters you’ll fall in love with, and an overriding sweetness we all need in our lives. Whether it’s Gran who makes you laugh and tugs on your heart or Tess who makes you cheer when she stands firm on who she is or Ryan when he would give it all up for someone to finally love him, Happily Ever His will steal your heart and remind why you love reading romance. Can’t wait to read more from this author!!
An amazing well written fake relationship and more with a unique twist. This intriguing storyline was funny and addicting having me on the edge of my seat for a great HEA. It includes a crazy ex, long distance, angst, insta love, undeniable attraction, romance, a contract, crazy animals and lots of laugh out loud moments. The characters were interesting and relatable. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC and can’t wait for Juliet’s story.

I rarely give Coveted 5 STAR ratings; they’re saved for Books/Items that Outshine, Outclass, & Outperform their competition… They’ve gotta give me something MORE! Delancey Stewart does just THAT in Her WORK. I was granted, via B00|{$P®0UT, Delancey Stewart’s “Happily Ever His: A movie star/fake relationship/in love with the wrong sister romantic comedy (Movie Stars in Maryland Book 1).” I recommend this book to others based upon its own recommendations. All opinions expressed within this review are uniquely my own & freely given!
Until next time… Happy Reading!
oved this book! Looking forward to the second installment. Gran is my new favorite person, ever. I hope to be just like her. She is turning 90 but until then she is 59, just like she has been for years! Also, she thinks pigs are the devil but on that she and I will have to disagree.
Also, I kinda want my own house chicken now, especially if it comes with a Jack…
But really, this story is about Ryan and Tess and the unlikely couple that they become despite all kinds of craziness. One of my absolute favorite moments was just a kiss. It was a great kiss. “And when I kissed her in that tent, in front of the crowd, when I revealed the truth that had been in my heart since the day I’d seen Tess Manchester, my world snapped into alignment.”
Definitely check this out and get ready for the next one!
Superficial image against reality and honesty.
4.5
Very good story in which the manipulation of the image of a Hollywood star comes parasitize the attraction of her sister for her fake boyfriend.
Through this romance, it is a good reflection against the paparrazades, these actions organized between the stars and the journalists to restore their images or to create a false story to forget another one. This is what happens in this story: Ryan partners with Juliet so that she can no longer appear depressed after her divorce because it damages her image as a romantic comedy actress, and Ryan could boost his career with this false bond under contract. This plan is harmed when Ryan meets Tess, Juliet’s sister who has a normal life, who takes care of her grandmother and her sports activities she organizes. It is the opposite of Hollywood materialism and its superficiality.
I loved the pretty tender characters, but they’re trapped in their own lives, except for the grandmother who at 90 years lives the life she wants: being a teenager geek hanging on her computer to play Warcraft for hours and insulting the game or other players.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
This book took me for an emotional tailspin that had me invested from the very beginning. What an interesting story – Hollywood boy sets up relationship with Hollywood girl, only to fall for Hollywood girl’s sister and hometown instead. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this storyline, but it was so good!
There are so many good parts to this book, but I love Gran most of all. I think all readers will fall in love with her, too (maybe more than the main characters, even though they’re great as well). Ryan and Tess have a fairytale love, but it’s not all cut and dry – which I appreciated. They have to navigate their individual sets of circumstances in order to find happiness, and it was quite the ride to true love.
I was sad to see this story end – especially since I pretty much fell in love with Gran – but I’m very excited to read the next book in this series!
I loved Ryan and Tess! The storyline behind this book was unique and well-thought-out. I’m not sure I believe too much in love at first sight, although my dad swears he fell for my mom that way ;). But Delancey made it believable in telling this story. I was glad to see all of the lies and secrecy come to the open, earlier rather than later. I would have loved to hear more about Ryan’s somewhat hasty decision to essentially leave Hollywood, maybe that he was ready for a career change, not for love alone. But overall I loved this story and I can’t wait to hear Juliette’s story and what was hinted at in this book! Oh – and Gran was freakin hilarious!! She definitely needs to make further appearances!

What if you met your celebrity crush but he was dating your sister?
Happily Ever His is the first book in the Movie Stars in Maryland Duet. Movie star Juliet Manchester is going through a rough divorce and to help distract the press she enlists the help of fellow actor Ryan McDonnell to fake a new romance. They are traveling back to Juliet’s hometown in Maryland to celebrate her grandmother’s 90th birthday. Juliet’s younger sister, Tess, has had a long time crush on Ryan. Used to being overshadowed by Juliet, Tess is thrown for a loop when her sister’s boyfriend seems to notice her. No one notices Tess with Juliet in the vicinity.
I really enjoyed this story. Great characters – Chessy the lovesick house chicken, falls for one of Juliet’s bodyguards and Gran, the pot smoking, World of Warcraft obsessed birthday girl are hilarious. Ryan is down to earth in spite of being famous; Tess is sweet and a bit awkward. The development of the romance between Tess and Ryan is well written. I loved this book and can’t wait to read the second half of this duet- Happily Ever Hers (Juliet’s story) – when it releases in early September.
*I received an early copy of this book and am posting my honest opinion.*
I absolutely loved Ryan and Tess’s story and can’t wait to read Juliet’s. A great story of love at first sight. It left me with a smile and ready for the next book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved Happily Ever His! The book is well written with detailed characters. I like how the book alternates between Tess and Ryan’s point of view. I love the characters! Tess and Ryan are great and their romance is perfect and sweet. Gran is very interesting and funny. This book has it all, humor, romance, drama, some steamy scenes and great character interactions. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
Happily Ever His is a unique, funny twist on the “fake relationship” trope, with a love-at-first-sight bonus, in addition to funny pets and grandmas.
Sidenote: If you are a Delancey Stewart fanatic, or are in her Facebook group, you will have a BUNCH of fangirl moments reading this book with all the little Easter eggs she weaves into the story. It’s *amazing*.
Tess Manchester knows who she is. She’s a strong woman, aware that she’s not a movie-star, maybe, but is comfortable in her own skin. It’s refreshing. Ryan McDonnell is at a crossroads, of sorts, and didn’t realize it until he met Tess. He’s a pretty awesome, stand-up guy, as well. Truly, these two were good on their own. The only obstacles they faced were a fake relationship, a country dividing them, and maybe the reality of Hollywood LA versus the reality of Hollywood, Maryland.
Now. Let’s talk regret-waffles, house-chickens and pot-smoking, Manhattan-drinking, World of Warcraft-playing Grandmas. Or let’s not. You should definitely read for the hilarity that ensues.
This book is funny, charming, heart-warming, and just compelling (I couldn’t put it down. I completely ignored all responsibilities to read it in one sitting). I can’t wait to hear Juliet Manchester’s story in Happily Ever Hers.
*I received this book ahead of time and made no commitment to leave a review, favorable or otherwise.*
This book got all my favourite tropes, fake relationship/romcom/movie star. I’m so amused and in awe by this perfect couple. The attraction is scorching hot and almost impossible to deal with. Instant love when you try to act like you are in another relationship isn’t the best way to start things off. Especially when the one you are faking with is the sister. Since the guy is a utterly good guy, it’s heart wrenching for him to continue to fake it, but what can he do. He has already given his word, and are under contract. And they are constantly watched. The characters are so real to me and some are hilarious, like the WoW-addicted grandmother. The animals are just as uncontrollable as the feelings and you can’t seem to stop turning those pages. I even got to cry both sad and happy tears. Who can ask for more? My family was lucky enough to have sent me away on vacation, because nobody was going to come between me and my new book boyfriend. No time for cooking, cleaning or acting like a chauffeur. Dive in and stay in this world. All I can say is, you don’t want to miss this.
Cute
This is my first book by Delancey Stewart.

I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC from Booksprout.
This was a great read. Ryan’s career is going down the drain after landing lad in a few flops. With him needing the money from his career to help support his father, this is a bad time. So when he gets offered a chance to be a fake boyfriend to America’s sweetheart in a chance to up his career, he can’t say no. Going with Juliet to her grandmother’s birthday party and have a few interviews is passer for the course. But love at first sight with the leading lady’s sister, it was not part of the plan. Tess has always come second, that’s what happens when your gorgeous sister is a movie star. Boys never suck with het long after meeting her sister, or they did just to get closer to Juliet. So when Juliet brings home Tess’s long time movie crush, it’s hard to believe her sister would do that to her. But after years of dealing with boys wanting her sister instead of her, it’s going to be hard for Ryan to break through. Or is it? Voluntary review of an advanced reader’s copy via booksprout
I didn’t know what to except going into this book, but wow! It was actually pretty good!
Tess is organising to throw Gran an amazing bday party while her sister is coming in with her boyfriend, an actor I might add, Ryan to stay at the farmhouse. Tess has always had a crush, well a celebrity crush, on Ryan, and how will she deal with being the same house as him, and her sister, all over each other.
Well things may not be as they seem. Tess finds out and has to hide their secret too. But can she keep it from the film crew that are there to film Gran’s Bday party but ultimately boost both Ryan and Juliet’s careers?
The humour in this book hit the spot. Gran is wild, and the chickens are addicted to the security guards. I loved the wittiness put into it.
I really love insta love stories and this hit the spot! I LOVED IT!
Some of my fave quotes:
1. I’ve never had a gorgeous woman offer to show me her priest hole before. – I lost it! Laughed so hard!!
2. Wrong sister. Focus. – I love the pep talk he has to give himself cause he can’t stop thinking about Tess.
Her sister is a movie start going through a rough divorce when she comes home with Ryan the movie star Tess has in awe of for quite a while. Ryan is quite taken with Tess in spite of the circumstances that brings him home with Juliet. This story draws you I and have your emotions all over the place with the lovable characters including cheesy the chicken.
3.5 but I’ll bump it to 4 because of Gran. This is the first in the Singletree series by Ms. Stewart. She is a new to me author. I found her characters fun, the dialogue witty, and the story easy.
There are fake relationships and then there are fake relationships. Ryan is a down on his luck actor who is trying to revive his career through a fake relationship with Juliet Manchester, Hollywood’s darling. Juliet is going through a nasty divorce and needs Ryan to help quell some rumors and that’s how they end up traveling to Singletree for Gran’s 90th birthday, the party, and a couple of magazine shoots. The last thing Ryan expected to see was Tess, Juliet’s younger sister.
What he really wants is a real relationship with Tess, but he’s in a fake relationship with Juliet. He can’t let anyone know about the fake relationship without hurting Juliet. When Tess does find out her sister and Ryan are playing at a relationship, she has a hard time believing it. They are actors, after all. They are very good at what they do. Is the relationship really fake? Or is the relationship Ryan wants with Tess fake? So many options!
Then, there’s Gran. The pot-smoking, WoW gamer who steals the show…
This is a nice story with fun elements. I really struggled to actually care about the Characters and what was going on. There are humorous moments in here and overall it’s a cute idea. I did listen to this on audio. The narrators did an okay job. Sorry I just cannot muster enough care to read the next in the series.
