I was honestly scared going into this. KL Donn did such a great job making me hate Ashley in the first book that I didn’t think she could make me like her. Like always though, she killed it!!! I loved Ashley so much. I felt so bad for her. All I wanted to do was hug her and tell her that she is loved.
The dynamic between her and Declan is scorching and completely consuming. I am so glad that she found her person and Declan was able to be her protector. There is some kink, but made me love the book more. If you have read Celia’s story this is the a must read. If you haven’t read Cecelia’s story, then you have two books on your list to read!!
This is a new favorite of mine!
Oh my word. I loved Cec and Landon story. But I love this one even more. This book had me SOBBING and aching for Ashley. I’m so very glad that there was.forgiveness, healing, and understanding. Such a great book!!! It has such an important message behind it as well. You really don’t know what someone else is going through or why they do the things they do and make the choices that they make. So shattered and then put back together crying all the way!
It’s hard to redeem a bully, but KL Donn did a fantastic job redeeming Ashley!!
Ashley knew she did wrong!! She finally accepted that, but in accepting being a horrible person she thought she did t deserve compassion or forgiveness. Ashley’s Journey was a difficult one. With the help from Declan she finally started to heal.
A fantastic story with a very powerful message.
A must read!!
I went into this book with a doubtful outlook. If you’ve read the first book in this series you would understand what I’m saying. I did NOT like this Ashley chick. She was public enemy number one!!! When I saw that KL Donn had written the second book about her I was so sure that there were no way….no words….that could make me like Ashley.
(Kind of like how I thought there was no way I could care about Snape from Harry Potter 😛 )
So, I did not go in with an open mind. I started reading with a ton of doubt and dislike for this character.
But…
By the end of the book, when I hit that last page and closed my kindle cover, I was in tears. I wanted to hug Ashley and take away all her pain.
So, just like with Snape, Ashley became someone I longed to be happy.
I guess this book could be read as a stand-alone but in my personal opinion, you should read the first book first. You will get a better understanding of Ashley and some other characters.
Going into this book, I did not think it was possible for me to like or understand Ashley and what she did. There is so much she went through, and although what she did was not right she did it as a way to lash out and seek the attention she always craved. It was sad seeing how she was punishing herself and no one even noticed what she went through when she was in jail. Declan is the only one who dug deep enough and was willing to do everything to save her. Ashley redeemed herself, and KL knew precisely how to write and redeem her. This is a great book, and this author always manages to amaze me when it comes to her writing.
This is Ashley’s story – she was a character in Once Upon A Time. She was so bad in book 1 that I couldn’t see myself ever liking her or her story but K.L. Donn has done it! I fell madly in love with Ashley’s story. Her story isn’t what I thought it was all about. The pain she suffered and she hid- OMG. Last we saw she ended up in book 1 having to go to jail for the assault she committed and in book 2, she has hit rock bottom. Her PO is worried about her. Her PO sees she is steps from the ledge and asks his friend Declan to help. Has him befriend Ashley to try and find out what is going on. For Declan, he has met his soul mate. There is moments in this story that will stick with you long after it ends.
Twists and turns, deep rollercoaster ride of emotions and the FEELS that happen… sizzling heat, chemistry and connection. Ashley is so different and Declan is her savior. I loved the flow and the characters. Amazing!!!
My Rating: 4.7 stars *****
I absolutely loved this book.
It was an emotionally and very well written book.
The characters had such stunning chemistry.
I had already read this book before.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book from an advanced reader copy.
I really disliked Ashley in once upon a time. But I am totally love he now. Great story
Love Ashley and Declan Emotional beautiful addicting amazing love story. So intense heartstopping need more
This was a beautiful heartfelt read about Ashley and Declan. After the last book, I didn’t think Ashley could redeem herself but what she goes thru and happens to her more than makes up for her behavior and actions. This story was heartbreaking and so beautiful. I couldn’t stop reading until I finished this wonderful emotional story. Can’t wait to read more by KL Donn.
I went into this book expecting to not be a huge fan. But, I’m a huge fan of the author, so I went in with an open mind. I loved it. Ashley was able to redeem herself in my eyes. She got the hea she deserved. Awesome read!!
I hated Ashley in the first book. She was so mean and just an ugly person so I wasn’t sure how I was going to like her in this book. But per usual KL hooked me in and made feel for Ashley and helped me understand her. This book is about how others, especially our loved ones, can make sure feel without even knowing it. KL had all the feels in this book and Ashley 100% redeemed herself….even if took longer than I would have liked lol.
I felt so many emotions with this book. First of all, I recommend that the first book in the series, Once Upon A Time, is read first. They both stand alone but in order to understand Ashley’s story, you need to read Cecilia’s. KL Donn has a way with words and a way to incorporate real life struggles into her stories. This is a romance story between Ashley and Declan. But it’s also so much more than that. It’s a story of forgiveness. Forgiveness for others but also for yourself. Being bullied is traumatic. But this also teaches you that the bullies themselves also have their demons. No one is better than anyone else. We are all battling our own demons and you never know what the other person is going through.
I love this story. It made me laugh, love, and cry. Declan was exactly what Ashley needed.
I also love how Sage and Loch cross into this story briefly and how Ashley was also a part of helping Sage. I love it when I recognize other characters from other stories.
There are no perfect words to describe what kind of impact this story can have on you. The whole series itself is unbelievable.
This is such an emotional story. Had me crying so much, it’s such a heartbreaking story a true emotional tale. Ashley and Declan just loved them. This isn’t an easy subject to write about bullying but KL Donn has done it so well that you feel every word she wrote right to your heart.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this story. In book 1, Ashley wasn’t high on my likeable list. After reading this book, I feel like she did deserve her happy ending. Glad she got it. Loved Declan!
From being the bully, to being the bullied, to finding acceptance, HAPPILY EVER AFTER is a story of forgiveness, recovery, acceptance, and love.
After reading ONCE UPON A TIME, I wasn’t a fan of Ashley’s, but every person has their own story. And Ashley’s story was heavy, infuriating, and heartbreaking. But love always finds a way because it is powerful, all-consuming, and healing.
In accepting how wrong her actions were and facing her punishment head-on, Ashley took the first step in becoming a better person. When Declan stepped foot into her world, he was everything she needed, and she was the same for him.
Together, they were beautiful.
They were strong.
They were the missing pieces to each other’s lives.
And, they were each other’s happily ever after.
We met Ashley in Once Upon a Time and I didn’t like her at all!
Well..she definitely redeemed herself and more in this book.
This book is about forgiving oneself for past mistakes. About second chances and about parents giving love and attention to their kids instead of materials. Loved it and Declan..he was so Alpha and also very dominant and that is what Ashley needed.
This is definitely a love hate with Ashley. I was not sure I would/could like her, but I do. There is much in this story that is hard. There is also much that is rewarding. If only real life had people realizing their mistakes and their need for healing, this world would be better. The romance between Declan and Ashley is awesome!
I was not a fan of Ashley Powers in book1 . I mean I really didn’t like her, I won’t say hate because that’s a very strong word, but I got to understand what was going on and why she did what she did to Cecilia Marks.
Ashley’s brother, Landon was a favorite of mine before but in the beginning of this book I was seriously reconsidering that. He was such an a$$ to Ashley. Yes she hurt the love of his life but after she was released he could have shown her some compation. The only person who was nice to her was Cecilia who probably is the only person who shouldn’t have.
Declan is one of my favorites! When he was assigned to Ashley’s case, he knew something was off with her and was determined to find out what it is. When he found out her dirty secret, he was there for her offering help.
I hope we see more of these characters in the future!
Happily Ever After by KL Donn a five-star read that will leave you happy. This is the second novel in the Timeless Love series, and they could possibly be read as stand-alone, but I have read and loved them as a series and do think you would get the best of them that way, but not everyone likes reading like me. I didn’t think I would be able to love this one more that I loved the first Once upon a Time, I can honestly say I hated Ashley Powers in the first novel and that’s a word I don’t bandy about lightly, but my heart went to her in this one and she is possibly one of the best written characters I will ever come across. I have never had such a visceral about turn of heart for a character. I could write lines and lines about how much she changed in my eyes. Declan Hart was a bit of a strange one to pin down, but he soon made me blush with need. I have adored this series and the way the author has dealt with bullying from both sides is sublime, it shines a light on a subject that so few are willing to discuss but really should be more open about.
