Happily Ethan After is a sweet, sexy story that is a bit of a departure for KB Winters. When I think of KB, I think alphahole, military men with control issues and aggressive personalities, and sassy, feisty women that bring those men to their knees. Here in Happily Ethan After, Ethan isn’t really alpha or aggressive. He’s no wimp, but he’s not what I’d call an alphahole. He is an asshole, but not so much the aggressive military type. And Misha (love that name!) is the sweet, free-spirited hippie chick who brings Ethan to his knees, but only after “fixing” him of the issues he has, but doesn’t want to admit to.
You see, Ethan is the owner of a healthy living company, a former model, now a billionaire business guru. But he has an image problem thanks to a disastrous interview where the hostess probed a little too hard into his past and he snapped and outed her husband in retaliation. Now his brother has recommended a “fixer” to get Ethan’s image back and to keep his stock price from plummeting. Of course, Ethan is resistant, and when he meets Misha, he’s even more resistant. For one, he was expecting a man, for another, she’s the first woman he’s actually been attracted to in ages. But now she’s off-limits and it irritates him. So does her hippie dippy approach that’s all about surfing, talking (gasp) and eating all kinds of unhealthy things. To say these two are opposites is putting it mildly. And yet, Misha’s gentle, non-intrusive approach works, and Ethan slowly starts to open up and loosen up and he’s on his way to figuring out why he snapped during that horrible interview. Their unwanted attraction to each other, though, is chipping away at them. How long can they last before they cross that line?
I really liked Misha. Ethan not so much, but Misha’s sweet, seriously intelligent personality made up for Ethan’s many deficiencies. I like the way she gently got around Ethan’s walls and how non-judgemental she was. Ethan got on my last nerve with his closed up personality and for not groveling to Misha when he should have toward the end, but their seriously hot chemistry, and Misha’s gentle, loving personality made Happily Ethan After a really bright 4 star read.
I really enjoyed reading this book about a billionaire and a down to earth fixer. It was thoroughly intriguing to see how some can have a break down even though they have plenty of money and when they are willing to accept help. The story is original and unique.
I received this book as an ARC copy for a voluntarily honest review.
