Tracy Price needs a sampler that says, “When you’ve got it all, don’t screw it up by worrying you’re going to screw it up.”Not that she doesn’t appreciate the abundance in her life. She has a rock star husband, two slightly spoiled kids, a successful career, friends who are mostly sane, a sprinkling of the ridiculous, and a pinch of the absurd. It’s her never-fail recipe for the potluck of life. But … for the potluck of life.
But Tracy also has a fertile imagination that torments her with visions of impending disaster, everything from divorce, dysentery, and disinterest, to dodge-ball injuries, dolphin uprisings, and the return of disco.
When a real disaster strikes her friend Randi, Tracy pledges to do anything she can to help, even if that means agreeing to find Randi a man and plan a dream wedding.
Tracy’s husband, Jesse, suggests the whole thing is crazy, but she insists she’s up to the tasks, even over-qualified. Except that she’s not. But she’s never been one to let reality interfere with her good intentions.
As Randi’s big day approaches, Tracy’s anxiety mounts along with her fear that instead of planning a wedding, she’s been cooking up a disaster for her friend. And for herself.

The Happiest Marriage in The History of the World was unexpectedly wonderful. The characters were fun and colorful. More importantly they are flawed and totally relatable! I’ll be honest it was very slow for me in the middle and a little repetitive, but the ending completely redeems the minor lull. Looking for a little comic relief with love and friendship- check out Patrice Locke’s Happiest Marriage in The History of the World !
On the first page I remembered why I liked these characters so much in Exit Signs, one of my favorite reads. This is a perfect follow up. Don’t we all wonder how long we get to keep our happy ever after? Full of wonderful characters and laugh out loud lines and situations. I loved the ending. It was perfect.
The opening premise of this rom-com is bananas. My advice: just go with it. The payoff is sooo worth it!
This third book set in Albuquerque, New Mexico weaves in all the major characters from Locke’s first two books, Exit Signs and Fresh Start. It works fine as a standalone but will be even more enjoyable if you’ve already read the first two.
Tracy is a documentary filmmaker happily (she’s pretty sure) married to Jesse, a moderately famous rock musician who seems devoted to her and their two kids, despite their rocky beginning. He’d really like to move, though, from Tracy’s too-small childhood home. Somehow, she can’t jump that emotional hurdle, changing the subject every time he brings it up. In fact, that’s Tracy’s M.O. whenever she’s faced with a difficult reality: change the subject and refuse to think about it.
Tracy’s paranoid imagination spins out of control when her best friend’s husband dies suddenly. Logic has no power over her fears—that something bad could happen to Jesse, or that he’s losing interest. Despite his steady, patient support, Jesse never provides the grand romantic gesture Tracy yearns for to quiet her fears.
Randi, the best friend in question, has decided to completely revamp her life and enlists Tracy’s help in finding her a new husband. Hilarity ensues. Yeah, it’s all quite over the top, but think of it as a rom-com and bear with their entertaining, nutso schemes. I promise you, the ending delivers a big surprise and a powerful emotional punch. Get your tissues ready.
Great dialogue and funny characters, including Tracy’s two adorable children. It was very satisfying to watch Tracy’s friends and family help her unravel her emotional knots. Highly recommend.
Patrice Locke has penned another laugh-out-loud story with an ending that blew me away!
I adored the way Ms. Locke returns to the characters of her first story Exit Signs and creates a brand new world with a set of quirky characters that are not at all your typical rock star/researcher couple. Add in a couple of kids, a bit of doubt where their relationship is concerned, and a hunk of a husband, and you have an easy, fun read you’ll be glad you picked up. It takes a lot for me to laugh out loud, and Ms. Locke does it every. single. time.
Though this is a sequel to Exit Signs, it’s easily read as a stand-alone.
I was given an ARC copy of this book and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
This is absolutely wonderful romantic comedy. Filled with quirky, lovable characters that I became simply enamoured with. It is laugh out loud funny! Tracy is such a hoot and so is her friend Randi. This book will keep you turning the pages. The flow is great from beginning to end. An incredibly well written story. I loved that the characters were flawed and relatable. Unbelievable dialogue throughout this book. I know that you will love it as much as I did. Great ending too! #katerocklitchick
