Lord Peter Wimsey and Montague Egg confront menaces from purloined pearls to poisoned port in tales from “one of the greatest mystery story writers” (Los Angeles Times). In the annals of mystery writing, Lord Peter Wimsey and Montague Egg are among the most memorable detectives. Lord Peter—noble by birth, brilliant by nature—is a fly in the ointment of criminals across Britain, turning up … Britain, turning up whenever the police ask him to lend his quick wit and keen eye to an investigation. Montague Egg is a free-spirited figure, a traveling wine salesman with an unfortunate habit of stumbling over murder scenes. Both are inimitably charming, and neither has ever failed to catch his man.
In this collection of stories featuring the two detectives, plus a couple of bonus tales, the mystery maven’s evocation of England between the wars—and her chilling puzzles—remain as engaging as ever.
Hangman’s Holiday is the 9th book in the Lord Peter Wimsey Mysteries, but you may enjoy the series by reading the books in any order.
This ebook features an illustrated biography of Dorothy L. Sayers including rare images from the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College.

I loved all the Dorothy Sayers’ mysteries. I read them many years ago.
I really like all of Dorothy Sayers’ mysteries.
Dorothy Sayers is always excellent, but I have a particular fondness for the Peter Wimsey-Harriet Vane books.
What can you say. Sayers is great and Wimsey is a wonderful character.
Short stories mostly having something to do with murder, some straightforward murder mysteries and some oddities skirting around murder. Well written with a light touch. Easy to read each in a half hour more or less.
What happened after Lord Peter married Harriet Vane. Naturally murder occurs. (The novel’s also known as Busman’s Honeymoon). The jiggery-pokery of the murder’s solution is a bit convoluted. The Whimsey’s deep love for one another, particularly in the coda, after the mystery’s solution, is what lifts this out of the ordinary.
I like Dorothy Sayers novels but this book of short stories is not very entertaining if you like English novels. Not much to keep you guessing just the crime and the final solution.
Didn’t like the format as short stories
The Lord Peter stories are always great
Absolutely love Dorothy Sayers. Always good plot and character development. I just wish she had kept writing her Lord Peter series.
I am a great fan of Sayers. I read this book so long ago that I cannot remember it.
Love Sayers; don’t love short stories.
A must for Lord Peter Whimsy fans
nice short stories with good plots, interesting characters and a great detective.
Well written, enjoyable characters, intriguing plots.
Dorothy Sayers is a great author. I love the Peter Wimsey Character.
A classic work of detective fiction from a great author who created so many memorable characters.
Dorothy L. Sayers is one of the best mystery authors ever. And this collection contains some of her best.

Classic, wonderful intelligent 20th C writing!
