Lord Peter Wimsey and Montague Egg confront menaces from purloined pearls to poisoned port in tales from “one of the greatest mystery story writers” (Los Angeles Times). In the annals of mystery writing, Lord Peter Wimsey and Montague Egg are among the most memorable detectives. Lord Peter—noble by birth, brilliant by nature—is a fly in the ointment of criminals across Britain, turning up … Britain, turning up whenever the police ask him to lend his quick wit and keen eye to an investigation. Montague Egg is a free-spirited figure, a traveling wine salesman with an unfortunate habit of stumbling over murder scenes. Both are inimitably charming, and neither has ever failed to catch his man.
In this collection of stories featuring the two detectives, plus a couple of bonus tales, the mystery maven’s evocation of England between the wars—and her chilling puzzles—remain as engaging as ever.
Hangman’s Holiday is the 9th book in the Lord Peter Wimsey Mysteries, but you may enjoy the series by reading the books in any order.
This ebook features an illustrated biography of Dorothy L. Sayers including rare images from the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College.

I really like the books by Dorothy Sayers. They are all well-written mysteries.
Another author I love and read over again. Miss Sayers was one of the first murder mystery authors who set my feet on a life time love of the “Who done it” genre. What a great original mystery author she is.
Love all Sayers Wimsey novels
Classic mystery
Don’t miss it
This has been a go to author for many years. Her stories never fail to keep my attention on the adventure taking place in my hands as the pages fly by. Have been know to stay up way late to find out ‘who done it’.
Several short stories with interesting twists. Some are rather complicated and you tend to get lost, but overall enjoyable. A good source of insight into early 20th century Britain.
Couldn’t stop, kept reading one after another like chocolates!
Awful
I love everything Sayers has ever written. They are all old friends I have re-read several times. In this crazy time we are going through, we all need to escape and Lord Peter and friends are perfect.
A!LL HER BOOKS ARE GREAT.
Lots of good short stories
I used to have all of her books, but lost all of them when I moved. All of Sayers books sneak up on you after you’ve left the party, and found yourself stuck in a gripping need to call The police. The drama keeps growing.
Never disappointed in Lord Peter W.
Classic Sayers mystery
another peter whimsey book. great story. fluid writing. nice mystery. a tiny bit dated
Love the period piece. Mystery. Love the author.
A classic. One of pillars of mystery writers that others should be measured against!
I first read this many years ago, and I enjoyed the whole series, which I have read many times since. Allingham is classic British mystery with loads of atmosphere. Clever protagonists, dialogue and plots keep you entertained.
Quick, fun read.
