Loving your sisters is easy. Watching them hurt is the hard part.
The Skatt sisters are notorious in the tiny town of Forest Hills for their redheads’ temper, sisterly fights and their father leaving them with their mother and her questionable mental stability. When she dies, eldest sister Maggie steps in to take care of her sisters.
Maggie and Mike are just as famous. After a teenage pregnancy … are just as famous. After a teenage pregnancy that ended happily with a strong marriage and five daughters of their own, they’re a force to be reckoned with in the tiny town.
But when the unthinkable happens, Maggie is blindsided with the grief. For months, Maggie finds comfort in her talks with Mike’s ghost, but the list of things Maggie can’t bring herself to tell him begins to add up; things like grandbabies, and his girls having boyfriends, and Brady Todd, not to mention the fight with the customer at FoodMart and the visit from the police.
And Maggie can’t tell Mike about the return of Ben Higgins, because how do you talk to the ghost of your dead husband about the fact she thinks she might be ready to move on with another man?
Luckily, Maggie’s sisters are there for her, if she’ll only let them.
“…small town romance with wonderful characters. lots of drama and tons of love. It is women’s fiction at its finest.”
Hanging On is the second of the Sisters in a Small town series, heartwarming stories about love and loss and having sisters to pull you through.

Wow this book was just so good and so easy to get lost in. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I just didn’t want it to end. I just couldn’t get enough of these wonderful characters and I just loved getting to see their journey. I will most definitely be reading more stories from this wonderful author.
It is great turning each page to see what happens next, I love when a writer brings the story to life this one does that…
I recieved this book from the author for a honest review.
I want to say thanks alot for getting me addicted to this series and I really want to read the next book.
This book has love and shock and laughter and family. I was confused alot when talking about this family. I love so much how everyone can be different and it is still okay. Loved how bad decision dont ruin families. Forgiveness and love.
Loved the characters and waiting to read follow-ups. Presently reading “Stepping Up”.
Not wild about chick lits, which this is.
The Skatt sisters are something else – never a dull moment!
This book was very good! The main character, Maggie, had many challenges. She had to raise her sisters from a very young age, due to her step-mom having mental illness. Then when her own children were young her husband was killed in an accident. This book is about her journey with recovering from his death and moving on.
Great Book. Very uplifting!I’m
Great book!
A little confusing at first with all the characters (should have read book 1 first) but I enjoyed it.
Really enjoyed and look forward to reading the next one in the series!
The Skatt Sisters living in small town of Forest Hill in Northern Ontario. There is never a dull moment in Maggie’s and her sisters households. This is a wonderful story dealing with complicated family issues that keeps you turning the page. I will read more by this author.
at my age (55+), it’s very enjoyable to read a book that eludes to, but doesn’t necessarily have pages and pages of in-depth intimacy. How a family deals with death and going on afterwards as well as family relationships that sound more like what happens in real life was really enjoyable. thank you for a great read!
boring
You feel all the emotions while reading this story. There’s sadness, happiness, family drama and learning how to move on. The characters are easy to relate to as they each deal with their own issues with what is going on in their lives. You’ll find yourself laughing one moment and crying the next and then laughing again.

Maggie was always the glue that held the sisters together. From the time she was a young teenager and their mom Carly hid away with her illness and grief, Maggie loved the girls.
Her Mike was more a dad than their own biological father ever was. And his loss due to a stupid negligent act is infuriating.
Addison and the other girls growing, changing, bringing on the next generation is fascinating and tiring
Very uncertain what manipulative Dory is up to
A captivating family I want to read more about!
Having already fallen in love with these women, it was easy for me to get sucked back into their lives. And while they swing pretty wildly between hot mess and having it all together, it’s pretty darned entertaining to watch. Though, I’m starting to feel like this series is always going to leave me craving just a little bit more. Because, once again, we get a ‘happy for now’ ending that also leaves us wondering what happens next.

This book, unlike the first, was from a single perspective: Maggie’s. However, even though it was focused on her life after tragedy, we saw a lot of her kids and sisters. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Dory in the next book.

This is book 2 of the Sisters in a Small Town series. Maggie’s story contains an interesting storyline that keeps you turning the pages. There is family drama as Maggie tries to raise her five daughters alone after her husband died. This is small town life!
Maggie’s life felt apart eight months ago when her husband Mike died in a work accident. And now her sister Addison is pregnant but the baby is not from her husband. While working at FoodMart, Ben, an old friend from high school back in town, ask her on a date. Is she ready to go on with her life? Will her daughters be ok with Ben? A powerful life and love’s story. I received a free copy of this book and I voluntarily reviewed it
