The Hanged Man was a riveting and thought provoking read that had me questioning what wouldn’t I do for the ones I love?
From the very beginning I was hooked and needed to know more of Lillian and Hanson’s story. Told from both characters point of view as well as past, present, and after time Lillian and Hanson’s story is quite captivating and had me devouring their story as quickly as I could.
A fairly quick read full of suspense The Hanged Man kept me on my toes as I tried to unravel what was truly happening. Then just as I thought I had it worked out there was a twist I didn’t see coming that sent the story in a whole new direction.
This novella definitely packs quite the punch and left me wanting more of Hanson and Lillian’s story. A definite must read that will keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing until the end!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

The Hanged man is a darkish romance from Clarissa Wild. This is more the size of a novella and I absolutely devoured it. I had to know what was going on with Lilian and Hanson. We get the story from both other their points of view and we get the past and the present. This is a story of love and how far your willing to go for that love. You can not help but to fall in love with Lilian and Hanson, their precious daughter Daisy. If you have read a Clarissa Wild book before you know that your in for a shock at some point and this one delivers. However I don’t know that I would so much call it a shock as a huge question in your head of would I have done the same thing. The answer just might surprise you!!
Loved this little novella by Clarissa Wild, she’s an author I always get excited about.
This story is so well written, showing that the love for your child and partner knows no boundaries. How far would you go to save the people you love, Hanson & Lilian tell in this little quickie.
I would never hesitate to recommend anything by Clarissa Wild & The Hanged Man isn’t any exception.
This is a quick read. The first part of the story was confusing. It made me feel like I was missing the first part of the story. The sequence of events were told (intentionally) out of order. Once things came together you get a good story of love and sacrifice. The be dirty of the story didn’t allow for development but it is still a good read. Both characters made sacrifices for each other and for the love of their child. Once the entire tale unfolds it really is an interesting twist of events.

I am so excited about this series of books by these authors. Clarissa came out with a bang of a story.
I will be honest at first I was confused about what was going on. But it didn’t take long to figure out that this is a dark but humanely sweet story. This story is about what would you do for your child? Would you do anything to save the child you love with all your heart no matter what it did to you? And then would you do anything to save your family?
I loved this novella. In what is a short amount of pages, Clarissa shows you what true love and family means. Loved it.
Lillian and Hanson’s story is beautifully tragic and a must read!!
Hanson did some things he will never regret, except for not being able to tell Lillian the truth. But he knows that he would hang for her no matter what. Lillian is trying to keep moving forward and take care of her daughter, because she is fragile and needs her mommy. Grab this absolutely captivating, tragically beautiful story to find out what happens when Lillian learns the truth behind how Hanson became a murderer. Will she forgive him or make sure he never gets to their family again? Loved this story!!!!
This book was awesome! I loved the intrigue, the emotions, even the suspense! I was right there with her when she did what she did! Loved this short rollercoaster read! Can’t wait to read some of the other offerings in this series!
Grabbed my full attention right away!! A fast, gritty read. I have always enjoyed reading the amazing stories that this author spins and this one was no different.
This was an easy read. It was a good story.
I was super confused about the story until the very end, which is good. I couldn’t even begin to guess what was going on.
I was very happy with the ending.
I have not read Clarissa before and I do think that I will pick up something else written by her soon.
Id love to see a continuation of this story.
5 heartbreaking stars! Just WOW!
For me it was one hell of a tearjerker story. It broke my heart, pierced my soul and when I finished reading I just sat and thought: “And what would I do?” The ethic dilemma in this one is so heartbreaking. You cannot judge you can only pick the side or maybe not…
First pages confused me so much I didn’t know what to expect. This storyline was so unpredictable. So unique. I haven’t yet read a story that would touch such a sensible and controversial subject. It was short but packed with emotions. Even if short it didn’t disappoint. Sometimes there is no need for full length novel to move the reader emotionally. Sentiments after reading this one will linger longer, I can’t stop thinking about Lillian and Hanson.
Great job on this one and a lot of courage to present such subject in the way it is done!
Wow, this book has left me speechless – it is so compelling and captivating I could not stop reading. The storyline is emotionally deep, beautiful, and well written. Secrets are revealed, a family is reunited, sacrifices made, and questions are answered. Definitely recommended.

This is my first experience reading a Clarissa Wild book, although I have many on my TBR. The Hanged Man is a part of the Cards of Love Series featuring many authors, it is a novella so a quick read and you are not left wondering what happened for long. I found Clarissa’s words to flow nicely and hook you in. Hanson and Lil’s story is filled with tragedy and hope and a whole lot of love.
I was not expecting all of what happened but was pleased with the outcome and left with an understanding that their story was not black and white, but filled with many shades of gray. Something that is true for the world around us.
What wouldn’t you do to protect your child? For Lilianna, it meant fleeing with her daughter when her husband does the unthinkable. For Hanson, it means committing murder. Hanson knows what the world thinks of him. He knows even his wife, who has always loved him is scared of the man she thinks he became. When he is finally released from prison, he seeks out his wife and child and is desperate to get his family back. Lilianna May be scared of him, but he did what he had to do to protect their daughter, Daisy. When Lilianna finally learns the truth, will she rethink her desperate decision to run from the man she loves?
In true Clarissa Wild fashion, The Hanged Man is a dark romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is a novella, and there in lies my only complaint, I desperately wanted this story to be longer. At the beginning it is a bit confusing as we’re brought into the story immediately without much set up. As you read things make more sense and then it’s over leaving us hungering for more. The ending was not what I was expecting and I kept hoping more pages would appear on my kindle. The story though was very well written with some dark and disturbing moments.
this book has left me wanting more. Lillian and Hanson are such great characters and the story had me from the start. One of the things I like most in reading is not being able to figure out how it goes and this was perfect! I mean yes you know there’s back story between the two but never saw this one coming and I loved it!!!! Once again Clarissa Wild did not disappoint!
Fast paced, quick read. This story is gonna have you thinking about it, I mean really thinking about it long after you’ve finished. Is there ever a right time to take a life? What if that person is your soulmate and they put him in prison after calling him a murderer….. well, Hanson has escaped and headed straight for home of Lillian and their daughter Daisy. … he knows he can’t stay. This is a one stop deal. Even though Lillian doesn’t want anything else to do with him, he just has to have Lillian one last time and to finally meet his little Daisy. This will have to last him a lifetime on the run.
Then the most surprising and interesting thing happens after the truth surrounding that alleged murder and Daisy’s life that Lillian didn’t know till now. …. could it be that Daisy is going to spend some quality time in Mexico with her daddy?
But what’s to become of Lillian.
I recommend this to 18+ due to adult content.
A novella that I devoured in one sitting, but then again it could’ve been a full length novel and I would’ve done the same thing. Clarissa Wild has such a magical way with words. She just draws you in, keeps you there, making you feel every emotion and not wanting to put it down for one second. And The Hanged Man was no different.
We meet Lillian and Hanson who are willing to do anything and everything for one precious little girl. Daisy.
But it’s what they did and the way they did it that has left me speechless. Believe me when I say I wasn’t expecting this novella. A beautifully written, heartbreaking and breathtaking read that I just loved.
The power that love possesses had no bounds, and believe me this novella proves it. It proves that as humans we are willing to do anything and sacrifice ourselves for love.
5 stars
Wow. That is the first thing that came to mind as soon as I finished this suspenseful dark novella. The sacrifices and the love that the characters go through is mind boggling. What would you do for the one you love? Read to find out just what Lillian and Hanson are willing to do.
I know this is part of the Cards of Love series but I would love to see this turn into a full blown story of where it goes from where this book ends.
How far would you go….what sacrifice would be too much for your child? Hanson and Lillian both dig deep within themselves to find the answer. Protecting her and the love they have for her and each other makes for an intriguing reading experience from Clarissa Wild. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
This book although short, packed a punch. I expected nothing less from the author and was not disappointed. Hanson and Lillian have a lot against them, and with the trouble that followed him, things can only go one way or can it. Unexpected but oh so good. Recommend read

Dark and intense, this emotional romance packs one heck of a powerful punch in a short read format. Lillian and Hanson’s story is complicated by death, separation and a lack of knowledge. The storyline is complex and twisty and to be perfectly honest you may start out confused and will suffer a quite a few “What The Heck?!” moments. In the end though it was moving, sweet, steamy and a bit sad.
