Handle with Care, the final book in the Shacking Up series, was the perfect standalone romantic comedy with tons of banter, with a broody alpha hero and a kickbutt heroine.
Ms. Hunting presents a balanced story with decent amount of humor, wit, charm, and romance. The story line was a riot of spicy moments and hysterical comebacks. The blurb promised me a funny romance and the rest of the book delivered it.
Wren is an independent PR consultant, who’s in charge of overhauling Lincoln’s public image. Her job is to groom up his appearance and create a pleasing public image. Thus, begins the tale of a terrifically hot, witty and playful romance. The author developed a great pace with the insta-attraction and didn’t ruin it by rushing into things.
You have your book if you’re looking for an easy and entertaining read!
Helena Hunting
I freaking love Helena’s writing and the way she makes you addicted to her characters. Seriously, I just can’t get enough. If you want an office romance that gives you feels and makes you laugh – stop reading this review and buy the book already! Happy reading!
I have seriously enjoyed this series and can’t begin to explain the giddiness I feel over the prospect of perhaps getting one or two more books in the Shacking Up world. I was already a true fan of Helena Hunting from the Pucked series, but these books (in addition to Meet Cute) have really displayed her range and ability to draw the reader in and keep them captivated without the irresistible pull of hockey 🙂 The mystery of Lincoln (and the source of Armstrong’s untenable douchery) were revealed superbly and as expected, the woman to heel is true girl squad material. Handle with Care had plot twists and turns that I was not expecting and the heat, humor, and heart that are requisites with this author. I’m really looking forward to her Pucked series spinoff and hope that we do see more in this world as well. But honestly, I’m on board to read whatever she writes! 4.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
I’m a big Helena Hunting fan, and Handle With Care is a great addition to the Shacking Up series.
Grumpy Lincoln has a lot of baggage with his dysfunctional family (that created his brother, Armstrong, the villain in the Shacking Up series that everyone loves to hate). His grumpiness is like his superpower. Good thing for him Wren is a fixer, and she’s got more than enough determination to handle his growling every day.
Handle With Care is well-written, witty, funny, full of heart and heat. It’s a fun read with strong lead characters and well-developed side characters. If you are looking for a great rom com, you need to pick up this book.
Handle With Care far exceeded my expectations! The perfect mix of family drama, romance, and an underlying mystery. This series just gets better with each book! The author did an amazing job of weaving the storyline and keeping me guessing until the truth was revealed, and even then I was still stunned and captivated as to how everything would unfold. I absolutely loved this book from start to finish!
The QUEEN of Rom-Com has done it again!!!
In case you didn’t know, I’m obsessed with Helena Hunting! She stole my heart with the Clipped Wings series, she owned my laughter with the Pucked series as well as the Shacking Up world. I’m convinced there’s nothing this woman can write that I wouldn’t read.
Hunting has a way of making you fall in love with her characters in a unique way. Her heroines are tough and strong and her alphas, heaven all mighty, I can’t get enough of them! I love Lincoln, Bane, Lex, hell, all of them so much!
I knew I was going to love Lincoln since the first book in the series. He’s mysterious, blunt, gorgeous and basically the definition of my kind of guy. He has such a good heart. I loved seeing his backstory and getting a deep understanding as to why he is the way he is. I especially loved his relationship with his grandma. The grandma is a force to be reckoned with all on her own. I love how smart and sneaky she is!
Wren is a PR consultant that knows how to handle image issues (and we all know it’s needed with Armstrong). She’s working to not only “handle” Armstrong but to help Lincoln with the transition of being CEO after being away for many years Lincoln is being forced to be the CEO of a company he wants nothing to do with but has no choice. Lincoln would rather be building houses anywhere instead of constantly dealing with family. To say he’s a bit of a grump due to this is putting it mildly.
Wren and Lincoln are explosive. I loved seeing their relationship progress. These two have a deep and raw connection and have become each other’s anchors. They have to lean on each other when the past comes tumbling down. It also has the Hunting touch of sizzling chemistry and exceptional banter.
This book was filled with moments that will have your belly hurting from laughing so hard. I laughed at the flying papers, it was such a perfectly written scene. I enjoyed seeing how frustrated Lincoln would get with Wren’s red lipstick stain.
The plot was fantastic, the characters were marvelous, everything about Handle with care is just perfection mixed with sexiness. Hunting never fails to deliver and exceed one’s expectations. She constantly delivers a great story with wonderful characters.
I can’t wait to see what she does with the next book. FIVE FREAKING STARS!!!!!!!
ARC was received via Netgalley by SMP in exchange for an honest review
Handle with Care was a great read. Lincoln and Wren had a story to tell and man was it a good one. Lincoln is the older brother of Armstrong and he must be saint to deal with that lunatic. After a tragedy brings him home, Lincoln is thrust into a situation he was not expecting. But Wren is there to help him manage. What started out as animosity turns into something neither were expecting. I enjoyed seeing their relationship progress as the story continues. Of course there were outside circumstances that seeped their way through and I was interested to see how it would all connect. Lincoln and Wren were just so good together. They were what each other needed and they found each other at the opportune time. They had a strong connection. It was fun, sweet, and sexy. Lincoln gives good swoon. They were a great couple. I also loved the connection that Lincoln had with the Mills especially Griffin. He could always count on them. While I’ve enjoyed all the Shacking Up books, Handle with Care just might be my favorite. It has the right amount of entertainment-sweet, sexy, laughter, and mystery. It grabbed my attention since the first page and I was invested until the end.
The latest hilarity from Helena Hunting is here!
HE WANTS TO LOSE CONTROL.
SHE’S TRYING TO HOLD IT TOGETHER.
Handle with Care is the final book in the Shacking Up series and a standalone romantic comedy with tons of banter, and broody alpha hero and a kickbutt heroine (quite literally).
Out now on all retailers!
Once again Helena Hunting does not disappoint! Handle with Care is a standalone story within her Shacking Up world.
The feelings I experienced while reading this book were all over the board…smiles, frustration, love, & so many laughs. And I can’t forget to say that it was also smoking HOT!!
I love this “world” that Helena has given us, the friendships & relationships she has created are some of my all-time favorites! I can’t wait to read what she has in store for us next!
If you haven’t read Helena yet, what are you waiting for?!?
Another hilarious rom-com from the Queen of ’em! Don’t miss a hate-to-love, enemies-to-lovers, office romance told as only Helen can!
Handle with Care was an amazing, heartwarming and swoon-worthy read. The chemistry between Wren and Lincoln was off the charts. Wren’s sassy attitude and Lincoln’s brooding yet playful demeanor kept me captivated. Helena Hunting never disappoints, I highly recommend any of her books especially the Shacking Up Series. I could not put this book down and I doubt you’ll be able to either!
4.5 stars!
From the moment I met Lincoln in the previous Shacking Up World books, I was intrigued by him. He spends his time in third world countries making life better for all who live there and is nothing like his brother or father, both who have questionable morals. After the passing of his father, Lincoln’s life is uprooted when he finds himself in NYC doing the last thing he wants his wants – running the family business.
Wren was brought in to handle Lincoln’s brother, Armstrong, who constantly gets into trouble and tarnishes the family name. She has done such an amazing job with him that she is kept on to help Lincoln transition. What follows is an entertaining and emotional romance between two wonderful characters who open their hearts to love, and I enjoyed every second of their journey!
Wren is strong, smart, and witty. She is a kickass heroine who hold holds her own and doesn’t let people push her around. She knows what she’s doing and she does it well!!
Lincoln is truly an amazing person. I loved where his heart is, and it’s endearing when he lets his insecurities shine through.
“Please, be someone I can count on, Wren. I need you to be that for me.” His thumb brushes along my knuckles, and his voice drops to a whisper. “Just please.”
He is real and relatable, and I fell a little harder each time he opened up. He is challenged in his new position and I loved his growth as he fully accepts everything thrown his way.
Wren and Lincoln start off on the wrong foot. The banter is fantastic and they give as good as they get as Wren tries to “handle” Lincoln. Even though they fight a lot in the beginning, it’s clear they are both good people and they end up working well together. A friendship slowly forms and then turns into more as the sexual tension becomes too hard to fight.
Lincoln and Wren are electric together and I believed their attraction. Their chemistry is palpable and their connection is real. They are a fantastic mix of sweet, swoony, and sexy, and I loved when they finally get together. They are a wonderfully functioning couple with full trust, acceptance, and a whole lot of love.
The storyline is well thought out and there were twists I didn’t see coming. They were shocking but worked well with the story. I loved the way the truth was revealed and I appreciated that the reactions were not over the top but rather mature and real.
The ending is everything I wanted and more. It ties everything together and gives us a future to believe in. I love that the characters are true to themselves as well as with each other. Relationships grow stronger and I enjoyed the new developments that fit well within the story.
Overall, I really enjoyed Handle with Care, and as I turned the last page, it was with a huge smile on my face and a new, sweet couple in my heart.
“You know, Wren, until you came along, I didn’t think love like this was possible.”
I smile up at him. “You just needed someone who could handle how amazing you are.”
Anyone whose read Helena Hunting’s Shacking Up series knows just how much of a douchebag Armstrong Moorehead is; he’s a horrible human being and the fact that Wren Sterling had to spend the last eight months reshaping his less than stellar reputation had to have been an hellacious job because one can only ‘handle’ so much from a man like Armstrong. And I have to say, if I was Wren and asked to now ‘handle’ Armstrong’s allusive older brother, Lincoln, I would have probably ran like hell away from any further interactions with the Moorehead family. But Wren is unable to refuse her new handler position, and while it’s already not an ideal situation, it becomes even worse when their first interaction is in less than stellar circumstances.
First impressions definitely go a long way in both the professional and personal realms, and let’s just say that Wren is not that impressed with Linc and the feeling is absolutely mutual. But as much as they verbally spar with each other, what’s also clear is just how perfect they are for one another, which means that even though they start off as mostly enemies, when they finally figure out who each one is underneath the snark and control, they see the person who brings them everything they never knew they wanted and needed.
I can’t say I blame Lincoln for wanting no part in his family’s business. There’s a reason he hasn’t stepped foot in New York for quite some time or seen his parents and brother. Lincoln’s nothing like them, and he wants to keep it that way…too bad he doesn’t seem to have a choice in the matter.
The drama created by almost every member of Linc’s family is crazy, and I’m not talking minor tantrums or simple lewd situations; I’m talking huge secrets and horrendous behavior that will categorically change a slew of situations and circumstances. And while I did feel like some of the details were a bit too over-the-top, the fact that the Moorehead family had unlimited cash to do with as they saw fit means that it’s feasible they thought they’d get away with whatever they chose to do.
Handle with Care is a fitting title for Linc and Wren’s story, not only because that’s what Wren has been tasked with, starting with Armstrong and now Lincoln as he figures out how to run a company he never wanted any part in. Like the other books in the series, there’s a great mix of steamy, hilarious, romantic, and dramatic scenes that will provide readers with hours of reading pleasure and the fact that every hero in the Shacking Up series is definite book boyfriend material only adds to the enjoyment.

The final installment in the Shacking up series was hilariously funny. A page turning enemies to lovers story told via Helena’s one of a kind style. Loved it!

I absolutely love this series and the characters. Each book is unique and so fun, full of laugh out loud moments and feels. I loved this work place romance.
Lincoln never wanted to work in the family business. He is not close with any of his family but when his father passes away he no choice to come home. Wren works for with Lincoln’s family and helps keep his brother in line. Now part of her job is to help Lincoln. Things get interesting, she has no clue what to expect.
These two don’t get a long. The banter between these two had me laughing a times. When they finally give in to the attraction they are the perfect couple. I loved this series and sad its over. If your looking for a fun, fast read you need these books. They can be read as a standalone but you don’t want to miss all these fun characters. Must Read!
