It started with a window that was jammed shut. Pretty simple, right? All I wanted was to open the windows while I tidied the house. I’d been after my no-good husband to do it for months, but he never did. And then he shacked up with his secretary, leaving me with a pile of bills, husband-free for the first time in ten years, and with a house that was falling apart.
The ad popped up on the side of my social media feed—a local contracting agency willing to do pretty much anything. Since I don’t really know a screwdriver from a ratchet, I gave them a call.
And let me tell you, the ad was NOT lying. Jesse O’Neill can do it ALL…and looks amazing doing it.
He fixed my window, so I called him back to fix the sagging, splintery front steps. Which led to him fixing my kitchen sink. And then he recarpeted my stairs. And then fixed the squeak in my bed.
He was supposed to fix my house, not my rusty, sputtering libido. And certainly not my broken heart.

I love that this book is about adults in their 40’s.
I really liked it! Clever and witty.
Exactly like i enjoy!
Imogen the main character of the story, has really low self esteem of herself. She is more of a fluffier girl when you read about her. She’s always putting herself down. Mainly due to her ex-husband, that is what he always did to her, put her down. Imogen works super hard at her clinic she’s at. She is a nurse, and does ok for herself. Her job is supposed to be 40 hrs a week, however, she’s working 60 or 80 hr weeks! She’s not appreciated at work by her boss she’s been loyal to for a long time.
One day she just gets fed up with life. She goes home, and she tries to open a window, to get air flow into the house, but, can’t. She winds up breaking the window instead. One more thing to add to her list of items to fix. Imogen see’s an add for a handy man company……

She contacts them to have someone come out to give her an estimate, and is surprised when someone comes out at 7pm. When she see’s the man who they send out she’s beyond shocked! Jesse is not a small man, towering above her and filling the doorway of her house, she isn’t sure what to except out of Jesse. He’s tall and burly and tattooed! Jesses checks out what she needs repaired and knows she can’t afford much but he’s willing to work with her.
Jesse likes Imogen but, he’s also had his own heart ache in his life. Imogen isn’t sure what to do with Jesse, she’s never had someone treat her nicely. She’s always been the one that was never treated right. She is shying away from Jesse and is afraid to take things too far, as she doesn’t know what he expects out of her. Jesse is the same way, he doesn’t know what to expect with Imogen. He likes her. But, since she’s is fresh out of a divorce he doesn’t want to be the rebound person in her life. He wants to stick around and be with her.
Jasinda did it again. Great book. She has become one of my go to writers. Her books….love them.
I laughed out loud when he was cleaning her cut. I’m a fixer upper, I need a contractor. Them being older rocks. They were closer to my age instead of my daughters. Don’t get me wrong, I fantasize with all the other books. I’m just younger, thinner, more flexible. When I read them.
I always enjoy Jasinda’s characters. It was refreshing to read about a couple in their forties. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Great “next book” in the series. Can’t wait for release of the next one. Very eentertaining. Couldn’t out it down till I read the whole book. Highly recommend.
Fantastic book. I highly recommend.
It was refreshing to read a book without bland millionaires with unrealistic lifestyles. It was even better to read a story about mature adults.
So I loved this story. It is a slower burn story. The characters get to know each other and build a real relationship and then fall into bed. Which in this case is a wonderful thing.
Imogen is out of a marriage that left her feeling low about herself. She isn’t looking for anything in the relationship part of her life and is just trying to get her house together. The house her husband wanted and left her with. So when she breaks a window trying to open it, she has no idea what to do.
While looking online she comes across an ad for Dad Bod Contracting. When she calls they send someone right away.
Jesse is freaking awesome. He works with his hands, has a rocking body, and listens. He and Imogen have instant chemistry and are just wonderful together. Even when Imogen feels less about herself he is there to pick her up. I loved that.
This is a wonderful story and I can’t wait for the next one! Jasinda did such a great job!!
I love steamy and Jasinda always delivers with characters you care about!
Can never go wrong with a book by JW!
This was an easy read. Liked the characters. Wasn’t the most original, but good for a summer read.
Fun!
Brace yourselves, your kindle is about to be SCORCHING!
The chemistry and slow, slow burn in this book is OFF THE CHARTS! Hammered by Jasinda Wilder is magnetic, charismatic and all in all an amazing read. I couldn’t put it down and loved every brilliant minute of it.
In Hammered, you are introduced to the men of Dad Bod Contracting and let me tell you, each one is as sexy and captivating as the next. I couldn’t help but have an appreciation and love for all of them. Each character snags your attention and you get excited for each one’s story.
Jesse O’Neill is the lead man in Hammered and he is going to knock your socks off. I loved his charm, his big beautiful heart, and how he wants to help Imogen fix up her house so it feels like a home. The chemistry between these two is HOT, it’s like everything around them is set on fire. I enjoyed getting to know these characters and watching them grow together, it was mesmerizing.
So if you love a book that pulls you in, hooks you and keeps things interesting through the whole book, you’re going to go crazy over this one. It’s so fun, romantic, and just a pleasurable read.
I give Hammered by Jasinda Wilder 5 out of 5 DIZZY STARS!
Oh my talk about a whole lot of HOTNESS going on in this book!
I honestly thought Imogen and Jesse were a PERFECT match. He was sexy as sin and hot damn, I can understand why he had the body he did, all thanks to that handy job of his!
Imogen wasn’t blind and was admiring that sexy beast when he came to her house to give her an estimate on her broken window. From that point on, Imogen took it upon herself to try and call every time something was wrong with her money pit of a home that her ex was nice enough to leave her with. But I guess you can say it’s a good thing that house needed a whole lot of fixing to do!!
This is honestly my first Jasinda Wilder book. Even though I’ve heard so much of her and have seen her at author events, I never did get a chance to read any of her books until now and I’m seriously upset at myself that I waited this long to finally read her.
Hammered is the the first book in a new series and HOLY SMOKES, I can’t wait to continue reading about these sexy hard working men.
This book felt totally real especially since the people aren’t rich, sophisticated and narcissistic. These are people with hard earning pay jobs, who have real life struggles. I enjoyed this book so much. I loved Imogen, she was just so damn witty, I loved her boldness and how her friendship evolved with Jesse, but it started off in a nice pace between them.
I am super excited to continue this series!!
This is a ridiculously HOT book! Do yourself a favor and read it! I love over 40 romance, thank you, Jasinda!!!
Oh My….This book is SCORCHING HOT!!! Imogen and Jesse together set these pages on fire. Who knew that a broken window could land you a hot dad bod handyman on your doorstep!?!? This is just what Imogen needs after the fact that her cheating ass husband leaves her broke and with a fixer upper house that needs more work than she can afford. Jesse the HOT AF handyman to the rescue. He’s funny, flirtatious, and really good with his hands. When these two get together be prepared for some serious hotness.
Jasinda Wilder never lets her readers down and she did a phenomenal job on Hammered. I loved the fact that this is a romantic comedy with both characters that over 40 and they heat the pages up with their HOT AF sex!!! This is such a great start to a new series that I am looking forward to getting more of. I can’t wait to get my hands on Drilled.
This is another must read that I am HIGHLY recommending.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
I received a free copy of this book from the author.
This is such a fun read. It’s short – well at least to me. HA! Y’all probably know by now I read fast. I finished this book in less than a day. In this first book in the new series – Dad Bod Construction – we meet Jesse and Imogen. She’s a recently divorcee and he’s a construction worker for Dad Bod.
Imogen is more than a little gun shy about anything romantic with this guy. Her divorce has been final for a month but what is a reasonable time to start something new? Their attraction is off the chart though and it’s hard to hold back!
You’ll want to hug him and shake her during this book. For real. There was a time when I could have just smacked her upside the head and said “GET A CLUE!” LOL
I received an arc for this story so I’m not sure if the final edition will have some of the issues I found while reading this book. There were timeline issues, a random character name popped out of nowhere, and then there was an thing with the sink that I was thinking the whole time this can’t happen the water is shut off! So just know the final version may not have these issues. It just glared at me so blatantly while reading I felt like if it was in the final y’all would be upset. Just know it doesn’t change the characters nor the over all story. That’s still pretty darn awesome.
I always admire how Jasinda can write in so many genres, but you can always hear her voice. According to GoodReads this is my book #48 by Jasinda and I can say it was been as good as always.
Dad Bod characters are not your common romance characters. They are in their forties, so it’s so much easier to relate to them.
Jasse and Imogen chemistry is of the charts and their banter is amazing! I read the whole book with a smile on my face.
Hammered is a great introduction to the series and I can’t wait to read more.
