I didn’t mean to kidnap the groom. It was an accident.Mostly…At least I didn’t take much time to plan it. It was more of a spur of the moment kidnapping. Does that count? One minute, the town’s bad boy is standing at the altar about to marry the world’s most evil kindergarten teacher. The next, he’s passed out in my Vespa sidecar with his bride hot on our tail. But I didn’t have a choice! I … tail.
But I didn’t have a choice! I couldn’t stand by and watch Jace O’Dell be blackmailed into a loveless marriage. And besides, what’s a little kidnapping between friends?
Okay, so maybe we’re not just friends…
And maybe I can’t quit thinking about that night at his bar when he closed up early and had me on the rocks.
And maybe this crazy stunt is going to blow up in both of our faces.
If it does, I’m blaming the moonshine.
Even though the only thing I’m hammered on when it comes to Jace is love—straight up, no chaser.

Hammered by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente is book Two in the Happy Cat Series. This is the story of Jace O’Dell and Olivia Moonbeam. I have red the previous book, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Jace when he was younger made some dump choices but now he is the owner of The Wild Hog and works to make better decision in his life, no longer wanting to be the joke of the town. One thing is a on / off relationship with Ginger but its been off for about two months now. Jace know that she isn’t what he wants any more because he starting to have feelings for Olivia. Olivia and Jace had a hot encounter but then who walks back into Jace life…Ginger. Olivia thought to step aside but that didn’t last and now she is out to save Jace.
Enjoyed their story…it was actually had some really funny parts that kept me turning the pages.
Well Done! Really enjoying this quirky group of characters from Happy Cat.
This was an entertaining story with strange pets and lots of laughs!
Olivia was incredibly quirky but seemed genuine and a little out there but she had some great friends and is Jace going to be one of them!?? The towns resident bad boy!!
Poor Jace, I thought perhaps some certain people in the town were out to get him!
Im really not too sure I’d want to live in that town due to the way some people behave but you’d certainly have stories to tell what with all the antics that go on!
This book will have you laughing, commiserating and thinking about certain creatures! A great fun read!
4.5
This book was crazy good. I love the wonky world of Pippa Grant, but add in Lili Valente and it’s a fun new adventure! I fell for Jace and Olive. They’re so perfect for one another and the craziness is all the better for this HEA.
I highly recommend this romance!
Welcome back to Happy Cat, the small town with a big personality. Home to a sexy times toy factory, phallic football (hoping to avoid the Zon algo here) and four-legged characters whose personalities are as big and quirky as their two-legged counterparts. George Cooney, our favorite raccoon, is in good company with Princess von Spooksalot, the timid hedgehog, and Sir Pendleton, World Class Inspector, the taxidermy squirrel in a vest, trench coat and moustache.
Jace is the hot bartender in town, who has a bit of a reputation for messing up. Just ask his brother who’s bailed him out of jail numerous times. But in Jace’s defense, Deputy Rotten, er, Roten, is still sore from a high school prank. Jace thinks his life may be finally turning around when he starts getting to know the free-spirited, loveable Olivia Moonbeam and they share a night where their soul each recognizes its other half. Then the worst mean girl you’ve ever seen throws a monkey wrench in things, as if there isn’t already enough mayhem for the citizens of Happy Cat.
If you’ve just finished a dark read, life has you down, or you just need a good laugh or fifty, this is the book for you. With hilarious zaniness, a sizzling romance, eternally endearing, quirky characters (both two and four-legged) and a mean girl you’ll love to hate, this one will squeeze your heart, make you erupt with laughter and leave you with a smile in your heart and a grin on your face.
*I reviewed an advance copy of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide a review and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source for this review.
This is a return trip to the quaint town of Happy Cat and another O’Dell brother’s HEA. Jace is the typical bad boy bar owner with a good heart. Olivia Moonbeam is a transplant from LA and works at the local sex toy shop when not moon bathing. You wouldn’t think these two would mesh but the chemistry is undeniable. This is a fanciful story full of witty banter, perverted sidekicks, a bit of deceit and a she shed! I enjoyed the secondary animal characters, especially the precious Princess and the stoic Sir Pendleton. This series is fun and brings us back to the towns people I fell in love with in Hosed.
It was so much fun to return to Happy Cat Georgia and catch up on the fine folks that live there. This is book 2 in this series but they are standalone so no worries if you missed book 1 although trust me you will want to read it. So funny. So, now we are on to Jace and Olivia’s somewhat unromantic hookup. Poor Jace, he has been in trouble most of his life and his long term on again, off again girlfriend Ginger won’t seem to let him move on with his life. Just when he finds the perfect person for him, Olivia, wouldn’t you know that the universe swoops in and kicks him in his sensitive parts or so it seems. Thank goodness Olivia has other plans.
This is the funniest series. These characters both human and furry are laugh out loud, pee your pants comedy. Taking Lili Valente and Pippa Grant and pairing them up to write this book/series is a powerhouse of hilarious. Not to give any of the story away but I just love George, Princess, and Chewpaca. They could write a story about the fur babies told from their perspectives and I would love to read it. The great thing about this book is it’s not only so funny and so well written but it has a unconventional love story that is perfect for Jace and Olivia. I absolutely loved it.
I received an early copy to read and review and give my honest opinion. I love it! I highly recommend it! and I can’t wait for the next book, fingers crossed it will be soon because I have fell in love with Happy Cat Georgia and all the residence that live there.
Totally Hilarious… The authors have given us a very well written RomCom that will keep you laughing and smiling throughout. As for the characters, they are just delightful, a little zany, but delightful all the same.
Jace and Olivia’s souls knew they were meant for each other the first time they met. Jace is the town’s Bad Boy who owns a local bar. Olivia is a little different from most folks as she see the good in everything and believes in spiritual auras. She also works at the town’s Sex Toy Factory.
Jace and Olivia have a wild night and both think they have found their soul mates, right up until morning comes. The next day Jace’s on again off again girlfriend comes back into his life and basically blackmails him into taking her back and marrying her. So he breaks it off with Olivia, breaking both their hearts in the process. But Olivia overhears some facts that could change the course of their lives. But time is running out. So she does the only thing she knows to do.. She sets out to stop the wedding. However, she ends up sorta kidnapping the drunk groom. This sets off a hilarious string of events. Events including a crazy raccoon, a smitten Alpaca, an neurotic hedgehog and an abandoned clown factory. Yes, that all sounds ridiculous but believe me it all ties together in a very well storyline and will have you literally laughing out loud.
Kudos to the author for a job well done. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 stars for a funny romcom that I highly recommend grabbing up asap. You won’t be sorry you did.
We are back in Happy Cat with the second book by Pippa Grant and Lili Valente. Jace O’Dell has the reputation as the town screw up. He seems to be getting his life together, he owns a bar and is out of his dysfunctional relationship with on again off again girlfriend Ginger. He takes a chance one night with his crush Olivia Moonbeam. Olivia’s personality fits her name. She sees auras, uses crystals and is perpetually happy. But the path to true love is thwarted by Jace’s ex. Throw in an amorous hedgehog, a put upon stuffed squirrel and a lovelorn Alpaca and you have another hilarious book by Pippa and Lili. I love both of these characters and cannot wait for the next book in the series. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.
I haven’t read the first book in the series but that did not detract from my enjoyment of Hammered.
I have to say that when I read the blurb for this book I quickly put my hand up to read and review. It sounded so intriguing. Especially since the hero is Jace O’Dell a local bad boy who owns a bar and Olivia Moonbeam (just love the name) who despite being classified as a “good” girl works at a sex toy factory.
This is the first collaboration from these two authors that I have read and if this book is anything to go by I will be checking out their other work as soon as possible. I have no idea where one author ended and the other commenced.
Jace and Olivia are opposites and this makes for some laugh out loud moments throughout the book. Hammered is a great example of romantic comedy at it’s best; the romance is at times swoon worthy and there was also enough drama and quirkiness to make the story one that I couldn’t put down.
Jace is often miss-understood and I think he was just what Olivia needed to be honest. Hammered is a light hearted and entertaining read that will engage you and keep you riveted from the first to the last chapter.
4.5 Stars for Hammered this very entertaining funny read which is book 2 in the Happy Cat Series.
Jace O’Dell is the hot as hell bad-boy local bar owner and Olivia Moonbeam works for the towns sex toy factory, you might say a match made in heaven but on the face of it these two have very different personalities, she sees good in everyone and everything and he is often misunderstood and judged harshly but he is the one who understands Olivia better than most in this small town romance.
This book is full of laugh out loud moments normally connected to some crazy wildlife like the smitten alpaca but Jace and Olivia’s story is also a romance it’s a romantic comedy with a few twists and turns along the way as two people find themselves as they get to know each other. I swooned and I smiled and I’m sure like me you will be left smiling like a Cheshire Cat if you take a chance and one click this loveable read.
There are no words for how much I loved this book! Pippa Grant is a go-to author for me and I was so excited to read this one! I would love to live in Happy Cat, GA! There is nothing about this book I would change (and I don’t usually read books with one of the main themes in this one). I laughed so much I made my stomach hurt! There is so much humor, heat, and heart in this story! FIVE PRINCESS STARS!!
*** 3.5 Stars ***
Hammered by Pippa Grant and Lili Valente is a quirky, contemporary, small town, romantic comedy told in first person, dual POV. It is book two in the Happy Cat series and can be read as a standalone. It’s not necessary to read Hosed first, although doing so enhances the reading experience when previous characters appear.
Jace is the town bad boy and screw up. Olivia is an eccentric hippie chick. After a spontaneous and pleasurable encounter, both are smitten and excited about the possibility of a future together. Then Jace’s on-again-off-again girlfriend, Ginger, drops a bomb that forces him to make some tough choices, and he’s determined to do the right thing. Olivia struggles to control her feelings for Jace, but pretty soon he’ll be the groom in a shot-gun wedding. So what’s a girl to do? Kidnap the groom, of course!
Overall, I enjoyed this story and thought the characters were likeable. I really loved Jace, but Olivia was such an oddball that I had some difficulty relating to her although I liked her. Full of zany humor, unusual animals, quirky townsfolk, and a touch of suspense, this was a quick, fun read.
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
Quirkiness Galore! Hammered is full of adorable animals, quirky characters and lots of laughs!
In the small town of Happy Cat, Jace O’Dell is known as the “Bad Boy O’Dell”. With a history of bad decisions and poor choices I suppose Jace is the black sheep of the O’Dell family, even though he now runs a successful business and really hasn’t done anything wrong in years, aside from being in a toxic relationship. It is during one of his off-again breakups that he finally has some clarity about just how toxic his relationship with Ginger has been when Olivia Moonbeam is sitting in his bar. Olivia is the complete opposite of Ginger in every way and honestly makes Jace feel happy and good about himself. Even more than that, he likes her and the more he thinks about how much he likes her he comes to realize that he has liked Olivia for awhile, he just wasn’t able to act on it due to his relationship status with Toxic Ginger. Well….that is about to change.
Olivia Moonbeam might be known as the town’s cooky girl, but Jace appreciates everything about her. He always looks past her quirks and just sees her. One night while sitting in his bar, they might get a little hammered and confess their feelings, but that doesn’t mean their feelings weren’t real…does it? Unfortunately, karma comes waltzing back in in the shape of Jace’s ex and like the good man he is he goes back to her. It doesn’t lessen the pain, but Olivia doesn’t mess with karma. That is until Jace really needs rescuing. Like from the alter. On his wedding day. Sorry karma.
Hammered, is so much fun. You will love it if you love laugh out loud romcom’s filled with a ton of silly scenarios. Hammered is labeled as the second in the Happy Cat series, but I haven’t had a chance to read Hosed yet (sad, but it just hasn’t worked into my TBR schedule yet) however, I had no trouble jumping into the Happy Cat world and reading Hammered as a complete standalone.
Once again, these two authors are simply amazing together!! I LOVED this book so hard! The story and the writing is pure RomCom perfection! I chuckled, snickered and full on belly laughed so much it was a good thing I read in private or people would have thought I was loony! If a person could have a human for a spirit animal I would want Olivia to be mine! She is the absolute embodiment of free spiritedness and quirkiness and I positively love and adore her. Jace is, well he’s amazing and unfortunately complicated. At first he is stuck in a situation it doesn’t seem he can get out of until Olivia comes along and rescues him and makes him want everything he thought he could never have. But it won’t be that easy!
Cameos from George Cooney had me in stitches as well as the antics involving newcomers Princess von Spooksalot and Sir Pendleton Macavoy, Investigator at Large! What wonderful imaginations these writers have that make reading such fun!
The story of the wonderful sweet and sexy love Jace and Olivia find among all of this chaos in Happy Cat, has made me one happy reader!
Welcome back to the quirky town of Happy Cat. This small town of full of romance and fun individuals.
Jace has a reputation as the town bad boy and Olivia is the good girl, though she is also on the eccentric side of life. Two people who seem so different but yet, somehow, they are perfect for each other. Jace and Olivia have an instant connection, they are both drawn to each other.
Of course, Jace’s on and off again relationship with Ginger is back on, despite Jace not feeling any sort of attraction to Ginger, he is trying to be a good man when she says she is pregnant with his baby. He wants to be there and make things work for the sake of his unborn child. Olivia is hurt, she had on magical night with Jace and now she can’t stop thinking about him, she can’t stop wanting him.
Well these two crazy residents of Happy Cat get happily ever after they deserve?
I died of laughter throughout this entire story. I couldn’t put it down. I loved how caring and loving Olivia is for every person and animal she meets. Of course, she would adopt a hedgehog and befriend an adorable Alpaca, plus the town trash panda, George Cooney.
I love Pippa Grant and I love Lili Valente but together they create pure, laugh out loud, rom com gold! This is a MUST READ for any fans of quirky towns, hilarious rom coms or you’re just looking for a different type of romance.
Genius! Absolute pure gold! This is second O’Dell brother’s book and it is every bit as funny, feisty, and satisfying as the first book, Hosed. It brings on the laughter, and reading this story will just make you feel literally make your face hurt (from smiling).
This book begins along the first book’s timeline, in town of Sunshine. Jace O’Dell is the hot as sin bad-boy bar owner. He is misunderstood and judged unfairly, and understands the eclectic and peace-loving Olivia more than anyone in the town. She is light and innocence and everything that he feels that he doesn’t deserve.
Olivia works for the town’s sex toy factory. She is good to everyone that she meets, but knows that most people see her as “different”. She believes in the best of humanity and really tries hard to make a difference in the community. However, she is also accident prone and always seems to find herself in trouble. After the farmer’s market incident, she prepares to drown her sorrows in a drink or two. One drink leads to two, and two leads to a night of passion that she just can’t forget. The universe has delivered her soul mate, and then just as quickly rips it away.
Jace has a past, and he doesn’t believe that destiny will ever allow him to be truly happy with a woman. He’s been attracted to Olivia since the first time she entered his bar, but she is too good for him. He settles for the rocky relationship with his on-again off-again girlfriend, believing that it is the best he will ever get. Until the gorgeous and eccentric Olivia spends the evening lamenting her mistakes in his bar, and lightning strikes the minute their lips touch.
Just when Jace things that he might just deserve happiness, his ex-girlfriend drops a bomb, and he is faced with a tough choice. He takes a step back, but the universe just keeps throwing them back together. When Olivia discovers his Ex’s twisted game, she decides to fight for the man she loves. This book contains a crazy raccoon, a smitten alpaca, naked moon bathing, and a kidnapping. It is a story that you will not put down until the very last sentence is finished.
Once again, two of my most favorite authors have teamed up and brought another awesome book to life. They take us back to Happy Cat and this time we get Olivia Moonbeam and Jace O’Dell’s story.
Olivia is Cassie’s friend and Jace is Ryan’s brother, we met those two in Hosed and they feature in this follow on quite heavily, as does the adorable George Cooney. Add in a stuffed squirrel and a pet hedgehog and you just know this is going to be a laugh a minute whirlwind of a story.
Jace has finally escaped from his toxic on/off relationship with Ginger, and when Olivia gets a little too tipsy, they have one heck of a hook up. It’s insta-love and things look like they will be plain sailing for the two of them, but fate’s cruel at times and this is one of them.
She’s sent a zinger of a bump in the road in the shape of Ginger and this time she’s out to get him down the aisle.
There are some unexpected twists and turns to this rom/com that could almost push it into the suspense category. But, although things take a turn for the worse, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, if only Olivia can find it.
Jace and Olivia have the kind of connection both had dreamed of but never knew was out there just waiting for them. I swooned and smiled with every page these two shared. I never wanted it to end. It did though and I’m more than satisfied with the conclusion. I just loved this book so darned much and you will too.
Not only do I want to live in Happy Cat (well I’d settle with a fun vacation there too) but I also REALLY want Olivia for a friend. I love that woman! She is fun, unique, and so sweet how could you not love her?? I love how she calls Jace her Kindred P***s and she talks to stuffed squirrels. And who doesn’t love an adorable hedgehog named Princess von spooksalot?? We can’t forget Jace either. What’s not to love about him? Okay well because of Ginger (BOO) he starts out as a walking doormat. He just can’t seem to build up the balls to stop her conniving. Liv makes him SUCH a better person. Clowns, an alpaca named Chewpaca, more of the O’Dell brothers… what’s not to love. These two great ladies have created a masterpiece again. Go back to Happy Cat and read this book. Can’t wait for more!! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review. *
*I received a free copy from the author to read and review*
After reading Hosed, I was sooo looking forward to this book. And I have to say, I loved it even more! Jace, oh my goodness, is super hot. He’s the town bad boy and has gotten into quite a bit if trouble with the law. But he is still incredibly caring and sweet. I love how honorable he is, even if it tends to be misplaced.
Olivia is a beautiful soul. While she may seem weird to some, it’s only in the very best way. More people should be as kind, selfless, accepting, and charitable as Olivia Moonbeam. Even when she decides to save Jace, she does it for his own well-being. Whether it means they’ll be together or not. And her nurturing spirit is so admirable, especially when it comes to abandoned animals (including stuffed ones).
Jace and Olivia balance each other out so well. She finds family and acceptance with him and he sees how good and worthy he is through her eyes. Gah! I just love them both so much!
The story reminded me a lot of Royally Pucked and a but of Rockaway Bride, but with more suspense mixed in. Even with a rotten villain or two, Hammered was full of moments that had me literally laughing out loud. This is a book I will reread because every minute of it was enjoyable.
