I didn’t mean to kidnap the groom. It was an accident.Mostly…At least I didn’t take much time to plan it. It was more of a spur of the moment kidnapping. Does that count? One minute, the town’s bad boy is standing at the altar about to marry the world’s most evil kindergarten teacher. The next, he’s passed out in my Vespa sidecar with his bride hot on our tail. But I didn’t have a choice! I … tail.
But I didn’t have a choice! I couldn’t stand by and watch Jace O’Dell be blackmailed into a loveless marriage. And besides, what’s a little kidnapping between friends?
Okay, so maybe we’re not just friends…
And maybe I can’t quit thinking about that night at his bar when he closed up early and had me on the rocks.
And maybe this crazy stunt is going to blow up in both of our faces.
If it does, I’m blaming the moonshine.
Even though the only thing I’m hammered on when it comes to Jace is love—straight up, no chaser.

I am a big fan of Pippa Grant, but it was my first time reading a book by Lili Valente and I loved it. Hammered is funny, a bit crazy, well written and smart. Not to mention the charming residents of Happy Cat.
It is the second book in the Happy Cat series and you don’t need to read the first (Hosed, I haven’t) to understand the story, but you will want to.

What to say about this book…. FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!!! I have so many feels with this book. I LOVE Princess! How these two authors add such adorable animals into their books and make them true characters is amazing. With cameo appearances from past characters, and George, I just love it!!
Title: Hammered
Author: Pippa Grant and Lili Valente
Format: Ebook
Genre: Romance – Comedy, small town
Standalone: yes
Part of a Series: Not sure if it has a name but it’s the second book featuring the O’Dell brothers in Happy Cat
POV: Jace and Olivia
Steam Level: toasty at times
5/5
I adore Pippa Grant (and now Lili Valente) and her (their) outrageousness. I always know that when I pick up one her (their) books I’ll be thoroughly entertained and Hammered was no exception. George Cooney continues to shine along with Chewpaca and the rest of the memorable characters in Happy Cat, GA. If you’re looking for a romantic comedy full of animals that steal the show then pick up Hammered. You’ll be glad you did.
Pippa and Lilli, are awesome together.
Their imagination is so great that you will love this story from the first to the last word.
Jace O’dell, is a bad boy turned bar owner who has been in love with Olive Moonbeam, from the first time she walked into the Wild Hog.
To most people she’s the crazy girl, who carries stones around and talk about everyone’s aura.
To him, she’s the most special, kind, wouldn’t hurt a soul, beautiful woman.
When she comes to his bar and tried to drowned her sorrows, Jace, gives her what he assumed is a weak drink but soon finds out the Dr Pepper is actually spiked and since he’s been drinking it to, things get a little heated
They can finally be together, until Jace’s ex comes back into the picture claiming she’s pregnant with his baby
This is a hilarious story with an alpaca , hedgehog , and of course everyone’s favorite George Cooney .
Can’t wait for the next book. I already love it.
Olivia wants Jace, the sweet bartender who is sooo wrong for his on-again off-again girlfriend, Ginger. And she thinks she’s finally gotten her chance at being with him when they have a hot night after a heavy makeout session at his bar. But when he delivers news of his on-again off-again’s pregnancy the next morning, she knows she has to get over him. Thank God for her newfound pet hedgehog.
But when she finds that he’s set on marrying Ginger, to do the right thing, can this Moonbeam let him do it? Can she really let her one go?
Aww Hammered is sweet, zany fun. Olivia and Jace are so adorable together. Their chemistry is electric, and when you mix in the crazy raccoon George Cooney, Chewpaca the alpaca, and of course Princess the hedgehog, what the authors give the reader is one hot, sweet, LOL read. I haven’t had so much fun reading in a long time!
This is the second book from this writing duo and I for 1, cannot wait for more!
This story has everything you would want in a romantic comedy, plus, oh so much more.
From Hedgehogs to an alpaca to an abandoned clown school to the return of George Cooney!
Hammered is the second book in the Happy Cat series (still a hilarious name for a town) and it follows Jace and Olivia. But most importantly George Cooney, Princess von Spooksalot and Sir Pendleton Macavoy, Investigator at Large. That’s right, George has got some new friends in the form of a hedgehog and a taxidermied squirrel. If you’ve read the previous book you’ll know that George is a riot and saves the day. And he’s back at it again. We don’t see as much of him because Princess and Sir Pendleton take centre stage. Both of whom are Olivia’s pets on her journey to finding love with Jace whilst dodging a crazy girlfriend, hedgehog nappers, a creepy cop and the general zaniness of the Happy Cat residents.
So I mean you could pretend you’re reading Hammered for Jace and Olivia who are actually the main characters. But let’s be real, you’re reading it for George Cooney, the real hero.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book
Another great story and book in the series.
So many lol moments and sexy scenes, great characters and interesting twists, fast paced and well written story, this book was just the perfect read for a romantic comedy that I was craving.
If you read the authors books before, you won’t be wrong in picking this one either. Never disappointed.
Love both of these authors so much. Crazy laugh out loud moments. Another fun trip to Happy Cat. Jace O’Dell owner/bartender and the Wild Hog and Olivia Moonbeam the flighty scooter driving tour guide to the Happy Cat sex toy factory. Olivia and Jace have a wild night at the bar and on the way home they find a stuff squirrel who is named Sir Pendelton Macalvoy and princess the hedgehog. Then things spiral out of control when Ginger (Jaces on again off again girlfriend) currently off finds out. The rest is total chaos No Spoilers…..did love to hear that George Clooney the raccoon is still alive and well.
Bad Boy Jace O’Dell and Free Spirit Olivia Moonbeam are hot, sexy and completely swoon-worthy. Jace is tired of the on again off again relationship he is currently in and he meets Olivia and knows she’s the one. Olivia thought Jace was the one until he calls it off, because his ex says she pregnant. Jace doesn’t think he deserves Olivia because he’s been a bad boy since his teenage years, but Olivia knows he’s the one. When she discovers that the ex is playing games can she stop Jace before everything goes to far? Will they get their happily ever after?
I love these Pippa Grant / Lili Vallente books and I hope there’s another one!
Jace and Olivia stole my heart from the beginning. Jace thinks very poorly of himself due to his younger year shenanigans. Olivia only sees the good in him. This is book 2 of the series written by Pippa and Lili.
I truly enjoyed going back to Happy Cat. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the characters and town. Jace owns a bar and Olivia is the “odd duck” of the town. While they don’t seem picture perfect on paper, they absolutely are. They are both giving and want everyone around to be happy – even at the expense of their selves.
This book is a HEA and I can’t wait to find out what happens with the other characters. I LOVED catching up with previous characters and seeing George Cooney again! I highly recommend Pippa and Lili!!
Hammered (Happy Cat#2) by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente Even though this is book 2, it can be read as a standalone. I didn’t know this was a series till I went to mark it as currently reading. Jace O’Dell is the town screw up. One night at his bar he ends up spending time with Olivia. She is very quirky and the townspeople think she is odd. However Jace has a things for her but he thinks she is out of his league. After having a few drinks they end up hooking up but it is short lived due to Ginger, Jace’s off and on again girlfriend. He wanted to be with Olivia but Ginger isn’t having it. Let the antics begin. This was a extremely entertaining story. Absolutely comical. I loved the characters especially Olivia. She is an absolute hoot. The entire town is funny. I am definitely going to be reading book 1 which is about Jace’s older brother Ryan. The town is called Happy Cat; it should be called Crazyville. If you’re looking for a story that has you laughing from the beginning to end, this is the book. Loved it! 4.5 stars for me.
A hot bartender, a hippie lady, Dr. Peppy…
… add a dash of moonbathing, dancing under the moon, an unexpected “pregnancy”, a hedgehog, a stuffed squirrel, a groom kidnapping and an array of previously known characters -human and animals alike- and you have one heck of a dynamite cocktail!!! If you don’t get hammered by the end of the book, I don’t know if you ever will!
This is the second book in the Happy Cat series, and as hillarious as the first one! Witty dialogues, crazy antics, the whole small town madness, and of course animals that steal the show. You can’t go wrong with Pippa Grand and Lili Valente! Amidst the whole craziness and the laugh-out-loud moments, you’ll find that “Hammered” is a heartwarming story, full of deep emotions. Both Jace and Olivia carry their emotional baggage, self-esteem issues, and yet the story is so light-hearted that it carries the message across without undue angst.
Grab “Hammered”, download the extended epilogue and lose yourself to the crazy world Pippa and Lili have created!!!
And my usual warning: due to heavy snickering and laughing yourself to the point of rolling on the floor, eating, drinking and reading while others (especially family members) are around, are best to be avoided 😉
Olivia is known as the town hippie – she believes in auras and the healing powers of crystals and herbs. She also rescues lost things – and animals. She and Jace have been friends who flirt for a long time, and when Jace and his on-again-off-again girlfriend Ginger are definitely off, they hook up in his bar. Unfortunately for Olivia, Ginger turns up again pregnant with Jace’s baby, and decides to work it out with her for the sake of the baby. Being Happy Cat, Georgia, shenanigans ensue. Many shenanigans. The raccoon George Cooney is now joined by Chewpaca the alpaca and Princess the hedgehog. Jace and Olivia are so good together, too.
Like the first book in this series, Hosed, we have an eclectic cast of characters who have a lot of heart. Happy Cat is small town life at its best. Don’t worry, though, if you haven’t read Hosed (and why not??) the books are standalones and you won’t be lost if you read Hammered first.
When I started this, I didn’t realize it was the second book of a series. Don’t worry, it is a stand alone. I didn’t feel lost or like I was missing anything. It’s just a personal preference to read in order.
You will get laughs while reading this. Which I really wanted. But some parts were just way over the top for me.
Especially with Olivia. I liked her, but she’s just a little too out there for me.
I liked Jace also. But the whole situation with Ginger, he was an idiot. Never even asked for proof.
Like I said, you will get some laughs with this read. I would say to give it a try.
I give this a 3.5
I want to start off saying that I never in a million years thought I would want a pet hedgehog, but here I am. I also didn’t think I would ever read a book with one. I not only read it, but I loved it. I’ve read everything by Pippa Grant and I’m working my way through Lili Valente’s back list. These two authors make an amazing team. They are fantastically funny. Poor Jace just wants to get away from Ginger, and move on with Olivia. Sweet, loving Olivia. Jace and Olivia have perfect matching auras. What’s a guy to do though when his ex says she’s pregnant? Get married of course. What’s a woman to do when the man you love is marrying the wrong woman? Kidnap him, what else. The town cop having out for you certainly doesn’t help matters. You’ll have to read to see if love conquers all, and a hedgehog can be tamed. As always, drinking while reading is not recommended.
Never a dull moment with Ms Valente and Grant. Liv is a true “one with nature hippie” who you can only love for her quirky nature and her cinderella effect on animals. The humping hedgehog…
Jace, is the bad boy with many past misdemeanours. Ginger, his long term on again off again girlfriend, constantly reminds him that he’s lucky to have her as he is nothing but trouble. She made a good villain!
Jace is a softy underneath all his bristles and deserves lovely Olivia.
Great to have Happy Cat regulars show up, I mean what book is complete without George Clooney?!
Enjoy this laugh out loud read.
I’ve been waiting for this release forever! I thought the story was engaging and I loved the heroine, Olivia Moonbeam. The was quirky and authentic.
Hammered is the second book in the Happy Cat series by the talented duo of Lili Valente and Pippa Grant. Lili and Pippa are a fantastic duo writing team with their hilariousness and sexy, fun characters. We’ve met both Jace and Olivia before and we knew there was a spark between them. They have a connection that they can no longer deny and when they give it it’s magical. Until Jace’s crazy ex doesn’t want to go away and Olivia is forced to kidnap the groom from his wedding. Vespa style. Jace thinks all the craziness is behind him and he and Olivia can finally be together. But things aren’t going to be that easy for Jace and Olivia. They have some obstacles to overcome before they can finally have their happily ever after! I loved these two. They are so cute and funny and sexy together. Olivia is a quirky hippie and Jace is broody, but can’t help smile when he’s with Olivia. Overall, I laughed out loud, cried, cheered and got angry! All the feels!
This was so much more than I expected. I enjoy a good romcom, but over the top isn’t always my jam. Which is what I expected with this. Being entertained, but not much more. Well, let me tell you, it was more. Is Olivia quirky AF? yes. Is Jace a hothead who has gotten into lots of trouble in the past? yes.
BUT! There is so much more. A will to change and improve. The unflinching honour to be there for what you created, whether you’d like to run away or not. And the lovely talent of always seeing the best in others and wanting them to be the best they can be.
Beautiful love story in a crazy setting, that surprised with more real emotion than anticipated.
