“Once you get a glimpse of the dark side of hell, there’s no turning back.”
“In a tough match, evenly-matched opponents struggle for that edge, only to realize the one with resilience, who can keep his wits about him, is the one who will win.”
I’m very glad to have read this premise. Chris Turner, once again knew how to capture me with his writings. A coming of age techno-thriller, with a down to earth storyline and exciting at the same time, as the mundane everyday life of the main character develops and mingles with the prohibitive exploration of the Darkweb and it’s consequent results. Creative and very well thought out. Dark and kind of horrifying. Great world building, detailed to its best, intense and emotional with a frightening scenario, very much related to present day fears with the tech developing. A realistic and horrifying point of view, about a corporations dominated world, it’s selfish desire to control humans..with implants, virtual games. The Haloband, offers wild alternatives, high tech addictive and perilous. A world where everyone has a com chip, but restricted and controlled access tech. An amazingly enjoyable future thriller tale with an unusual storyline that draws you in..a plot full o intrigue that evolves bit by bit, discovering conspiracies, lies through the Darkweb. Why and what are the governments hiding about the Cataclysm and what happened before? The curiosity of the protagonist-a teenager-leads her towards paths unknown and dangerous, it’s a sharp, concise and gripping tale.I definitely want to explore more works in the series and see where this story leads to. Chris Turner has once again demonstrated his dominion of other genres besides dark fantasy or Science Fiction, which he handles perfectly. Looking forward to reading Ignatia on Fire #2!
Haloband by Chris Turner is a wonderful story that I have read. This is book number one in this wonderful series that I have loved reading and can not wait to read the next book in this wonderful series. I highly recommended this story to everyone who loves reading about Sci-Fi.

This was a fantastic story. Ellan and her family were put through the ringer by the corporation that her mother and brother worked for. I can’t wait to read more about Ellan and the haloband and it’s ill effects, her discoveries on the dark web, her family and friends, and especially Ellan and Torv and their relationship in the next book I Hope is coming out soon!!

Leap forward forty years for this PG13 dystopian tale of Ellan Weis who just wants to give her high school science presentation but is having a terrible time doing the research. Can be read in a day.

I liked the book. This is a YA dystopian novel about conspiracy and big brother government. Elian is an unusual teen in that she seems to think for herself instead of going along with others. That lands her in trouble with the school and the enforcing corporations. The story was a little slow at first but picked up and delivered the action.
I received an ARC of this book and wished to leave a review.
