“From first kiss to major plot twist… two solid love stories for the price of one… a sweet romance about new beginnings.” – Kirkus Reviews“Wow! This book is simply phenomenal and a much needed breath of fresh air!….I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved this book! With so many “cookie cutter” books being published today, it was so enjoyable to read a story that is truly in a league of … in a league of it’s own! The story line is fluid, and the characters are extremely well developed. If you are looking for a love story like no other you’ve read before, this is definitely the book for you! – Carla, Stephanie’s Book Reports
“A Must Read Epic 5* Read”- Tracy, Bookalicious Babes Blog
“What can I say about this EPIC book from RC Stephens? Well, to start off…I absolutely LOVED it!! The story of Halo and Thomas’s romance was gripping, intensely emotional and soul-searingly unforgettable!”- Jacquie, Bookalicious Babes Blog
From best selling author R.C. Stephens comes a compelling story of heartbreak, sacrifice and the test of true love.
I fell in love with Thomas Wells and knew he was my forever.
I was sixteen when I gave him my heart.
Our love was the kind to last a lifetime.
But Thomas was broken.
The first day we met he told me he was going to become a Navy SEAL.
At nineteen he enlisted.
At twenty he married me.
At twenty five he left me pregnant and didn’t turn back.
I knew he was suffering….
I also knew I couldn’t save him.
He left me broken.
I was scared and alone.
Until I met Ryder St. John a wounded soldier…
He was lost.
I was lost.
Together we made sense.
I fell in love again…
What Ryder forgot to mention was that he held a secret so explosive that it could shatter both our worlds.
This is a full length novel and is intended for a mature audience.

This book was predictable for me. I knew from the blurb what would happen, but I was still interested. Halo has been in love with Thomas since she was a teenager. They get married, and he leaves for a tour overseas. His last deployment was rough and he leaves her and files for divorce after she tells him she is pregnant. He’s afraid of being abusive like his father.
Told in past and present scenes
3 POVs
I think everyone should read this book. We don’t give enough thought to what active military personnel go through either on the battlefield or the wounds they carry emotionally. The story also shines light on the other half of military service – the families of those who serve and have served.
This is a well written and beautiful story. If somewhat implausible in parts. However, stranger things have happened.
I really enjoyed this book. At first I wasn’t fond of the throw back chapters. I wasn’t sure how relevant that was to the story. After a few chapters it was not an issue. So many stories have similar plots and there is only so many ways to tell it. This author did an excellent job in introducing the character, presenting the story and keeping the reader well engaged. Definitely would recommend. I’m trying to buy the next book on Barnes Noble but not available yet.
A phenomenally heartbreaking but exceptionally beautiful journey to go on. This book is going to stick with me for a long time. I felt so many emotions reading this book. I absolutely loved it.
One of my all time favorites. I tell everyone about this book. Definitely a page Turner.
I did receive a Free ARC Audible copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
Halo met Thomas Wells when she was 15. They were both on the high school’s water polo club. Halo and Thomas have been together ever since. Thomas is from the poor side of the Chicago suburb. Halo’s parents don’t like Thomas so much, as they believe his is a bad influence on her. Thomas has a very rough childhood / teen years. His father is a drunk, who beats him. Halo is his normalcy in his life. Halo’s parents work very hard and have nice large incomes, however, they don’t seem to save money for a rainy day. They spend more money on entertainment, dinners, vacations, nice luxury things.
Thomas and Halo marry young. Thomas goes to a tech school for an EMT program. Halo has fallen into a depression and doesn’t want to do much. Thomas is taking care of her and everything else. September 11th happens, and Thomas goes into the military, as that was his dream.
After his first deployment he came back pretty normal. However, he was needing to go back to his team and re-deploy. After the 2nd deployment Thomas came home with PTSD, he was drinking more, and taking more pills than he should have. Thomas slept all day and was now on medical leave from the military. His team was going to re-deploy and he wanted to go, however, he wasn’t sure if he could pass the medical tests to go back over.
Thomas and Halo were fighting all the time. Halo wanted him to stay to take care of himself, and to be with her. Halo loses contact with Thomas. He stopped calling her, writing her. Halo isn’t sure what to do any longer.
This book is full of sorrow, pain, redemption, mystery and surprises.
The story jumps around too much from present to past and seems so immature it doesn’t make sense.
I loved this book it was such a great story with all the feels. I’ve actually read it a few times I liked it so much
Predictable, but loved the characters and story. Enjoyable.
