I loved it!! These stories are just getting better and better. I can hardly wait for the next book. But the ending. I am heartbroken . I was given a free ARC by the author. My review is freely and honestly given
Halloween is a time of candy and fun for most of us. However, for the residents of Eastwind it is a time when the dead get to terrorize the living. I like candy much better then terror. Nora has her hands full with the dead spirits who follow her everywhere. This story changed how her future will unfold and was a total surprise. Following Nora and Grimm through the series has been a real roller coaster ride. This series is very entertaining and each story was original and precise. Grimm is a constant reminder that being dead does not mean you cannot eat bacon at every meal. Really enjoy Nova Nelson’s style of writing. She has a fun sarcastic writing style that fits Eastwind and its residents perfectly. Looking forward to the next book to see how the story unfolds next. Received an ARC of this book, but also bought a copy.
Oh my. That was an amazing read. This is the Halloween book that we have been dying to read. Halloween in Eastwind is a spirited affair. Finally, for one day, EVVVVVERYBODY can see the pesky ghosts that are begging Nora and Ruby for help. Only, this year, the Winds of Change throw Nora quite the curveball: the ghosts of Tanner’s parents come to call, bringing with them one hellhound of a problem. The tension throughout this book is astonishing, and there are some serious twists and turns.
I absolutely loved this book. Nova is a phenomenal author and this is no exception. Nora is spending her first Halloween in Eastwind and it is going to be interesting. With her restaurant closed down still, she is trying to find ways to occupy her time like spending time with her boyfriend, Tanner. She is doing pretty good until his dead parents’ ghosts show up and tell her there is something going on in Eastwind and only she can solve it. With Halloween and all the restless spirits wanting to resolve issues so they can go on to the afterlife, can Nora solve their problems and be able to complete the task that Tanner’s parents have charged her with.
I love this series and if you haven’t read them, I highly recommend that you do. She is a very addictive author, complete with humor, twists, wonderful characters, and just everything you are looking for in an entertaining series.
Ah, Halloween – that time of year when the veil between realms is the thinnest and poor Nora is feeling the pressure from all of those extra ghosts visiting her. When the ghosts of Tanner’s parents come calling with news that something terrible is coming to Eastwind and Nora is the only one who can stop it, she is thrust into the center of things with a choice that is impossible to make…until the choice is taken out of her hands and others make a sacrifice. I don’t want to give away too much, but this book was the best of the series yet for me and definitely not to be missed! With a fanciful cast of characters that I thoroughly enjoy, this book was particularly suspenseful and has a bold and unexpected twist!
I love this series by Nova Nelson, she’s one of the few authors I automatically pre-order! Her books are full of well-written characters, a lot of plot threads and twists, and snarky humor. As soon as a new book is released, I immerse myself in it, as I love the interaction between Nora and Grim, and Tanner, too!
Nora the 5th Wind witch keeps getting stuck in the middle of mysterious happenings in Eastwind, no matter how much she doesn’t want to be. A really good storyline with an unexpected twist or two, and deeper character development with each book makes this series impossible to put down. I love Grim’s snark, it keeps me laughing!
I devoured this book in a few hours, and was startled at the unexpected ending! I can’t wait for the next one.
Well, unicorn swirls!
The Winds of Change are blowing harder than ever in this one, but how to stop them? Nora’s first Halloween is really something to remember. Everyone gets to see ghosts not just Nora. A little sweet justice watching everyone’s reaction to something that Nora deals with everyday. This was the best book yet and I did not see the end coming! Can’t wait for the next one!!
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
Hey Grim: do they have pictures or just paintings in your world? I would love a picture of you after Ruby finished getting you ready for the Hallow’s Faire. Please send me one.
It is funny because I just thinking that I was wondering if they had looked at Tanner’s parents death yet. Guess what, they show up as ghosts in this book and need Nora’s help. Yes how they died is mentioned. But you need to read the book yourself, I am not telling. The ending was not a surprise and yet was a surprise. Interested to see where the next few books go with what happened..
I can honestly say that you can read this book without having read the others. Ii am a few books behind; have read some others in this series. I followed the story line just fine. Author does a great job of hinting of what happened in previous books without giving anything away but enticing you to go read them. For example, the doppelgangers?, i missed that one but will catch up soon.
You will just want to catch up. the characters and story lines are great. Books are fast , do not want to put down, easy reads.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
Funny. Entertaining. Suspenseful. Poignant. Heartbreaking. Everything all wrapped up in another amazing book by the esteemed Nora Nelson! I absolutely loved it!
“As usual, the simplest act would have the most lasting complications.”
Nora’s about to experience her first Halloween in Eastwind, for better or for worse. The Winds of Change “situation” is set aside at present as everyone is dealing with the yearly thinning of the veil and with ghosts all over the place- just like Nora and Ruby deal with every day, and Nora and Ruby are happily watching others being pestered. Until…. Tanner’s parents arrive from beyond with a dilemma that only Nora can solve that may give them all answers that could change things in unbelievable ways.
I refuse to give away spoilers, so this review is rather nebulous. What I can say is that this particular visit to Eastwind IMHO is a pivot point of change in the series and fills in backstory while opening new opportunities. I read it in one sitting, highly recommend and give it 5/5
[disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it
That was one hellhound of a witchy ride!
Oh.
My.
Witch.
That was one hellhound of a witchy ride!
At Halloween the veil is non-existent, so lots and lots of ghosts! And on that specific day everyone can see them, giving Nora a much-needed break. But two ghosts deserve special attention: Tanner’s parents. They were murdered years ago and their murder was never solved. But that’s not the reason they’re back…
As always it was a fun read. Fast-paced and amazing! And well-written. Nova Nelson really has a way with words. The sarcasm jumped off the page. Nora is her usual sarcastic self. Grim is his usual grumpy self, wanting but not always getting greasy treats. You really do need to read the previous book first; you won’t understand the ongoing happenings otherwise.
But the end, oh, the end! My heart’s broken now. I can’t wait to find out what the future has in store for my favorite Eastwind characters!
As always, terrific and funny and sad and left me wanting more of the story…good news is there’s one more novel ready to read in the series and I’m hoping there will be another written soon!
This series keeps getting better!
I love the changes that happen here and am looking forward to see what happens next.
Nova Nelson is a amazing author. I love this series, each one keeps getting better and better. Can hardly wait to read the next book in this series…
Hallow’s Faire in Love and War #9 – I completely love this series and Hallow’s is full of twists and surprises. Nora gets a rude awakening and a visit from the past that has her head spinning, not literally, and she pays dearly. The storylines are intriguing and the continuous ones from previous books mesh well with this book’s plot.
The same likable, and some not so likable, crew makes their contributions to keeping the reader’s interest, while the new characters add to the mix. There’s nothing like having his parents float in while you’re in bed undressed. Complete with humor, along with the sad parts, this well rounded story is a good addition to the series. Start with book one, else you’re missing the continuously growing foundation that this series is built upon and you will not get the full value of this series. I contacted the author to read her books. 4*
